TUCSON, Ariz. – With the official start to the 2017-18 Arizona Basketballl season on the horizon, the Wildcats are ready for their unofficial start to the year with the 2017 McDonald's Red-Blue Game on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. (MST). The night's festivities, which include always-popular slam dunk competition, will be broadcasted live on the Pac-12 Network as well.
The scrimmage, prefaced by a slam dunk contest before, is sold out. It will be broadcasted live on the Pac-12 Network with Jim Watson and Don MacLean on the call. Doors to the event will open at 5:30 p.m. as the Disability Resource Center Adaptive Athletics game will tip off just before 6 p.m.
HiCat has been posting to keep us informed but I figured we're best served with an individual game thread (devoid of all the outside noise). Hope its helpful.

List of recruits set to attend Arizona’s Red-Blue game
Recruiting doesn’t stop at Arizona — even with an investigation ongoing
by Alec Sills-Trausch@UofAlec Oct 20, 2017, 8:01am PDT
The Arizona Wildcats are holding their annual Red-Blue Game on Friday in McKale Center.
While the scrimmage is an opportunity for UA players to debut in front of the home crowd and for the crowd to get their first look at the 2017-18 team, it’s also an event Arizona uses as a recruiting tool.
And several high-profile recruits are expected to be in attendance Friday. Here’s who we know will be there based on media reports.
This list will be updated if/when new information becomes available.
2018
Brandon Williams
4-star point guard already committed to Arizona.
No. 38 player in his class, No. 10 at his position.
Shareef O’Neal
4-star forward already committed to Arizona.
No. 33 player in his class, No. 9 at his position.
2019
Josh Green
4-star shooting guard from Bradenton, Fla.
6-foot-5, 190 pounds
No. 26 player in his class, No. 2 at his position
2020
Josh Christopher
4-star shooting guard from Bellflower, Calif.
6-foot-5, 190 pounds
No. 22 player in his class, No. 2 at his position
Nico Mannion
4-star point guard from Phoenix, Ariz. (Pinnacle HS)
6-foot-1, 160 pounds
No. 43 player in his class, No. 16 at his position
Jason Harris
4-star power forward from Gilbert, Ariz. (Higley HS)
6-foot-7, 200 pounds
No. 42 player in his class
Mentally pre-gaming and then physically pre-gaming! Who wins the Dunk Contest? Randolph?

Pumped for this game. Finally cut off Directv and have Pac 12 Network through Sling. Thanks Larry Scott, you prick. Your incompetence got me to save roughly $50 per month.

Someone convince me that Randolph isn't a first rounder, this year. Yikes.
Edit: Like the way Parker looks out there.

I've been saying this since before he got here, he is exactly the type of player the NBA wants. People were putting that on Akot but he isn't anywhere close to Brandon.

Blue started throwing a zone out there and red has no answer. Typical!

My wife laughs everytime he does something. Hes like watching a high school kid play middle schoolers on grade-school height baskets.
Shit, already seeing zone defenses

I think the second team could finish in the top-5 of the Pac-12. This team is loaded!

Yeah, both teams showing a zone.
This is, after all, a practice game.
Offense has to practice against the zone whether we ever use one in a game or not - cause somebody will certainly throw a zone at us sometime.

Team will be fine, but hopefully Rawle has a good and speedy recovery because this team with what we have on the floor tonight needs one more shooter to be that top 3 level team IMO.

Ayton's rebounding ability is absurd.

Well duh.
Look who is predicted to end up 6th!
Couldn't be that hard to be a game or two better than that.
Wife forgot to record for me. I was away from my phone and computer and couldn't log on to my DVr remotely to do it.
Am I SOL for a replay?

The Pac 12 Network has many options if you live in a 3/4 mile swatch of Saskatchewan and subscribe to DirecTV. Beyond that, it's sort of a crapshoot.

I'm curious if anyone saw any evidence of Romar's effect on the offense? I was hoping we'd see Romar sort of run the same defense this year and let Miller focus on defense.

For all the talk of high schoolers, our transfers look alright.
Jeter is going to be a nice piece next year. He looked really raw, but had a presence to him. Dylan Smith's shot is very smooth, not as a PG, but a pure SG.
If we have a bad recruiting 2-3 years, I think we can whether the storm with multi year players and transfers. Afterall, no matter how high our recruits are its S16 or E8 anyway eh?
