Stupid article. Arizona was not a player for Zimmerman or Swanigan.

Our recruiting class positions us for another Pac title. Hard to see how this is a failure.

I do not have any problem with this article, and I am not panicking. While we all pretty much knew that we were not going to get any of our recruiting targets months before their decisions were made, it is still disappointing that we could not bring in anyone to fill that last scholarship.

Cal should be much better this year. Cuonzo Martin is doing something right.
Missed on Swanigan, but great in coming class.

This doesn't make me mad at all because we still have a top-3 class (#2 in my opinion). What makes me mad is that Cal adds their first bigtime players in seemingly forever and all the sudden they are considered better the top team in the Pac. I think Brown will be huge for them but I forsee Rabb getting schooled by Anderson in our match ups.

We did fill that scholarship via Mark Tollefsen and getting back Zeus. Depth is abound.
Btw if we missed out on Rabb, Zimmerman. And Swanigan then so did the rest of the major college basketball world. Every single one of them went to hometown schools and their talent dictated they were better than their decisions. This was not Arizona's fault.

It is a joke. Zimmerman was never really in play. Swanigan was apparently never in play. Rabb is the only one that was a miss. Miller generally has had a very good record at securing commitments; he has won more recruiting battles than he has lost. No coach gets all the players he wants; Pitino, Cal, Matta, Williams, K, etc. all have lost recruiting battles. Not sure why suddenly it is a mark against AZ or Miller. AZ still brought in a top five class! Because Rabb chose his hometown school fairly late in the process means that now AZ is somewhat less relevant? Granted, the article does point out that AZ still is loaded, but that it was a loser in the spring signing period; again, it lost the commitment of the only player it targeted. That is one player. Not really a loss. Maybe a slight bruise the ego, but not really a loss.

When you are a recruiting loser despite a consensus top 3 class, you have high expectations.

Not even giving the story a hit. Responses indicate that the piece reeks of SI being disappointed by Arizona the last two seasons.
And as far as what Cuonzo Martin did right at Cal, it's no different than what Todd Bozeman did. Might be worse, in fact. Nothing is won in the recruiting battle except a talking point.

Cal got a strong recruiting class. It happens. Do it again, like next year, and I'll be impressed.
