Passing

Bob Kemp is really going on and on about the Cats lack of ability to pass the ball.

Can't say I completely disagree with this and have thought this for a while. This team needs to make better passes and not turn the ball over when passing.

Especially because of the lack of shooting and FTs, you cannot fail to get the ball to the right guys in the right positions.

Bob Kemp showed why he is the best in the business. Terrible passing game vs UNLV

I completely agree. This team won't achieve anything if it can't pass the ball better.

Defense and passing are two big reasons for the loss on Saturday.

When only one guy on the team passes well, that is an issue.

Hopefully next year passing improves

I'm passing on this thread.

That pass by Ashley at the end of the first half could have been the difference. Gave ASU a lot of momentum going into half and made them believe.

Flat out embarrassing.

Anu Solomon should walk on. Ortege Jenkins did under Lute. So did Peter Hanson who was a blocking specialist.

.
So who besides TJ passes well? How are entry passes coming along? Why does U of A have a FG% in the top ten, 30th in PPG, but in the hundreds for assists and a underwhelming 1.17 Assist to TO ratio?

What about defense on Saturday?

Boing! Boing! Boing! Pass!

I've noticed that during whiteouts, we pass much better. The white provides a cleaner background. I'm going to call Bob Kemp, and see what he thinks.

Hope to see you all at the next alumni event, where we can discuss this.

Not close actually.

Flat out embarrassing was watching the BJ Denker-led Cats get curb-stomped by ASU 14 months ago.

Well, he's asked for it repeatedly, so that's kind of where we are on this matter.

One time I watched a game. I watched with this guy Bob Kemp. We were at Arcadia Tavern. Everything, including the passing...was wonderful.

Bob Kemp... The best in the business.

Read the first 2 words of the post initiating the thread, and let Google be your friend.

In other news related to the first post; Arizona ranks 3rd in TO's in the conference and is 1st in TO margin.

He hosts a sports radio talk show - I'm assuming in Phoenix.

Yes but he was national for a long time and won national awards. Loves talking about betting as well. A little dull and a bit of an ahole at times, but is the most knowledgeable person on the radio I have heard.

I get it that Kaleb struggles to catch passes, but I do not see this team moving the ball that well besides TJ. Was really expecting more and this could come back to bite the team in games that matter a lot more than UNLV and ASU

Am I the only one who thinks the ball movement has actually improved this year? We actually pass with meaning this year, instead of playing hot potato til there is 5 or 6 on the shot clock and making a guy like Nick Johnson create and get off his own shot. And TJ has improved himself lately in terms of asserting himself on offense and making teams pay for not respecting him as a scorer, which make his passes all the more meaningful. Not looking at pure numbers here, just eye test.

TJ needs to pass the ball to himself since he is the only one who can pass well and catch well. Legal in college. Just toss the ball towards the basket, use your screen, grab it, lay it in.

RHJ needs to pass it back out when he gets doubled. If he gets the ball in the paint he is one black hole.

I'm with you. I'm not as good with numbers as many on this board but that said, I absolutely think this team passes better than last year. Again, strictly on a novice's eye test.

One advantage of having Stanimal out there is he actually wants the ball in pressure situations.

Not like last year when it was:

Here's the ball, you take it.
No you take, I don't want it
No, you take it back, you got it now
I never called for it, it's yours

RHJ is also calling for the ball more, but tends to take out of control shots or dribble in traffic.

Agree. Isn't our ADJ O better this year? Just think what it would be if more than one guy could pass competently.

Some of those RHJ shots fell against ASU. They were tough ones. I predict he will double down on that, and it won't go the same way.

There is a second guy, but he was out with a concussion due to a "basketball move"

Is he the ".5" off the bench?
