Somewhat of a spinoff on which Wildcat will step up into the greats. Who is the key player for a deep tourney run and what aspect of our team is key for the same?

My vote would probably rest with Ashley. When he is active, engaged and aggressive, we're a different team. He can produce offensively vs zone and man. Solid work on the glass is also a really big thing. He's also had some of the wider variances on the team, so I'm not entirely sure what we'll see everyday.

Team wise, rebounding as well as we can is a huge deal. I feel confident with out D, and offense has somewhat of a luck aspect. When we control the glass, we win even with a bad offensive day against every West team except maybe Wisconsin. If we don't out rebound the opponent, we need shots to fall.

Tarc: 10 and 7

I would guess we don't lose a game where he hits both those numbers or better.

Stanley is the key. He's the only one who can create his own shot AND create for others effectively enough that when he's isolated he can't be doubled. He alone puts our offense in a different league from last year and I just don't sweat the dreaded scoring drought any more. If Stanley is in the game he'll find a way to score, get himself to the line, or create easy opportunities for others. He's the difference-maker.

YorkCity

if we are hitting some outside shots early, Ashley and Co. are going to be able to do some serious damage inside

4 posts, 4 different keys. That actually doesn't shock me. It wasn't an easy or straightforward answer for me.

I'm salivating over being in games where there are competent refs who actually can see that, even though he has fantastic body control, Stanley often gets mugged at the rim. This is something I've been waiting for since the day that non-conference finished.

97Cats referenced that on the Scout board. He and others are of the opinion that the refereeing will be more even because the size difference won't be as great since we'll be playing the best teams. I'm inclined to agree. Hopefully in the Tourney a foul is a foul, unlike in the Pac12 where a foul is something to ignore so you can win a trip to a sunny beach somewhere.

Except when an opposing player tosses up an ugly shot and throws himself into the defensive Arizona player, then automatic foul on Arizona. Tarc really gets victimized in PAC play.

Underrated key.

But suppose they score less than us?

No. We must control our own destiny!

If R Kelly's Ignition and Ignition (Remix) teach you anything, it is that there is only one key.

Medcalf apparently believes Arizona has a better chance than any other team in the field of 65 to beat Kentucky:

Too bad he picks Wisconsin for the Final Four.

It's kinda true..

"Bounce, bounce, bounce...bounce, bounce, bounce."

Six bounces and you win the title.

Yup. I'm not worried about TJ, Stanley, Rondae, or Ashley bringing it. If York and Zeus are playing well, we're in good shape.

Really it was those 2 guys elevating their game that was the biggest difference between how we played pre-ASU and post-ASU.

(p.s. would also be nice to see Pitts and Ristic return to being viable contributors as they were earlier in the season....seems like when York and Zeus stepped it up, those two guys lost their confidence.)

Ashley. The opposing team's free throw % defense.

1. York and pitts. Need some scoring from our bench and they have to make their wide open shots.
2. Zeus playing as the biggest man on the floor. We have seen glimpses and spurts of Zeus playing at his best. He can't be unnoticed while on the floor. He needs to gobble up the paint and make his bunnies.

Keep doing what got us here
- 50% FGs and get to the FT line
- knocking down midrange Js and discourage teams from packing the paint - ASHLEY and TARC. Loving this duo's aggression need to continue that.
- taking only the 3's that "feel so right", not out of clear and obvious desperation. (the last resort of any offensive possession should be give ball to Stanley and let him go to work, not an out of rhythm 3, IMHO).
- make the above referenced 3's and discourage teams from packing the paint - YorkRegionalPod!
- don't play teams that use zone D and pack the paint

Improve on what got us here
- FFS if a Christian Wood or a D'angelo Russel or a Kaminsky is torching some unfortunate soul to the tune of 30 points please double or provide some protection or gasp(!) try a zone, box-1, something! Trying a zone is not an admission of insufficient nastiness, but trying the same thing over and over expecting different results IS insanity!
- Pitts limit mistakes and shoot 3's like last year.

Pass not Pound the ball on offense

Ashley early, often vs the matchup

Impose will on the boards

Take smart shots

Win games one-by-one.

Keys to Ohio state:

...Stop DeAngelo Russell. A friggin thoroughbred with size. Teej, York Pitts will all have trouble. Might have to spend a bunch of RHJ----ouch.

...Scott and Russell can shoot. Key for Stanley to handle him.

...Be prepared for the zone(s) Matta will throw at us.

Tarc 11 points, 2 rebounds in the loss
