Extremely sad the network is going off air tomorrow

Distribution was awful but the product until they stopped funding it was absolutely Amazing

Will never forget the pain I saw in the real people hurt by all this in Vegas this year

Assuming Xfinity's guide is to be believed, this will be the final thing airing on each network:

Main: 1992 Snow Bowl - Washington at Washington St.
Arizona: 2018 Pac 12 Men's Basketball Tournament Final where we beat USC
Bay Area: The Play from 1982
Los Angeles: 2023 Football UCLA at USC
Mountain: 2017 Football Colorado at Utah
Oregon: 2020 Pac 12 Football Championship Oregon vs. Oregon St.
Washington: 1991 Football Washington at Cal

So everyone but ASU gets a goodbye game. Also love how we're the only basketball game on. I know they've aired our 97 championship game in the past so it's a bit odd they wouldn't air that here.

The Play is so iconic I would've put that on the main channel and give Washington the Snow Bowl. Bay Area would get a Monty/Lute showdown while LA would get some Wooden championship. But the fact they probably don't have rights to the latter two basketball games is what was wrong with this network in the first place. Would've been nice if these networks could've aired truly classic games instead of recent history which has not been nearly as interesting.

For all the crap with the Network, I have to say I was super appreciative of their International YouTube Channel and I got to see a ton of games that way. I will miss the heck out of it. RIP Pac12 International YouTube Channel 😢

I’m watching our loss to Cal in 2014 aka the Brandon Ashley foot game. I won’t watch the end of the game that’s for sure.😉

No announcers. Just the live feed.

Man, was that a nice team -TJ, Nick, RHJ, Gordon, Tarczewski, etc…
But we sure didn’t shoot many outside shots. Lol.

I believe if Brandon never got hurt, they would of won it all that year. The same in 2001 when Arenas got hurt against Michigan State and Walton playing with a broken thumb.

Same. Between accessing the Pac-12 International Channel via VPN and casting to my TV, and Fish, and occasionally Crackstream, I was able to watch every single FB and MBB game.

If anyone's curious what happened before midnight, the regional channels seemed to just stop right at midnight during generic Pac 12 ads, while the main channel aired a credits sequence featuring what looked like every single behind the scenes person that had a hand in the network's operation, while the song "Stories Of Our Lives" played. The cool video that aired after the final live broadcast didn't play at all which surprised me. Just the credits, then as the song faded out the Pac 12 logo appeared and faded out, then the "This channel is no longer available" message which is now the only thing that airs on all 7 networks.

A sad ending for a sad network. Hope all the people that got laid off can land on their feet.

Watched snippets of the Cal-Stanford The Play game.

Appropriate swan song for a Network that was handled like Cal’s lateral’s with the only exception that Cal scored and the Network fumbled the ball away…

Kind of feel like the conference was more like the Stanford band. Totally out of their element but charging forward loudly and idiotically only to get trucked by the people who actually had an idea what was going on and had a plan to win.

My screen just froze at midnight on Sean Miller for a whole then Cox had a message the provider ended the content

Really will miss watching old games during breakfast if nothing else good is on

Will espn+ and Big 12 now have that stuff.

Won't buy espn+ until day of the NAU game. Refuse to give that evil company a dime more than I need to

The presidents wanted to hype non-revenue (and low ratings) sports at each school. Larry Scott wanted to double-dip as conference commissioner and CEO of a suite of TV networks, so he told them what they wanted to hear. Ultimately, only Scott won, with his financial bonanza. Obviously you're going to get poor distribution with traditionally low-rated programming. Going forward, we'll still have the big games on the big networks, and most tiers of cable subscribers get ESPN+ thrown in. Add to that what Reed-Francois said about doing local production, rather than Learfield. I would assume that includes some streamed video to satisfy the demand for full coverage. I watched a couple of streamed baseball games, and it was fine, with a simulcast of Brian Jeffries. I don't need (or particularly want) shots of kids in the stands eating ice cream cones or a pair of "regular guys" in the booth expounding on their views on life and trying to be clever and entertaining.

You are right and wrong about this

The initial issue with the network was that Cox Comcast and Dish all signed on right away at a high price. Directv was interested but not at that price. To get Directv the price they were willing to pay meant lowering the price for Cox comas and Dish which the presidents and Scott didn’t want to do thinking Directv would eventually pay the higher price.

Then it became rating because it wasn’t on Directv so it was chicken and egg after the first year

I said it 12 years ago. They would have made up the distribution revenue lost by added advertising revenues

That was the fatal flaw of the network and really the only flaw

Hopefully they all land on their feet. I’m sure that if others in the industry think as highly of their work as you do, they will.

Businesses close. And yeah, it definitely is terrible for the rank & file. But I don’t see you holding a candle for the Pizza Hut employees in my neck of the woods who all just recently lost their jobs when all the locations in a two county area closed. Is that maybe in another thread and I just missed it? Or are you just using the recent employment status of people you don’t know to try to pretend you care more than your fellow posters who aren’t mad about our move to a non-failing conference and media channel?

Like the PAC refs, someone will still need to do the games that the PAC refs did, so imagine many if not most have been hired already. Many of the broadcasters also did ESPN games so they will be good. Not sure if Matty did ESPN too, but hopefully he gets picked up.

Like Chi said, it's not like Pizza Hut closed. The former PAC teams are still playing all the sports they used to and people still need to video them and broadcast them.

No doubt. I was just saying that the B12 will be looking for more refs to do the additional games by the 4 corner schools, and they can apply for those positions if they haven't been reached out too already.

Now if the B12 doesn't want any PAC refs, I can't blame them.

Seriously.

The absolute facts of the matter are that even if the Pac-12 wasn't ran like Blockbuster Video and the Pac 12 survived, the Pac 12 Network was still going away forever. Now some people would have been retained to manage equipment and such or be a satellite office for Apple or ESPN or whomever, but it was literally known by everybody that the Pac-12 Network was a money pit and was going away. If the people who worked for the network did not know that by the time they talked to PHXCATS they either are mentally handicapped or they literally showed up to work and played Minesweeper all day.
