Looks like a price increase. Just not going to be as fan friendly as the MGM Grand Garden. Go from a college arena setting to big corporate. Too bad as they finally had something right

Is it just me, or did prices escalate for everything this year? I didn't go last year, but man hotels are expensive.

Oh and where to stay this year? The venue is behind NY NY?

Yep. up across the board. Pac was in a tough spot. I don't think they wanted to move but if they didn't they would have been one upped by the MWC who would have moved into the biggest arena in Vegas.

Maybe they will make it work or move the first couple days to the MGMGGA and then the semi's and finals to this POS corporate arena

I got a pair in the 100s but its a stupid ticket system. Ticketmasters pic a seat is way easier. But dont worry, fees are still charged.

We will see how this year goes. MGM GGA was great as a venue. And it was a slower weekend for Vegas before spring breaks and the NCAA tournament. This year NASCAR is the same weekend and there is a big construction convention which is driving up, no pun intended, the hotel and airline pricing.

The closest place to stay is the Monte Carlo. It's about a three minute walk from the main entrance to the entrance of T-Mobile.

And like in years past, if anyone wants a link to discounted hotels, send me a PM with the number of rooms you need, first and last name of the person making the reservation, and the email address you want the link to go to.

VegasCat: I read that the Monte Carlo resort is being replaced by a new hotel. Do you know if it is going to be kept open while they
transform the hotel into a new resort??

Yes it will. It's not being torn down, just remodeled and rebranded. From what I was told they're going to start renovating the rooms first before they do anything in the casino. The new showroom will be open before the end of this year. Seats about 6000 people. They still don't know when they're going to officially change the name to the Park at MGM though. Could be two years, could be three years. No decision has been made yet.

big venue because i believe mgm designed it to attract an nba team to las vegas, though i could be mistaken.

also i think @vegascat mentioned a while ago some sort of credit or membership card that waives the parking fee at the mgm properties - is that right? are there also deals or exclusives at the venue for tmobile subscribers?

If you get an Mlife credit card (Mlife is the name of the Player's Club), having the credit card automatically bumps you up a tier as far as the player's club is concerned and that tier lets you have free parking. You don't even have to use the credit card, just having it is enough. There's nothing that I'm aware of for T-Mobile subscribers getting any kind of perks, like on tickets or parking. Just better cell service in the arena I'm guessing.

I saw in the Wildcat Wednesday that they have a link to deals for MGM property hotels. I Just checked my prices I have access to and I'm able to get the rooms cheaper if you're interested. Not a lot cheaper, but still cheaper, maybe $20-$40 a night depending where you're staying. Prices are jacked way up this year because NASCAR is going on the same weekend and they'll be well over 100,000 people in town for it. Maybe up to 130,000-140,000.

Ok...so sitting today it looks like this:

1. Oregon vs. Rado/Furd winner
4. Cal vs. Utah/ntOSU winner

other half

2. Arizona vs. ASSU/Wazzu winner
3. uCla vs. USC/UW winner

I dunno how everyone feels, but I'd prefer our Thursday matchup over the others....

The only thing too me thast makes this feel different is we didnt get a shot at them at home. It would have been a tough game but it is not unimaginable that we would have beat them

The schedule gives Oregon the inside track with one home game against Arizona without a game at McKale, and it gets to be Oregon's title?

Maybe UCLA will beat California, Arizona, and Oregon. Okay, no, that's too hard.

While I'd prefer Oregon's path through ASU/Cougs and Utah, I really want to play UCLA again. And after that, I really want to play Oregon again.

Here's why I like Arizona in back-to-back-to-back games: Depth on the wing, depth at center, and versatility at point guard and power forward (the latter gives versatility at center as well). If Arizona gets beat, it won't be because they're more spent than their opponent.

Really? We get blown out by them and this is the response?

Also CU is hot right now. Thursday won't be easy if CU beats Washington State Wednesday

And 8/11 games are on the PAC 12 network. So really unless you have something besides DirecTV and live in AZ, Utah, Colorado, California, Washington or Oregon...You won't see anything besides 1 semifinal and the final. Pretty much no one east of Texas will even know the PAC 12 tournament took place.

It is so true. I find the games because I'm a freak fanatic and do whatever I can. But it's not like any of my friends casually sit around and watch, or know what's going on too much because the P12 is just not on enough. Especially the conf tournament as you've outlined above. P12 is out of sight out of mind for tens of millions, prob hundreds.

It's amazing how the #1 seed is shafted completely unless it gets to the championship game. Imagine busting your ass, having a great year, winning the conference, and being rewarded with being relegated to the Pac-12 Network for the majority of your games in the conference tourney. I am not defending Scott here but you have to realize how tv works. You only have so many slots to fit games and ESPN already has so much inventory with big ten acc and big 12. A fox deal would have been better than this or nbc sports but we want ESPN so this is what we get,

The disadvantages of being on the West Coast.

If that Oregon game started a half hour earlier, then it would fit in an entire time slot on ESPN2 that doesn't have college basketball (regular programming). Even the game after it on ESPN2 is the Big10 first round, 12/13 vs 5. That's a pretty lousy game to have there. Also, ESPNU is showing SEC swimming and diving during that game, and regular programming until 5 MT. There's absolutely no reason SEC swimming should be on ESPNU (instead of SEC net) while there are top 10 basketball teams playing.
