Sweet 16 Xavier discussion thread

So what do we know about Xavier besides its Millers old school and he and Coach Mack are buds? I have seen them in a couple games and they seem to have morphed into a typical physical Big East school.
They look, like they have at least one pretty good interior player but I would like to think wecan handle them on the glass. I am sure they will be sky high but hopefully the weardown is in full force. Would think the line would open at AZ -11 or so

Couldn't see the game...what happened to PJC and Dusan today? Looks like almost no contribution at all.....

Hopefully we got that turd worked through today and our offense is smoother from here on out.
Xavier's a good team, but this is the sweet 16. It's a good matchup for us.

Would seem so. Geez I don't even know who is in the Big East anymore.

They also lucked out having to play Georgia State who gave them a game.
Good season getting to the Sweet 16 but I don't see them coming to LA and upsetting us.
We should be focused.

I am much more confident about going against Xavier than Ohio State. Did not want to play OSU at all.

I with you on this. That first half was a nail biter when they threw that zone at us.

This game will be a battle. A grind it out war where Xavier will be highly motivated like we were in our redemption game against Duke.
we better not look past them as I keep thinking back to our 01 game against Illinois where they played so physical

I think the game will be alot like today...close and then not.
I am guessing that Stanimal and RHJ don't play offensively like they did today. Stanley's going home too...
Excited for this game.

That's how I see it too. Don't think the first half will be nearly as frustrating

If the UofA is the first game on Thursday, the game will start either at 4:10PM or 4:40PM Tucson time.

It'll most likely be after 7

I think if Wisconsin wins, the Cats play in the first game, if Wisconsin loses tomorrow, I think they will play in the second game. The reason I think that is a Wisconsin/UNC game will be more watched and the network wants that to be in prime time.

In don't know if they would put a game in staples at 4 something Pacific. Last year in the west our game was the last one of the night.

There has to be a game sometime after four because with two games there that day and with California being a 3-hour difference from the east coast, they will not start a game at Staples at 8 or 9 that night because of the time difference.

Other way around. Early game would put Wisconsin -UNC in prime time back east.

Keep a close eye on Matt Stainbrook for Xavier, he is graduating and has one year left to play. Word is his people have reached out and suggested he may look at Arizona as a possibility. Very good player.

Yes, it was possibly more of a possibility before it was known we would play them in the Sweet 16 from what I am hearing, there is now possibly some concern that it would look bad on him to come here if they lose to us. But there is interest on both ends of this. I really like his game.

No, this is his third season playing.
Transferred from Western Michigan, so he sat out 11-12 season:

That is my understanding of it also, one year at Western Michigan, sat out then played two years for Xavier and there is definite interest in Arizona, but I will double check on that, this is what I saw on another board, there was a big discussion about him, I will have to try and confirm.

Ah that may be the issue, Merkin. I did see the stats on ESPN and it only shows one WMU. That may be what people are missing, but several people did insist he had reached out to Arizona. Who knows.

Merk just posted his stats from 4 years of playing in games for an entire season. He would have no eligibility left.

ESPN only has TJ with one year at Duquesne too:

No idea why ESPN is dropping off the first year.
