The WeedGuardU aftermath game.

Josiah, Josiah. I mean, he wasn't great, but we would have beat Colorado that game with him. Their pressure and our lack of a true PG were a recipe for disaster late. That was the closest I have ever sat for a PAC-12/10 tournament game, and I have been to quite a few. Just about on the court, and cheap. That was the positive and negative of Staples Center games. No LA team? Cheap upgrades via the guy on the corner.

By that point, we were a dying animal looking for a grave to fall into. Losing to Bucknell in the NIT was actually falling into the grave.

I can't remember who ended up winning the NIT that year. Or the year after. Or the year after that.

I love the NIT for allowing schools who win their small conference regular seasons but get upset in a 3 game tournament a place to continue playing.

It makes for some interesting upsets, for sure. Like us. Or then ASU, which led to the great video of fat ASU fan punching and kicking a wall in WFA.

For that alone, the NIT is necessary.

Good call for those who chose Rado over ASU!...I was really conflicted on this and ended up on ASU based on scores of previous meetings, not wanting to jinx, etc. I did think ASU would win BUT what a great way to wake up this AM. “Can’t Guard U” :-)

SO HAPPY to lose that point!

Trae Holder got ejected with 7 seconds left in the game for going off on a COlorado player who did a showboat dunk while everyone was dribbling out the game...not saying he shouldn't got tossed, but 7 seconds...and it was a "Steve Alford" kind of dunk with Co up and in control of ball, dribbling out clock...

Not anASU fan of course, but Trae is a decent kid and let his emotions get the best of him...Bobbly Hurley is a TURRIBLE coach...he showed videos of when they were winning to prep his team for the Pac 12 tourney...obviously not an X's and O's kind of guy...idiot.

Fell kinda bad for holder though...if he had ever been taught to play defense he might not be so emotional...

They basically played no defense, either team...

Frankly I hope Ayton and team hand them their ass...

I honestly don't have a problem with what Holder did. Sort of weird timing and dumb though. The shot clock was running out so why wouldn't CU take an easy bucket? Also, if they do make the tourney, he put himself in position to be suspended the first game. So, it was dumb in that situation, but I don't mind it. I kind of like the fire. Like Pinder standing up for Deandre.

I wonder what type of fan support they will get once they accept that they are NIT bound?

They ought to put the wall back up so it looks closer to a NIT sell-out on TV. Commentator should be Dick Vital - they deserve him.

You have words...not a physical confrontation that is going to set off other issues.

And that whole being suspended thing is kind of big. As is his counting on restraint from the guy who could have ended him with a punch.

There is fire. There is standing up for a teammate, using force to get someone away from your teammate. Blindly shoving someone for hurting your feelings is not fire. It's a lack of control.

There's a pretty big difference between what Keanu did and what Holder did. Keanu literally threw himself in the middle to block Ayton out of the confrontation, which so frequently becomes a double tech in college, even if there's no words exchanged. Holder created a situation by injecting himself (or should I say propelling himself?).

What Keanu did was brilliant, because he knows that a tech for him doesn't matter even 1% as much as a tech for Ayton. Holder was just trying to start shit

Do you double him and make the other guys beat you, or let him go for 40?

He's clearly the hottest player in the Pac at the moment, so Miller has his work cut out prepping for tomorrow. I don't trust any of our guards to stay with him.

We just don't match up well with UCLA. No one on our team can guard Holiday. If another player gets hot for the Bruins tomorrow the result could be very similar to the loss at Mckale. I think it will be closer this time. I'm guessing it goes into OT.

We've all been at this watching-on-our-asses long enough to know how this goes down. You don't adjust by way of personnel or the system. In the second go-around, you don't stick Ashley on Kaminsky, and not expect Ashley to get sent to the bench with his second foul with 18:00 to go in the first half. No. You stick with what you've got, and ride it. And you try to put together a solid game within your system.

1) You live with the hell of trying to defend Holliday.

2) You don't let Welsh control the boards and get a double-double. No. One of your two 7-footers outrebounds Welsh this time around.

3) You don't let Gigi Goloman stretch the floor and take over the game. You say, "No. That's Gigi Goloman, not George Gervin. I'm going to break this schoolboy."

4) You don't let Hands go nuts from the perimeter in the first half.

5) You don't let Rawle have a black hole game like he did against UCLA last time. That right there alone is the difference between winning and losing, even if 2-4 somehow go wrong again.

6) You don't let Ayton have the kind of sub-par game he had against ULCA last time, and Colorado last night. Time to get him touches, and time for the best player in college basketball to step up and play like he can.

7) You defend with intensity this time.

It's not about adjustments. It's about doing the things you do better this time around. You do some of 1-7 better this time and you beat UCLA.

Full stop.

Not that I disagree with your points (because they are accurate and needed), but Sean did start Keanu vs Oregon in Vegas last year, and that really threw Brooks off his game. So I would not be shocked for a change up tomorrow.

A-freaking-men, LH! Excellent breakdown and insight. We’re better than UCLA, like usual, so it kills me when we don’t impose our will on them. They’ve got some wind in their sails, but if we play hard and smart, we should control the game and win by 5 to 10.

It’s March for chrisakes. Time for this AZ team to win big games, starting tomorrow.
