Minutes? Give Matt Korcheck the game ball.

Now that is how you play the post at Arizona. Time for Matty to get in the rotation and apply heat to Zeus.

Told you guys over a year ago that Matt would help this team win a game or two. :D Really happy for him tonight. My son played club ball with Matt and it's always great to see a player get his chance and make the most of it. Well done Matt!!

I know fouls were a huge issue for our bigs tonight, but...

Tarc: 23 minutes, 5 points, 3 rebounds ... would have been 3 points if not for a dunk with less than 15 seconds left on the clock.
Ristic: 11 minutes, 0 points, 2 rebounds
Korcheck: 5 minutes, 4 points, 2 rebounds

Couple of things at play here from what I saw:

- The guards did not do a great job of getting the ball into the big men in good position to score.
- The game plan on offense seemed to be to have the guards penetrate and then kick out to SJ/Bash/York/Pitts.
- All of our bigs seemed to be busting their ass on the defensive end, so on offense they maybe were resting a bit.
- The fouls really took any flow out of the game and limited how aggressive the bigs were on offense saving their fouls for the other end of the floor.

Matt K looked great in the game. Made things tough for Stan, scored at the right time, grabbed res..awesome job. Deserves more court time. Got to tip my hat to him. Well done kid.

Did you see him push Nastic out of the paint one series? I wonder if Ristic and Zeus cover each other in practice, where both tend to be a little soft doing that.

Oh there are definitely other factors. As gumby points out, he was also fresher than either other player by the point of the game which we needed him.

Still, he impressed out there last night.

Korchek showed some hands out there grabbing his couple rebounds real tight in traffic. Was good to see and I'm happy he got some meaningful run. He's a solid depth guy, does exactly what is needed.

He should've gotten more minutes. In fact, we need to add 10 minutes to each half so that every player who should get more minutes gets them.

Extrapolating from Matt's 5 minutes today, his line playing the full 40 shows 16 points on 8-8 shooting, 16 boards, 8 assists with no TOs, 8 blocks. Of course you can't assume what we would have seen had he played serious minutes; now we'll never know.

Thanks Matt for being a true Wildcat and playing great every time we got to see you.

Tangara would have been great at Aussie Rules. His management missed a opportunity - maybe its still not too late, but they need to move quicky and get him into one of the evaluation camps.

EXCLUSIVE: CARLTON has made moves to sign giant US basketballer Matt Korcheck.

The powerhouse big man, who stands 206cm and weighs 105kg, will arrive at Carlton next month after impressing the club’s recruiting staff at a Florida screening camp in April.

Ruck and development coach Matthew Capuano strongly backed the move, saying Korcheck was clearly the most impressive athlete at the April trail.

As well as his power and jump, Korcheck’s endurance impressed at the AFL camp, running 3km in 12 minutes and eight seconds, in his first test over that distance.

Korcheck, 23, played basketball for Arizona Wildcats, but is extremely raw in football terms.

Capuano was extremely encouraged by Korcheck’s athletic profile and his ability to potentially carve a football career.

He will spend a few weeks at Carlton next month in the hope of signing on with the Blues as an international rookie.

He would add to the Blues big man stocks, including Matthew Kreuzer, Cameron Wood and out-of-contract tall Robbie Warnock.

Korcheck would be added to the current list under the category B rookie rules.

Carlton has paid for the costs of Korcheck’s stay next month, meaning they have first rights to sign him.

St Kilda (Jason Holmes), Collingwood (Mason Cox) and North Melbourne (Eric Wallace) have all enlisted American ruckmen under the same AFL allowances.

It was reported Korcheck’s father, Michael, was a special forces Blackhawk helicopter pilot in the US Air Force.

New recruiting boss Stephen Silvagni and football chief Andrew McKay will make the final assessments on Korcheck.

Fuck that.

St. Kilda... great.
Richmond... good.
Just about anybody else, good luck to you Matt.

But Carlton?... LOSER!!!!

Of course if it was Collingwood the response would be "DIE HERETIC" so it could be worse.

Well maybe he'll learn the game with Carlton, then get traded to St. Kilda?

One can hope, at least.
