A ranking of the Wildcats best "basketball" players.

Disclaimer: This is not a list of who the best athlete or potential NBA players are. Rather it is a list of the best "basketball" players.

Actual "basketball" players:
1. TJ-I have to think few would argue with this. Tremendous feel for the game. Has a shot at the NBA despite limited athleticism.
2. Stanley-Has a good feel for the game. Obviously a freak athlete and sees the court fairly well. Jumper needs work. Not a great "basketball" player but a very good one.
3. Ristic-Most casual fans of basketball will be shocked by this ranking but if you really understand the game you know he belongs this high. Needs to get more physical defensively but that is expected coming from Europe.
4. Jackson-Cartwright-Has a great feel and court awareness. A prototypical point guard (despite small stature) who will be one of the country's best by the time he is a senior.
-
-(fairly large gap between the next group.)
-
Potentially athletic but lacking great basketball skill:
5. Ashley- I think he has "IT" but maybe the injury effected him more than we know. Can shoot and has a good feel. Hope he picks it up next year.
6. Pitts- Lacks elite athleticism but makes up for it with competent awareness and feel. Can shoot the ball and will end up being a very good 4 year player.
7. Hollis-Jefferson- great athlete and tenacious and elite defender. Has almost no feel offensively for the game of basketball. No shooting touch. Will likely still make the NBA.
8. York- Fairly good shooter. Doesn't really have a good feel for the game. Plays quality defense.
-
-
-
Large human beings with no real basketball skills:
9. Zeus- lol
10. Korcheck- whatever
-
N/A or still mostly unknown:
Ryan Anderson-I think he will be near the top next year. Looks like a real player.
Kadeem-from what I saw in scrimmages and preseason games, he didn't seem to have "IT"
Hazzard
Mason

I would actually move Pitts up to 4 and slide Parker down to 6. I would move York down and swap RHJ to that spot because RHJ has better awareness on defense IMO

I like Parker but he has some defensive lapses, such has the 2 3 balls he gave up last night by not closing on the shooter

Every time he starts to dribble, I worry.

You are probably right about RHJ and York swapping. I suppose my list is more offensively bias when you consider Parker and Pitts spots.

I do too because he always tries to be fancy and makes things much harder than they should be. He needs to be more fundamentally sound on offense and look for the high percentage shot.

He's not a good jump shooter. At times, it really seems like he's getting by on sheer athleticism. He's also a terrific defender, so there's that.

But his offensive game is really shaky. He did not play well last night.

Amazing that RHJ won the pac-12 pow just last week but according to most of the "experts" on this forum, he shouldn't even start for us.

That just proves Sean Miller is a terrible coach. Look how far RHJ has regressed in 1 week.

you will see the thread title in the main forum, yes. but if you click on the thread, you wont see the post, unless someone quotes it of course.

::::

For example, I don't see the first post in this thread.

What you saw in preseason was nothing. Kadeem had already agreed to a redshirt and did not play. Hence, 0 minutes against Cal Poly Pamona.

So now it's out there - Rocky based his impressions of Kadeem Allen on the Red-Blue game.

Sidiki Johnson and Beau Muhlbach say hi.

You know, in terms of pure basketball ability, Michael Jordan probably wasn't the greatest. Being 6'6 and a great athlete really helped him out. There are a few WNBA players who clean his clock in terms of pure basketball skill. Overrated?

Wasn't there a post just like this that somebody linked here from a jackoff Kansas fan on phog?? Where he was comparing KU and AZ and had a category for "basketball" skills. This is just as stupid.

He will be ok. I'm not exactly sure what people expect him to do. I'm sure red-shirting will help his game some.
