It leaked out last year that they were going and I have been saving money ever since. It will be pricey, but I plan to be there.

It's usually thanksgiving time. Like the 22nd-25th of November in 2017.

Yes, remember this is next year, not this year
The Battle 4 Atlantis is a Kerzner International-owned and -operated preseason college basketball tournament that takes place in late November of each year, at Atlantis Paradise Island on Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas, on the week of Thanksgiving. The games are played in the Imperial Arena, a grand ballroom which is turned into a basketball venue.[1] The tournament is known for being the richest Division I Men’s pre-season college basketball tournament. Schools are awarded $2 million in exchange for their participation in the event.[2]
The tournament is televised by AXS TV, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU.[3]

USC is also going to be top 3 in the league but only play them once.
18-0 is realistic

So what is that 3 of 5 seasons where Arizona and UCLA only play once? That's 2 less chances for good wins on our resume next year. But 18-0 is possible

Someone tell me again why Larry Scott is the highest compensated Power 5 conference commissioner.
Sean Miller should just say "fvck it" and tell Duke he'll play them in Cameron because our own conference is full of idiots who don't understand scheduling. A loss on the road at Duke will do more for our resume than beating the tar out of Wazzu, Cal & UW.

I love to trash on every thing that is Larry Scott, but the rotations for who we play once or play twice have been set since before the Pac-12 officially became the Pac-12. It's all about equality or something. Scroll to the bottom of this link. If we could kill the travel partner bullshit then I think we could easily move away from this scheduling pattern and ensure we get UCLA twice a year every year, but until that happens this will be the norm.

I see it the exact same way. And when this was created both Arizona and UCLA were not very good. When this expires I would like to see U of A play UCLA twice every year but this was the right thing to do at the time and it cant be changed until it expires.

Sorry if posted elsewhere, but how is our OOC schedule looking for 2018-19? 2019-20? I think we've got some more games with Gonzaga coming up, which is always good, but who else?
My OOC wish list would be:
Duke
Kansas
Wisconsin
UNC
Florida
SDSU (not so much for RPI reasons but because it's 30 minutes from home)

When Ryan Hanson used to do the basketball scheduling for Lute, he posted on TOS that they wanted to do a one and one with Duke, but K said they would only do a 2 and 1, with the 2 at Cameron.

Actually, why the hell not? We're as strong as any program in the country right now. If K wants to be stingy on the road games, fine. I'd happily take 3 games vs. Duke, even if two are at Cameron.

Because you don't get assrammed by K for a game when you can get games in neutrals by being a part of tournaments. I'd love to go head to head with Duke for a recruit and have K note "that program is so thirsty, they actually took a 2 for 1 from us."
There is something to reputation. You act AND play like a big time program. Taking Sisters of the Poor deals from a contemporary is ludicrous.

At this point, with the condition of the Pac 12 being so weak and essentially top heavy, I see no reason not to change philosophy on OOC scheduling. It's not like there's a great deal of parity in the Pac 12. The Pacific NW teams & Cal would all be in danger of going winless in a normal Pac 12 season. Stanford will be a bubble team, Utah is likely an NIT squad. Colorado & ASU will win some games solely based on the weakness of other Pac 12 teams. Arizona, USC & UCLA will be tourney teams and Oregon will likely get there.
With the Pac so weak, what do you have to lose by visiting Duke or another national power other than a single game? Schedule the game and play and explain that you'd love to play Duke again but they didn't want a return visit. Make it an issue for the media to discuss. You don't have to be a jerk about it but just be vocal that Arizona would love to play anyone, anywhere but teams like Duke apparently are intimidated by visiting McKale Center but we'd love to have them.
Arizona could and should win its other OOC games. It's not as though the 'Cats have some tough road trips scheduled. Visiting Duke wouldn't cost any money (it would actually be a decent payout in revenue). A loss to a top 5 team on the road is no big deal and will certainly help the players later in the season. And hell, we might even win at Cameron which would be awesome!

That was my old position too BUT seeing as how really weak and crappy our OOC is these days...coupled with the stupid, unbalanced P12 schedule that will make us miss @ UCLA and @ USC this year, I've changed my mind.
Let's bend over backwards, let Coach Ratface screw us over, then publicly shame him after the ink is signed
. Getting desperate for decent OOC nowadays.
PS. I believe Duke lost the last time they dared play at McKale and I was actually there to witness it in person 2 OT? 1990 or 1991?

Our OOC scheduling is not middling to weak every year.
Nothing to wonder about.
Our home schedule is weak OOC. But we play neutrals like everyone else. Check how many OOC road games Duke, MSU, Kentucky, etc., plays. Then get back to me.
We participate in a high profile showcase of some sort every year. Sometimes, the opponent(s) fall off from when we scheduled it. MSU this year, for example. But we do what everyone else does. When has a lack of a major home game in November affected us in the slightest in the last, oh, 7 years? It hasn't. Crowd? Full. Overall SOS at end of year? Sufficient. Ability to get a top seed? There every single year if we win our conference or place in the top 2 or 3.
So, other than want, what makes us need to play two at Duke for one at home? I'd rather not bend over and just beat them in NYC, thanks.

I had the same thought, and memories of the Pigskin Classic v. Penn State. That was the beginning of the end for Tomey. What a beat down that was. Tomey cut out the tackling drills due to being short on depth, and the UA defense thought they could just put a shoulder into the PSU ball carrier and they would go down.
And even that defense is so much superior to today's Cat team.
