Just have to laugh at Kansas in the top 10. I do agree with North Carolina in the top 5

Like ESPN's reason for sticking Wisconsin into the tail end of their rankings:

""By now, Badgers coach Bo Ryan has earned an honorary spot in every preseason poll until his career is over...But come on: Do you really want to be the guy who picks Wisconsin to struggle? Do you really think they'll finish worse than fourth in the Big Ten for the first time ever? Would you really assume Ryan won't find a way to turn Hayes and Koenig and a bunch of pieces into another top team? Do you really think the end of the most brilliant season of Ryan's Division I coaching career really is the end?""

Really have a lot of respect for Bo Ryan as a basketball coach. (Losing to him with dignity helps :( ) His roster is confined to local Great Lakes products, none of his guys were McD All-American's and yet through the tournament they faced 26 others, and his overall body of work is consistently good.

Holy Crap. The odd thing is, I think Decourcy is the best hoops writer out there. Is he waaay off base, or does he know something about Tarc and Ashley? Nah... Best not to hope.

That 8-12 range is really fair if Zeus returns. LOL @ the number 2 ranking though.

Even if tarc and Ashley returned #2 would be ridiculous.

If we are #2, college basketball is in trouble

Dunno. Hypothetically speaking, Tarc and Ashley would be the best front court in the nation. Ristic and Anderson would be amazing backups. On the wing you'd have York, who is a known commodity as a senior and the combination of three top-25 recruits in Trier, Smith and Simon. Allen is a wildcard. PJC should be okay manning the point with occasional back up from one of the combo guards.

I could see that roster being ranked #2 in the preseason depending on who returns from some of the other top teams.

If Stanley and/or Tarc return, I love our chances of winning the Pac for a third straight year. If both leave, Pac is wide open.

With the starting five likely departing, next year will likely be an up-and-down campaign due to youth and a questionable front court. It depends on how stable Anderson is at the 4, and how much strength Ristic adds to his frame. PJC showed flashes of major ability, but will he have the size and durability to run the point with starter's minutes? The 2 and 3 spots will be loaded with scorers, but it will be a bit of let-down if AZ can't reel in one of the remaining undeclared bigs. '97 said there is no shot at Zimmerman or Swanigan, and Rabb seems to be leaning towards Cal, so it will be a bit of a disappointment if AZ can't secure one more prime recruit at the 4 or 5 position.
