Loved seeing Sean praise Nick like that. You can't ask for more. You can hope, they were darn close, but it was as a much a "well done" as it was "congratulations."

Go Nick. Love his game. Ditto on the thoughts above. Miller truly a great coach ...supports his players with heart and soul.

I believe I read it in Hansen's column yesterday...take that for what it's worth...

Hansen:

"The Houston Rockets have not announced a contract agreement with Nick Johnson, but various NBA media outlets say Johnson has accepted a three-year, guaranteed deal worth about $2.3 million."

The item about Vance Johnson and rehab was sad. Sure had a bumpy personal life.

You need to be careful about that. There's a small but significant difference between buying a big Johnson T-shirt and buying a Big Johnson T-shirt.

In all reality, is there anyone not rooting for Nick? At least anyone who does not have a pathological hatred of Arizona.

let's hope that contract in 2017 as a free agent balloons up to some obscene number because he tore it up his first 3 years...

Love Sean Miller.
Go Nick!!! Does this mean he stays on the bench or will he still go to the D league??

It would be surprising if they guaranteed a D Leaguer. I'd say it's a pretty good sign for Nick that they consider him a part of their future at this point.

Nick got drafted into perhaps the most former college SG needing to develop as a pro PG-friendly situation in the NBA.

Patrick Beverly
Ish Smith
Isaiah Canaan

We dont know the final details of the contract other than it is three years fully guaranteed. Until we know that, I would assume his contract will look close to this:

14-15: $884,879
15-16: $845,059
16-17: $980,431
17-18: $1,251,245 (qualifying offer)

Total: 3 years, $2,710,369 guaranteed

Three years fully guaranteed for a total of $1,763,758.

2014-15 = $507,336.

Nice. That is still an amazing amount of guaranteed money. I'm happy for NJ, he handled business and got paid!

A week old from a Houston Rocket page:

Houston Rockets: Nick Johnson Has Arrived!

Wow, that was fun! It was great seeing some of the Houston Rockets most talented prospects do work in the NBA Summer League competition.......

Johnson appeared in eight games and averaged 12.5 points, 4.4 boards, 2.3 dimes and 1.8 steals in 30.3 minutes of action per.

Johnson made an accentuation with his high intensity in this tourney that he deserves to be in the NBA and will be a vital cog to the Rockets’ well-tuned machine.

There’s no way this young talent will be cut!

Last night, he completed a silky-smooth reverse alley-oop dunk off a Donatas Motiejunas lob that was so awesome that blind man could see it!

Was Grant Jarrett's D league contract guaranteed? Never did hear.

Congrats to Nick and his family for eventually, in a roundabout way, getting what they were thinking when we talked right before Nick declared. Yeah, the 1st round guarantee was smokescreen, but when it all shook out, the belief Nick and his family had in Nick's ability to impress in summer resulted in basically the same 1st round pick status as far as money and terms go. Great team situation in Houston, great location for family, and Nick has a real puncher's chance of making an impact on an NBA playoff-level team right away.

More than anyone, other than Nick and his family, could have expected. Way to stick to your guns...

But what about Jahii? I noticed he went from tweeting every day to completely stopping once he didn't get drafted. Was it really such a shock that he wasn't wanted?

Hopefully he's tweeting less because he's learning a foreign language.
