YoDeFoe wrote: Tue Jul 12, 2022 11:50 am Assuming Kerr and Larsson return, it would be Kerr / Boswell / Larsson at the 1-3 in 2023-24.

I'm a believer that Larsson can go in the draft after this season - he's got an NBA wing body, good athleticism, and if he shows more volume with his blend of outside shooting and pick and roll finishing... he should get first round buzz.

The wild part is we would have Veesaar, Zu, and KJ Evans who could play the four that season (assuming those first two don't bolt)... and any one of those guys could be the best PF in the conference. Would be nice if one of Zu or Veesaar would go nuclear this season and clear some room for Evans who I think is an incredible prospect.
I don't know that Kerr and Boswell games compliment each other in the backcourt. Boswell is small and not explosive athletically while Kerr is not very athletic and isn't very good defensively while not being very big and unable to attack the rim.

Kind of hoping both Kerr and Tubelis think they outgrew the college game and ready to turn pro after this year.
That all makes sense, but I think Kriisa can be a key part of what we're building towards in 2023-24. Bal is athletic and would possibly make up for some of that lack of explosiveness you're describing in Kriisa and Boswell.

Tubelis is an interesting case. The more I think on it, the more I do think 2022-23 will be his last year at AZ. He's been a great addition to our roster, but he'll be ready to try his hand at pro ball in Europe soon. If Tubelis leaves, that clears things up a little with our frontcourt rotation. Need to know what Ballo's doing, though.

I miss 97cats "Arizona is right where it wants to be with..." posts.

Hopefully Choo can confirm our status.

He's pretty much a lock

He's also been dropping in the rankings throughout every recruiting service (except ESPN who doesn't update their regularly) where he used to be consensus top 2-4.

There are reasons why '97 doesn't do it anymore but we can still ask the question.

Are our resources so much deeper than say a Gonzaga or where was recruiting this guy

I'm so wildly excited about KJ Evans - he's so dang big and so well rounded already. He's going to demolish at the college level with Tommy's coaching and system. Hopefully he can continue to fill out his frame and gain some more bounce as he comes into his athletic prime.

I was way off when I said I didn't think Arizona would get involved with this one. Arizona is 0 and 1 against the G League so far though, let's see if they can even it up with this recruitment. I still think Cody Williams is more likely.

And when you add Kentucky to the mix, even lower batting average

GLeague being the first option? Edwards just committed to Kentucky. I'd think that would impact Cook's decision.

If you read Shaw’s article it reads like a shit ton of conjecture and not much substance. I’ll worry when other insiders start leaning that way.

The NIL thing is my biggest fear in this recruitment. Evans has already stated that his NIL is important, which favors $$$Oregon/Phil Knight$$$
The entire NIL thing is almost never going to favor AZ.

What factors are most important to you when making your college decision?

“The system, where I fit in, the place and atmosphere, and NIL.”

Oregon will always be big in the BIL world. They can say they are paying players for wearing Nike clothing and it is a legit done deal. We will struggle in this area but somehow the Zags figured it out and we will too.

I mean, sucks to lose Evans, but how many of these 5-stars Oregon’s gotten have amounted to anything at the college level? I see a lot of OADs making little to no impact in their one college season, similar to what Romar did for a while at UW.

Phil Knight is approaching 85 years old.

When Phil Knight passes, what will Oregon athletics look like?

Even when he’s gone, his money, influence and power will remain. I would expect his impact on UO athletics to extend will beyond his lifetime.

This is what's important.

How much $ though? Are any of his kids big Oregon sports fans? Are they sports fans? Do any of them have a connection besides the Phil connection to UO? Do they have a $500 million soft spot for UO? Only time will tell.

Wonder what the board at Nike will do, if their views on Oregon will change after hes gone. I am sure other programs are doing more for Nikes brand than UO.

It doesn't matter what the Nike board or his kids want. PK will set up a trust that generates 10-20 million a year for OU athletics.
