Or has Arizona been playing a lot of teams lately that miss a ton of wide open 3s?

Good god.

St. Mary's was gassed. We're better conditioned. They wanted a street fight. Sean was game. We all got nervous but he was stone steady in his gameplan and execution. Stone cold killer. Like the coach version of Rawle Alkins.

They do miss a lot. We're 19th in the nation in 3 point D. So, whatever we're doing is working.

In the last three games that Arizona has played against quality competition (UCLA, Oregon, and St. Mary's) the opponents three point percentage is ugly...

15/68 or 22%

And that is with A LOT of open looks.

When Arizona actually plays a team that can knock down their open looks...yikes. Just look at the Oregon game from earlier this season and see what happens when teams hit their open shots against the Wildcats.

Re: Is it just me...

Posted: Sat Mar 18, 2017 7:44 pm
by basketballgod
And the biggest thing is...Arizona isn't even blowing these teams out! These teams are missing these wide open looks and the games are still going down to the last two minutes. It takes plenty of luck to win a national championship in basketball...will Arizona's continue?

Teams that hit a lot of threes win games. You're a fucking genius!

It is true... teams are tougher for this Arizona team when they make a lot of shots. We are so much better when opposing teams are missing shots

It's not so much as giving up threes, its the fact teams are missing wide open looks that they have been hitting all season. St. Mary's and Oregon are two of the better shooting teams in the country and they went ice cold against Arizona. How much longer will that continue? Who knows?

The truth is, KenPom had St. Mary's as a better team for a reason, if they played the way they had all season and hit their open looks (which they had done all season) Arizona is going home tonight.

College basketball is a goofy, goofy sport.

I mean maybe St. Mary's ridiculously weak schedule contributed to their super duper Kenpom rating or is that a fact hard to fathom?

Efficiency is adjusted against the average. SOS is a separate set of categories.

You cant troll when Arizona played like shit for nearly half the game and still effectively won this game with three minutes left, especially with your shitty angle. Whats next, Blame Landale to trying to play catch with Lauri's right hand in the low post? You have no leverage here.

All of that is besides the point. The truth is St. Mary's was right there all game even with the fact that they missed countless three point looks that they made all season. What the hell does missing an open three pointer have to do with strength of schedule?

St. Mary's shot .39% from 3 as a team this season against the 140th toughest SOS per Kenpom. Arizona shot the very same vs. the 66th SOS. You have no point. You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. Good day sir and good bye.

If a more talented team was running the kind of offense St. Mary's was running tonight, the Wildcats lose the game by 10+ points.

I was so impressed by how that team operated, always sad to see teams that play offense the way it was meant to be played go home early.

Look at their schedule, shitdick. Probably easier when you are chasing 6'3, 2 and 3 star white boys from
Utah and Idaho, rather than 5 star thorobreds. Probably easier to get a shot off and over those guys too, which helps with rhythm alone. Remember how shitty of a defender Marc Tollefsen was? Dude closed out on shooters like he was drunk and was close to worthless at Arizona. He was a stud in St Marys conference.

Make sense?

Something I've noticed over the years...Arizona fans=ASU fans=fans of any big, dumb state university.

I've fought both online and there is no difference. The funny thing is, they really think there is a difference but there isn't any.

Yeah dude, it's just you.

Teams that miss shots lose games? Holy shit, get that hot take on SportsCenter!

Next, can you tell us your theory on how "teams that score more points than their opponent tend to win"?

I'm not letting assholes shit on our site.

I've temporarily banned him.

I apparently wasn't the first, as he was banned on the 12 from his user notes.

Not sure how he got to even post this thread.

Seriously, anyone who just comes to talk unfounded shit (like the missing tons of open threes) which cannot be statistically defended and who hides his own fan allegiance needs to be banned immediately. Good move, imo.
