I think Miller has used Ristic well in the first two games. 20 minutes last night. Not mad at that at all.
Right, but truthfully, that will probably be the norm, if not less, against a lot of teams that Arizona plays. He is just too damn limited defensively, and it isn't like he is a terrific rebounder to offset any of those liabilities.

Ristic will get pulled as soon as the other teams start catching up like happened v. UMBC. His defense is really lacking. Just can't move his feet that fast and has no spring.

Dusan will always be situational. There are some games that set up well for him and some that don't. I doubt that ever changes a whole lot. I can't think of a guy in recent Arizona memory that was more of a "you know what you're gonna get" player. With Dusan you get:

--Good post scoring option.
--Good shooter, slow release.
--Good finisher around the rim.
--Tries on D but has problems if teams force him to move his feet.
--Average rebounder.
--Less than stellar post passer.

That is Dusan 365 days a year, 366 on leap years. For matchups that play to his strengths, he is good. He is a very steady option, but there are certain opponents he has a tough time against where we will need Lee.

Ristic's go to defensive move is standing still with his arm's straight in the air. I call it the tree defense.

It's not terribly effective.

Actually, positioning himself well and going vertical is about the ideal for Dusan. He won't suddenly develop Rondae level lateral movement, so being in position and being straight up is his most effective tactic. It's being in the right position that is his big challenge so far.

Dusan's limitations are what they are. But...because of the freshman beast that is Ayton, we aren't as reliant on Dusan for points as in previous seasons, nor as vulnerable in the middle defensively. Ayton will effectively negate Dusan's shortcomings.

Ristic with 22min/g matching his 22min/g from last season. Opened last season with the same minute load. Nice.

Miller is also making Ristic finish these blowouts. Got a rebound against NAU with 46 seconds left and a rebound against UMBC with 36 seconds left. Strange to see a starter out there with 4 "scrubs"

Right.

Did you see that the title game for this event is listed to start at 12 PM eastern time on Friday!? Which would mean it would be played in the damn morning for us Midwest & Western folks? Like, wtf!?

It is weird but with a ton of tournaments that day and only so many tv windows you have to move some title games to earlier times to maximize exposure. Sucks but it is business

Purdue and Tennessee get ESPN 2 Wednesday at noon  ESPN2 has MAUI on instead of us at 5PM

Game 1 Wed at 5PM Tucson time Watch ESPN, if we win we play Game 2 Thurs at 1PM Tucson time ESPN, we win again Championship Game at 10A.

2016 TV Schedule: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2677 ... et-tv-info" target="_blank

Louisville & Mich St weren't on TV either. Championship game was on a 1:30 Tucson time though

You only have so many windows and channels. Thanksgiving is the perfect time with school and viewers for these preseason tournaments but if you could move a few around it would eliminate this mess.

But with the NBA going on ESPN you can only play one tournament on ESPN2 and something on ESPNU and the espn family made a business decision. Cant fault them. Maui will have the final games going at that time so ESPN2 make sense for them. And they must have some stupid contract issue that they must broadcast Women's Volleyball on ESPNU during that time.

Michigan State last year was on worse streaming platform and no tv.

Not everything that goes against U of A is personal. It is business and if playing U of A vs NC State was the best for business for ESPN over Villanova and WKU at 12:30 local time 11:30am Pacific time it would.

U of A does not pull the ratings Duke UNC Kentucky or Kansas does.

Of course I did, those programs pull bigger ratings though, thats the point.

Upon further review, Duke's first round game in 2012 Battle 4 Atlantis was streaming only, Kansas' first round game in 2013 Battle 4 Atlantis was streaming only, UNC's first round game was moved to the earlier slot to be on ESPN2 in 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis and Michigan State's first round game in 2016 Battle for Atlantis was streamed only.

I will be watching.

The difference is that I am not freaking about about something that I have no control over and crying foul when there is no foul. I would love for it to be on TV but get the reasons behind why it is not. There is no bias or personal feelings or any slight against U of A as to why this is a ESPN3 game and not a ESPN2 game at 10AM or 12:30PM. I think a 5pm on ESPN3 might actually be better overall.

It's a foul in the sense that ESPN has 272926 different networks it could put the game on. If this were on ESPN NEWS or ESPN Classic that'd make a lot more sense than online streaming only.

Streaming is going to limit the audience to Arizona fans only (and the more committed ones at that). Plus, have fun streaming on the way home from work.

Being on national TV will add an entire audience of people that aren't committed fans, which could be 100s of thousands of college kids looking for the good game on TV, people who stay at home during the day, etc. Streaming the game at work isn't really that much of a detriment compared to streaming elsewhere either. I bet more people watch ESPN's regular daytime programming than would stream this game actually.

Prh. Nail meet head. Great post.

I'm just going to be straight about this: I will get emotional about this. This is MY team. A team that is #3 in the nation, a very real shot at wining the whole thing this year, and a member of a handful of teams (8-10) that have sustained history of being competitive at a high level for many many years.

I'm not a graduate of Chico st, a directional Michigan school, or wazzu. If i was I could accept being relegated to 3 or 4 tier viewing status. But I'm not and I won't.

It's a bloody shame the top 3 team in this nation with heaps of NBA talent after this season agaisnt a viable decent opponent can't get top, hell even second tier, billing for next weeks game IMNSHO.
