I get you, TC. I'm just not in love with Doncic the way others are. Where some see Ginobli, I see David Lee. Lee's had a nice career, and he'd probably go higher than a lot of people ahead of him if they re-did the '05 draft, but he never changed a franchise. Ayton, Bagley, Bamba...I'd take them all ahead of Doncic.
Not in love with an 18 year old averaging 16 pts 6 rebounds 5 assists shooting 47%, all in 25 mpg, in the second best basketball league in the world?

Well, I guess that means he must not be good. Thank god BC97 has come in to show us the light, as always. If it wasn't for your insightful comments on this board, I don't know what we would do!

Doncic is the truth. He’s Aytons only real competition as the #1 pick now that Ayton has slightly separated himself from MB3. Clips breakdown is pretty good, but i would takenit a step further and say he’s going to be an iso guy w a little seasoning. He’s not going to blow by and cram before help can get there in an iso 4-flat look at end of game situations like Russ, but he’s very crafty and could easily turn into Harden without quite the smoothness on his step back, but Beards offensive game is so diverse that he almost always has the D guessing and back on their heels and then he can do what he wants basically on O.

The key to Doncic being an ISO guy at end of clock situations is how deadly he can become w his jumper. Can he develop a lights out two dribble pull up / step back pull up/ etc. he’s already got a nice little floater and push shot though. He’s basically a 6’8 Rubio who can actually shoot it and shoot it well.

I know I’m going to get killed for this but I’ve heard scouts say his ceiling is Magic Johnson-lite. And he’s already considered a high floor guy.

I’d still take Ayton unless my team already has a Drummond, Jordan, Davis in the post, and i don’t see any of those teams getting the #1 pick, but it’s not as cut and dry as everyone thinks. Most of us don’t see Doncic every game like we do Ayton, so we don’t appreciate him.

I do however agree, that as long as medical stuff checks out (always a concern w guys Aytons size) you can’t pass on him w #1 pick. That is the type of move that gets GMs fired. Let’s not pretend Doncic is Darco though. He’s the most sure thing a Euro has ever been. More than The unicorn.

As for BC97s comparisons to Manu and David Lee ..... uhhhhh what? Those aren’t even close.

Is Doncic as much of a sure thing as Andre Bargnani? Or Danilo?

I’ve seen this movie before. NBA scouts in love with an international prospect who doesn’t set the league on fire, the way many anticipated.

No way I’d take Doncic ahead of Ayton, Bagley, or Bamba.

Doncic plays in the second best basketball league in the world and is absolutely dominating the competition. The only thing he has in common with Bargnani is that they're both European. Most of these guys taken from overseas are primarily taken on potential and a little bit of production. Doncic is a shit ton of a production that has never been seen before at his age and further untapping potential. I'd take him over Bagley and Bamba in a heartbeat. It's debatable between him and Ayton imo and the fact that it's even debatable shows just how damn good Doncic is.

This is akin to seeing Dumber and Dumberer and saying "I've seen this movie before" about Dumb and Dumber.

Why even post? Not just in this thread, I mean ever.

Oh I'm sure I've said some shit through the years to arouse antipathy. For some, it fades. For others, it rages on.

Back to the thread's OT: I'll have to watch more of Doncic and try to see the huge potential that others are seeing. In the videos I've seen, he doesn't look like he has the physical gifts to star in the NBA. Guess we'll see.

I also never socialized as a part of this board. That helps in executing the above, but probably sucks at some level.

Find me one post where he says something that is actually worth reading. That's all I ask. He has posted over 3,000 times on this message board and I don't think even once I've thought "Wow, that was insightful". He is the only person (besides the obvious trolls) I can say that about. I can't even say that about machina.

The problem is he presents his posts like he actually knows what he's talking about. This thread is a great example of it. He clearly doesn't understand basketball on any deep level, which is fine, not everyone has to, but if that's the case then maybe, just maybe, shut your pie hole and listen instead of, well, what he does.

I just wish we had kept the ban. Honestly I just talked myself into ignoring him and that's actually going to be pretty easy since, with my aforementioned point about him making no sense ever, nobody will ever quote him and he will be a ghost to me.

Oregon adjusted, but what are the chances the effectiveness of that adjustment was aided by all those horribly executed lobs "to" Ayton without Trier to open the floor? That's what happens when you loose one punch from your 1-2 punch.

The point guard isn't the only player who makes entry passes to a big man. This is on all of them (players and coaches).

Well PJC has to throw the "Banana pass" because he is so short. If he didn't, he hits his defender in the face. But as UAEebs said, the whole team makes the entry pass the same way.

I'm going to go out on a very sturdy limb and suggest that ESPN has intentionally tried to push other players up the pole over Ayton and when NBA scouts respond "Nope, Ayton is #1" it just drives them more and more to try and move the needle...

Look at all the fucking rim jobs they gave Trae Young, I have NEVER seen a sports network actually keep a running feed of a players stats over the score, they don't even do that for NBA players, but somehow Young became their poster child...and then when Ayton shows better physical attributes, and a much higher ceiling they just try and find a way to drag him down...

There are multiple agendas happening in ESPN right now, NONE of them favor the West Coast, and even worse they have a hard on to destroy UA basketball and keep the blue bloods (which Oklahoma is NOT) pure and spot free...

These asshats are licking up the dirt every chance they get and at some point it is going to come back and bite them in the ass...Disney does not tolerate a broken bottom line and controversy sells right now, but times are changing...fake news will get your twitter account removed...welcome to the new media mother fuckers, you are on record and this shit does not go away.

It's hard to read the direction culture will take, hell how many people still use AOL???

News media (ESPN falls into this category) is a rather cumbersome beast...mobs are fickle but people selling pitchforks will always find a way to make a buck, they just need to redefine who the monster is and knowing when the last one is no longer scary enough is a real science.

At one point in my life I listened to Fox news exclusively, now I pretty much regard them as the tinfoil crowd...

CNN not much better, I tend to watch BBC and Mexican news channels to get a better perspective outside of my bubble...

But its hard to decipher real original sound in an echo chamber...ESPN has been an echo chamber for quite a while...they've lost innovation and just make noise now...so in answer to your question...

I dunno...they like to hear themselves on TV?
