Agreed, if Ballo and Krivas live up to expectations.

Watching last nite, I felt a bit anxious when I thought of some of the centers we'll be facing this fall (e.g., Edey, Filipowski, Dickinson)
Hunter Dickinson? We aren't playing Kansas this year.

The other two still leave me nervous...

Ballo will be just fine against them. We have the horses. I’m not worried even if we lose 3-4 of those big games. I know CTL will find things to have the team learn from in those losses.

We are deep at all positions, except for actual 4 man…but I think if Johnson were to get hurt we could either put in Murauskas or play small with Pelle at the 4

Agreed in the medium term. The kid should have stayed in Tucson this past summer and hit the weights. He is still 15-20 lbs of muscle away from being a force in the paint. I still would not throw the towel in on him at this point.....but he does need serious work in the weight room to become relevant. He is still at least one year away.

Some opposing player needs to step on his face. Worked for Chase after a lackadaisical season prior to this.

I wouldn't say it's bad news if it's Veesaar. Showing up out of shape and behind Anderson on the depth chart probably means clear the bench minutes.

I don't know anything but there is a thread at Wildcat Authority saying Veesaar is probably out for the year

That depends on how you look at it. I feel for Henri. But that wound will heal. It might be a good thing if he can redshirt and become stronger. As for the team perspective and wins, it doesn’t make a difference.

Any injury is bad news. I didn't know he was injured. He looked OK at that exhibition game.

Figured he was going to transfer falling off 2nd team.

And agree with CITH, not an impact player so won't hurt the team.

I think it is very premature to say he wont be an impact player. Does everyone forget he was injured so bad that he didn't make the Israel trip? Obviously needed to get this conditioning back and he is one of a few that needs to increase strength. I like him and I think he will be a big asset if he gets healthy and stays.

He made the trip but was sick and played limited minutes. A redshirt could be exactly what Veesaar needs.

My bad I thought he stayed home but reread the official game thread which had a box score of 0 minutes but he had to be there to get in the box I assume.

I understand HIPAA and FERPA rules formerly working at an university, but not disclosing Veesaar's injury is pretty odd in today's sports world.

Wasn't that long ago that CFB had injury lists announced before a game.

Let's see if Tommy can stay undefeated in Vegas this year!!
Yikes. That's a mid major mentality there.
Well you schmucks are averaging 7 to 8 losses per season and had 6 the year you won the NCAA tournament. Say all you want about the big 12, but our non-con slate of games might be the most difficult I've seen a high major team play in quite a while. We play 4 of the top 5 preseason ranked teams, according to Gary Parrish,(Purdue, Duke, FAU, MSU) plus Alabama, who was #1 most of the year last year, and Wisconsin. Colgate was a tournament team last year and Belmont is no slouch. We return 2 starters and our 6th man, and we have some exciting transfers, but we aren't paying 4 mil for Hunter Dickinson. So you got us there. But maybe we didn't take him cause we already ran circles around him.

I don't think it's mid major mentality, it's a reasonable person's appraisal of a difficult schedule with a group of players who mostly have had relatively little time together.
Schedule smack? Check out Kansas's schedule and I expect to win all of them because we're Kansas. You Arizona fans haven't won anything since 1997 and now have to walk in to a real conference which you will probably perennially finish 3rd or 4th behind Kansas, Baylor or Houston.

Too high. We are going to be tested like we haven't been in a long time. Never know how players or fans will react to early challenges. Ballo especially will be tested as he will be playing guys much higher rated and more athletic than himself. It is going to be a fun year but expect some bumps along the road.

A rather esoteric bit of trivia concerning a "connection" between Arizona and New Mexico Highlands - Chris Dunn:
• 1983 - Born November.
• 2002 - Graduates from Hobbs, New Mexico HS where he is an "outstanding student." Teams won 4 straight NM HS Championships.
• 2002-2003 - Redshirts @ UA - "The Matrix" leaves due to academics.
• 8/21/03 - enrolls @ Cochise CC - never attends.
• 8/29/03 - enrolls @ Pima CC as a student only - intends to spend 1 semester as a 4-2-4 player.
• 4/19/04 - commits to UNM to play in 2005-06 - never plays.
• 5/25/04 - @ Saddlebrook College, Mission Viejo, CA.
• 11/9/04 - Quits Mesa (AZ) CC - Alton Listor, Coach.
• 2005-2006 - Trinity Valley CC, Athens, TX - Associates Degree.
• 2006-2008 - out of basketball.
• 2008-2010 - New Mexico Highlands - Exercise Science Major - NMH goes from 1-28 in 2008 to 20-8 in 2009.
• No record of every playing professionally in USA or foreign.
• 2023 - Living @ Hobbs, NM.
