Do we need a thread? Here's the field.
First game for Arizona is NC State on ESPN 3. They run the press.

So the championship game is at 10am Friday? Also the consolation game is following the championship game? That seems odd

If a basketball game is played somewhere but no one can really see it, did it ever even occur?

It is really odd but needed because other tournaments have longer standing and longer history with ESPN so they have their games in later windows. This is what is needed to get the games on the TV

We have precedent for it with Chaminade (I know you're being facetious but it's kinda similar)

Purdue is very good. Far better than Tennessee. If they beat Nova (possible) then we see a clash of titans between Isaac Haas and Deandre Ayton.

Also would've been nice of Nike to invite their premier Nike bb PAC 12 school to the dance.
Furd getting a standout OOC schedule.

Reminds me of the Jamelle Horne fiasco in the pre season NIT that sent them to the TV-less consolation bracket in Athens Georgia.

Everyone's anticipating an Arizona vs. Villanova championship game which means it probably won't happen. As long as our Wildcats win.

I could see it happen where one team looks past the semi and comes out flat, but anything other than AZ/Nova in the final would be a tad surprising.
Excited for Atlantis! So excited in fact that I went to see Justice League yesterday!

Purdue could get there over Nova.
They're strong in the post with 7'2" 290lb Isaac Haas and 6'8" Vincent Edwards, both seniors on POY-at-their-position watch lists. They're backed up by 7'3" freshman Matt Haarms and 6'10" junior Jacquil Taylor.
Purdue is big and deep in the front court - Nova has neither of those strengths.
Nova relies on a 6'8" RS freshman at C and a 6'7" junior at PF with freshmen backing them up. Haas and Edwards could put them in foul trouble and change the tone of that game, because Nova after their first six is very thin. It's just three sub-top-50 freshmen. They've got a Barcello-like backup PG and two mediocre wings (the
most promising of the two is averaging 0.091% shooting
- not a typo).
Conversely Nova is bigger and more talented at the guard and wing (though Purdue can really shoot the three). It'll be interesting to see if either advantage takes the win.
Either way we get a good matchup. The big, inside-out game of Purdue with Ayton v Haas, tough bigs and sharp outside shooters... or the quick, moving, probing 4 out motion offense of Jay Wright that tests the focus and discipline of the opposing defense.

So Arizona has been eliminated the last two times in a preseason tournament by a big east team by a score of 69-65
2015 - Wooden Legacy:
Arizona: 65
Providence: 69
2016 - Las Vegas Invitational:
Arizona: 65
Butler: 69
Fuck big east teams at this point

Hey Stat,
I know its off topic, but we are thinking about Thanksgiving in Maui next year. What is the time line for getting the booster 3 Arizona game tickets? Like when do they typically go on sale and time line before they're sold out.
I can imagine they go really really quick.

purdue/tenn going down to the wire
weird camera angle presumably because of the low floor

Anyone else notice the bump/weird rise in the floor on the left side of the court from the viewer's angle?
Look at the baseline right below the basket, it looks like the line bends away which would indicate a rise in the floor right there...definitely some kind of inconsistency in that floor there...

Ya it does look raised. Pretty far under the basket though

They bring the floor in. So it's probably just the difference from the dance floor to the court.

Well NC St goes down to Northern Iowa and gets outscored 8-2 in the last minute to lose 64-60.

I think this just goes to prove last night was one of those weird ass games and this gets the teams attention. Bear down and beat SMU. Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope so, but our defense is a major concern. Freeman and Beverly combined for 19 points today. Each dropped 20+ on us. Northern Iowa had less rest than NC State but held them to 60 points. We allowed 90.

If everyone steps up tonight we should be able to hold SMU below 80 points.

Oh I agree that our defense is a concern I think on a normal night we beat them by ten. But they didn't so we can't change that. Here's to putting a beat down on the mustangs tonight

WKU defeats Purdue. A win tonight means we play WKU for fifth place. A loss means we play Purdue for seventh place.

No, I think that showed that this team, regardless of all the talent, is a team that can be beat by anyone, anytime. Which, to me, would relate to an early exit from the NCAA tournament. Lackluster defense, no bench support, Trier turning the ball over (3 times) early, then disappearing for the rest of the half, pi$$ poor rebounding against a much shorter team, crap 3-point shooting. Yeah, we outrebounded them 36-30, but we should have outrebounded them by 12-15, given our length in the front court.

Tomorrow at 9:30 PM EST on ESPN3 (online/WatchESPN)
EDIT: Didn't realize you were a troll. Nothing better to do in Kansas? Your football team sucks as usual, but hopefully you can find work once Brownback is out of office.
