It works for Kansas. Certainty, not probability is the correct word.Chicat wrote:And probably lose a lot more games.BigSkyCatinMT wrote:ASU will have a tougher OOC schedule than us for the next few years.

Best thing Hurley can do...lose to good teams and create some hope, faith, something. Losing to horrible teams always killed the conference SOS. At least Hurley has some balls, even if he over-rates them.Chicat wrote:Until it doesn't...BigSkyCatinMT wrote:It works for KansasChicat wrote:And probably lose a lot more games.BigSkyCatinMT wrote:ASU will have a tougher OOC schedule than us for the next few years.
Word. This is another game. Nothing more. Nothing less.ASUHATER! wrote:Why? Why not? Would be fun to beat them
We play a lot of games where we have a lot more on the line than the other team. A lot.Merkin wrote:A win is always good, but not sure how good it is beating down a Mountain West team. I can see trying to play western teams, but does it really help the RPI? And if 1999 comes around again and the Cats lose...
From my recollection he wasn't. Ruben's father on the other hand....Irish27 wrote:The Cats lost twice to New Mexico in 1999. They also loss at home in December to the Lobos. Before that December game, it was announced that Ruben Douglas was leaving the team. He wound up at New Mexico and had a very good career there. Too bad he was afraid to battle Gilbert for playing time.
I think it'd be cool if you gave us a list of acceptable topics to discuss throughout the offseason.Olsondogg wrote:Are we going back to the 'complain about the schedule' posts again?

This is all I needed to read. Go kick their ass in the pit.Coop Cat wrote:
I believe ASU made one Elite Eight in the '70s.Merkin wrote:Not sure why Byrne had to settle for a 1 and 1 with a lower tier conference non-tourney team. You would think a 2 and 1 would be in order.
UNM has never gone beyond the round of 32 ever. That's even worse than ASU who has never gotten past the Sweet 16.
Along with dead horses? Oh, how Pokey misses Trigger.PieceOfMeat wrote:well if we're gonna resurrect dead series....can we resurrect dead court logos too?
Hadn't heard this. When did it happen?ChooChooCat wrote:I don't mind the series at all, but I don't like that this is the replacement for the Gonzaga series. I mean are we supposed to believe that Gonzaga doesn't want to continue the home and home series with us and we had to go to the next option? Why can't we just have a series with both of these teams?
And yet you still watch. We all do.FightWildcatsFight wrote:Is it bad that I'm too young to care about this rivalry?
Also, can we stop scheduling mediocre mid-majors please?
There is no upside to watching, or playing, those games.
Our ooc can't be nothing but 13 high major top 25 teams. Gotta play mid majors.FightWildcatsFight wrote:Is it bad that I'm too young to care about this rivalry?

Even a bad trip is still a trip.gumby wrote: And yet you still watch. We all do.
I wish it was. Throw in Gonzaga and some other high profile mid-majors if we must have them.ASUHATER! wrote: Our ooc can't be nothing but 13 high major top 25 teams.
Rule #3....gumby wrote:Along with dead horses? Oh, how Pokey misses Trigger.PieceOfMeat wrote:well if we're gonna resurrect dead series....can we resurrect dead court logos too?
Terrible idea. Team would be dead by March and lose in the first round of the tournament every year.FightWildcatsFight wrote:Even a bad trip is still a trip.gumby wrote: And yet you still watch. We all do.

How would they be more dead than usual? Do they not play as hard against easy opponents? Do they not prepare as hard when they are playing weak opponents?ASUHATER! wrote:Terrible idea. yeah, the unlv game this past season netted-out quite negatively. fortunately, a tougher pac-12 conference next season should buoy our rpi and seeding. and, depending on final scheduling, i guess i don't really have much of a problem with our guys playing a nearby mwc team when it's close to finals, thanksgiving, the holiday break, etc. remember, our '16 team will be pretty green and will have to learn to manage a lot more than basketball games & practice.Spaceman Spiff wrote:We play a lot of games where we have a lot more on the line than the other team. ChooChooCat wrote:Truthfully this matchup reminds me of the Houston series we used to have, except there was a recruiting bonus for playing in Houston and there's nothing for AZ by playing in NM. UCONN was a step in the right direction for us and IMO this is a step back due to the fact this replaces the Zaga series. Honestly it seems like this entire athletic department might as well be honorary MWC members for how often we play their schools in all sports as of late. I doubt we don't renew that unlv home and home. Too many recruits in Vegas.
