Media Mixing Up Arizona and ASU

Not sure which thread to put this, but it feels right here. Need to revive this after it was left on the original site.

In the last month:

Chris Fowler called Arizona ASU on Gameday when talking about the game vs USC

A national award for KaDeem Carey was shipped to ASU Athletic Department

This "Arizona State" shirt is actually Arizona:

I will continue to add to this thread since it seems to happen weekly. Please do the same.

Heard an announcer call Oregon "Oregon State."

There's this. Pretty funny, if you ask me.

http://downtownspokane.kxly.com/news/co ... hool-cover

Students at Washington State University did a double-take when they received their free student planners from The Bookie this week. The cover features a picture of a cougar, the iconic Bryan clock tower and a building that was a little harder to identify.

Down at the very bottom of the cover, with beautiful brick and elegant cherry trees is Savery Hall, a building located at the heart of the campus of WSU's sworn rival – the University of Washington.

On September 27th before gameday Sportscenter mixed up Oregon and Oregon State. Sportscenter was previewing USC vs Oregon State but had the Oregon logo

Everyone who thinks it only happens to UofA & ASU or even more so then other schools just have confirmation bias. You only notice what you pay attention to. Post all the examples you want but its just something that supports your preconceived notion.

And no ESPN doesn't hate your team either.

This is my t-shirt. Sold outside the 1997 Rose Bowl.

You've heard of something like this before??
http://www.pacifictakes.com/2014/10/14/ ... k10-update

The story of Columbus Day, Ka'Deem Carey's All-American plaque was mailed to ASU's athletic office and there's one major unanswered question from this tweet; of all people, shouldn't the American Football Coaches Association know the difference between Arizona State and that other school in Tucson? That's kinda what you guys do...

I am sure it is not the first nor the last time an award gets mailed to the wrong school

People from other schools don't know that happened. Hell, most Arizona fans don't know that happened. But we're supposed to know of examples at other schools? Why would we? That's the point.

You're saturated with Arizona information. You seek it out. Of course, you're going to see more "Arizona" mistakes than any other kind. How is this even debatable?

Now if you have a theory for why so many are conspiring or are accidentally against us, please explain.

I was listening live, pretty sure Pasch (or whoever was doing play by play) said "No, Alabama". But I thought it was because Walton asked who they played, didn't here the Indiana part.

He went from 4* to 5* and said "I think I can do better than Bobby"

(Don't check that fact, it does sound plausible though)

the chryon error, to me, is just indicative of how little Phoenix area media care about college sports.

It's one thing for east coast media to truly mix us up. But for it to happen locally? I highly doubt someone is trying to be cute and risking trouble at work to make a funny. The person responsible either half reviewed the story or ignored it completely and assumed it was about ASU, which means they have no idea what is going on, which is about right for Phoenix media on a college sports story.

They become "YOUR Wildcat Channel" when we advance in the tournament. Otherwise, college sports to Phoenix media is somewhere between the Coyotes and Rattlers on their list of focus. It's always been the most damning thing I can say about Sun Devil athletics...no one in the valley really cares. The diehards are literally dying off.

But I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and blame my old/drunk brain because as I said to myself right after, “that dude’s done a billion UofA games and there’s no way he’d screw that up.”
