The Ginja Ninja is the real deal. He's been on campus a buttload of times already as well.

Mannion is a great example of how hard it is to project at that age. He stays 6'1 and he's a pretty meh prospect for a high major. He grows to 6'5 and he's a really good prospect.

I heard his dog runs really hard but has suspect hands.

The Instagram link in NYCat's post says he's now 6'4''. I'm all for bringing him in -- there's no such thing as too many guards in college. Gotta sign the local guys when they're Arizona good.

Hopefully he reclassifies, think he's a year older than his class like Bagley was

I'd move the Mannion stuff to the 2019 thread.

Wright is making Nova into Guard U. Pretty sure any elite guard would entertain an offer from Nova these days. That’s the hottest program in basketball.

Yes I agree but he was being praised for not getting involved with many elite prospects when the b.s. broke. It wasn't that he didn't wanna play in that field he just couldn't get them. Now he can and will play that game like any coach would

Mannion's not a one and done. I like his game, but Nova probably sees him more in the Brunson mold.

Also: "We don't get involved in dirty recruiting."

picks up Quinerly

Good things happening for Nova and no real hate towards them, but the fans need to catch up.

Mannion is bigger and way more athletic and still a sophomore. Nba scouts will be after him harder than brunson

I don't hate Nova either because I'd have done the same thing with Quinerly if roles were reversed. It is BS that we get hammered for Book asking for money and saying it was for Quinerly, but no one makes a peep when Quinerly signs with Nova.

Dayten Holman, a four-star guard in the class of 2020 from Oklahoma, will play this season at Bella Vista, a Scottsdale prep school.

The 6-5 Holman, now rated No. 73 nationally by 247Sports.com, visited Arizona unofficially last week. He’ll play for Bella Vista’s Kyle Weaver, who coached former UA star Deandre Ayton at Phoenix Hillcrest Prep for two seasons.

Any real sharpshooters that we are targeting in this class? Crazy to me, after all this talent we have brought in, that we cant have a real spot up shooter that runs to the corner on every play and converts. I think originally that's what Randolph and Smith were supposed to be, but obviously we see what happened with that...

My grandson (who is 6’5” with a size 16 shoe) plays as a freshman on the JV team. I stayed to watch their varsity team and they have a kid by the name of Shon Robinson. Kid is incredible. Are we recruiting him? He has a high level game

Yes, he's one of our top priorities at his position.

For someone in the know, I'm seeing a lot of offers to 4-stars. Nothing wrong with 4-stars, but does our not offering 5-stars have anything to do with scandal-induced weakened recruiting mojo? Or is just still early for the '20 class?

Not sure but I certainly wouldn’t mind a shift to a more developmental recruiting approach.

Also, my initial glance at the '20 class gives the impression that -- as a whole -- it's not on the same level as '19.

^this - I think CSM is expecting some type of sanction at some time. Having loyal guys in the program who know his system will be huge in bridging whatever gap needs to be bridged. Just as important, as a hedge against the fall of the one and done. The '20 class is likely to be the last 1AD group w/ '21 able to go straight to the NBA draft.

Finally, as of right now without any traditional transfers our roster could very easily be:

Williams (maybe?)
Barcello
Armstrong
Lee
Koloko

Lot's and Lot's of scholarships to give. If Johnson is cool with coming in with other more highly rated kids that might be 1AD and be ready to contribute year 2 then awesome. Again, that '21/22 roster is not likely to have an influx of immediate impact talent. Teams that return a lot of talent/experience are going to have a leg up for a couple of years.

Akot was a 5 star. I'm not sold on the "star" system. I prefer the eye test and a coach's assessment.

That's ok if we don't lose the entire '19 class to one and done.

The 2020 big men class is especially weak, even more so in the west coast. Not that much talent.

The 2020 class will be really interesting to watch play out and who Miller can land. In retrospect the '19 class was kind of once in a lifetime class with all the circumstances surrounding the program. Miller & the program had 3 highly rated recruits in state (although one moved for a year) who wanted to play at Arizona and for Miller. Koloko isn't as highly rated and there wasn't much competition. Nnaji is the most impressive of the bunch.

If the NCAA hovering around limits Arizona to non top flight recruits, it will be a blessing. The roster turnover and the packline don't mix well.

Yeah, there have been a number of five-star and high ranked four-stars that have come through here that do not live up to the billing, not even close. Akot and Randolph are two recent players that come to mind.
