I got to catch a good portion of the Zags game again TAMU last night and they look very solid. I think their bigs would give Arizona trouble and the backcourt of Norvell and Perkins is as good as any around. Well see what happens Monday before I make any conclusions.

Let the game get loose and have Zion catching lobs on you and you'll get killed. Keep a controlled tempo with few mistakes and hit your shots and they're not unbeatable.
I'm clearly flat out frightened by this Duke team, but I agree with your follow-up on why they're not so scary (in theory). My biggest concern is that their strengths in their size, toughness, and rebounding are our weaknesses.
Yeah, I'm not cocky and I think we'll lose. That said, we're averaging under 9 to's a game and our turnovers have gone down every game. If we play thay clean and hit shots, I think we'd give them a game.

The glass is probably where we'd lose that, but I feel like we have the ability to play clean and not get rattled, which I think is big in blowout vs close one.

Wiggington has a broken bone in his foot, he's out until December at least.

If we beat Duke next week, I would still expect the morning after, front page article to be a Schlabach article about college hoops corruption with a pic of Miller front and center.

That was a good win.

What was a great learning experience.

First real test and they gutted it through and we all learned something!

It seems like this team has more spirit and character than last year. No folding up the tents.

Midway though the second, we were down ten, shooting poorly from 3 and getting killed on the glass. We just kept fighting.

My thought is that we would need almost 40 points a night from the Brandon's if we want to win against decent competition. We only got 25 from them tonight but still pulled it out thanks to Coleman. Coleman was fantastic but I don't think we should be expecting that kind of game from him too often. We really need the Brandon's to play better

Yup. Resilient. Give Coleman the floor General keys, he has stones. Maybe it’s transferable to the others.

No sulking and pouting. We all have our own personal cats of years past that would do that and just kill the team.

We learned we have numerous good weapons. Work to set them up and we'll be a good team. When the outliers improve we'll be really fun to watch.

USC just lost to Texas Tech so if not for Arizona once, again the conference would have no Marque wins. I think Oregon got a top 50 win in a consolation game. Maybe the scum can get one tonight in Vegas in front of about 50 fans

An ugly win against a shorthanded team. AZ is a relatively young team with work to do. Still, it was nice to see them pull out this win.

While it obviously hurts their depth, the missing players were part of a losing record last season.

They were missing a likely Big 12 1st teamer, so that argument is pretty weak.

Wigginton is loads better than anyone playing on either team last night.

They are bigger, more talented, and work well together

We are still finding our roles.

But damn I loved watching the Illini take them to the wire.

I’m expecting to lose tonight but would not be surprised if we can channel whatever D we had In The second half and pull the upset.

No matter what happens the next two games, I really feel good about Miller having us ready by March.

Me too, and part of it was seeing Coleman take over. His first big game at Arizona was already better than any game PJC had in 4 years. If he can actually provide clutch moments consistently, it will be exciting to see where this team can go.

So to sum up this team currently the 5 starters are all capable of contributing positively, Ira Lee always does something positive off the bench although he does make a dumb foul or two per game, Dylan Smith can defend on the wing and if the moon is full then his jumper falls, Akot well....I don't think he even knows what he does well on the court, and Barcello is merely present. In a game like this where Williams and Randolph just couldn't get it going consistently a scoring option off the bench would just make more sense. Hoping Doutrive can find the court soon, I think he's literally the main missing piece to the rotation.

Seriously...every year there is a player who is inexplicably in Miller’s dog house?

I get his defense probably isn’t there, but everything is risk benefit in life and his defense liability can’t be any worse the paper thin Barcellos. That dude gets pushed around.

At least doutrive is a disrupted and can score.

I think we'll lose, but that's ok. It will be a good learning experience and that is huge for our development. We'll get a SOS bump, which is also big.

We need to shoot it better and be competitive on the glass. If we do that, we'll make it interesting. The base defense and offense isn't bad. We just need shots to fall and can't get destroyed on the glass.

Even if we go 0-2, this week will do much more for us than beating up on teams like Cal Poly

Honestly there may have not been a more important game for us to win all season than that game last night. We get what will amount to a very good win at the end of the season and it insures no bad losses or empty wins in Maui. Play with our asses on fire against either Zaga or Auburn and we get a huge win on our resume as well.

Yup.

Not at the kids table.

Luther beginning to come into form. Jeter too in the second half.

Coleman stepping up. More of that please!!!

BWill shakes off whatever last night was and Lee makes the most of his time...

If we can shoot to our numbers (albeit numbers from creampuff wins) and crash the glass...we’ll have some fun games.

Could not agree more. Another creator and offensive weapon off the bench is the exact contributor we need. As I said a week or so ago, you could convince me to have an 8 man rotation without Akot or Barcello...if anything, I feel more strongly about that being the case after last night.

Ahead of this tourney the Zags have been getting up more shots than we have. If we can slow them down a bit and make up their slim margin on the boards we have a real chance. Zags have very well composed second halves; hope we don't dig a big hole in the first.
