Yeah, very disappointing. Although, look at who we had in our tourneys the last two years and we only won 1 game!

All those games, aside from the Iowa State win and good showing against Gonzaga, were some of the worst games I have ever seen as an Arizona fan. Might be good to get some confidence in this young team early.

I'm always disappointed when we're in the Wooden Legacy. Like the year we lost to Kris Dunn and Providence.

It never draws really good teams, so we play games that really only hurt us.

I was at that game, it sucked all the way from the pre game dinner of Jimmy Johns to the drive back to my aunt in laws house in Santa Monica from Fullerton. Yuck all around

Was also there. Shitty game, tough Providence team.

I wonder if he will play zone against us.

It seems like we struggle against it sometimes.

Glad not many teams over the last few years have caught on to that. :D

I think we've got the tools this season to really dice up zone defenses. Nico's ability to penetrate and get his defender on his hip will be huge in breaking down zone defenses. I trust Ira and Josh and Chase to move well off the ball. I trust Hazzard to keep defenses honest from deep. Hopefully Stone Gettings is as good as I think he is and we can drop him in as a zone buster at the top of the key.

Early season it'll be a challenge but on paper we've got the tools.

Presale tickets are available to those who signed up - you should have received an email about them.

Tickets are going for $75 for the upper bowl and $125 for the lower bowl, General Admission, to include all sessions and days. That's a $25 discount from the eventual retail price and the offer expires 9/15.

If you want that discount and didn't sign up for the email blast, you can call the director of ticket sales for the event and probably work it out with him. Contact info below:

Jason Walter

Sadly I just realized I've booked a vacation with my wife over this weekend, which is a huge bonehead move since this event is in my backyard. At least I figured that out before I hit the purchase button. Hope y'all can make it and we neatly clean up this tournament. I'll be cheering on from Cabo.

Seeing this field again... good lord this grouping is trash. Providence is the only other top 100 team (likely a top 40 team) so if it's not Arizona v Providence in the final on Sunday something has gone terribly wrong.

I suppose it's nice to get off to a gentle ascent with the amount of roster turnover we're experiencing... hopefully we handle Illinois at home early and this tournament provides us the tune-up we need for our marquee games at Baylor and hosting Gonzaga. Coming out of the nonconference at 12-1 would be great, while 11-2 with wins in two of those four top 50 games is the floor for a successful nonconference.

Just seeing that it's at the Anaheim Convention Center this time around. Never seen a game there.

It would be fine if they just rename it the Rosarita Refried Beans Challenge.

I think I understand this year‘s Wooden Legacy lineup vs. next....

If you get Arizona into your tournament there’s no reason to book other marquee teams. Wildcat fans will pack the place no matter what.

If you have to settle for UCLA, you better also pull in two truly great teams because the few Bruins fans can’t make the drive from LA to Anaheim because .... uh .... traffic.

So really, it’s our own damn fault. If we had shitty fans like the Ruins, maybe we could play Kansas...

Yeah the local Newport Beach meet-up for game watching. Use to be Brew Co, which I thought sucked (their brewed beers were bad, they had no outside beers on tap, and they charged an arm and a leg for a bottle of domestic). They sold to the new owners and it's been renovated and improved with better management (better brewed beers, guest taps for other good local beers).

Anyways, it's the usual OC game watch spot. I haven't been to one in a couple of years so I'll look to head down there and catch a game sometime too.

But it cannot be denied, the line-up this year was appallingly bad. A top-tier program in a field with 3 teams representing substandard programs. Not sure why AZ agreed to play with such a weak line-up of other teams.

Spot on. I've been for probably 3 or 4 football games. Night and day from Brew Co.

Kinda wondering what kind of tournament Arizona gets into next year.

It's too early to go back to Atlantis or Maui, the top tournaments.

And Arizona never really goes to Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Orlando, Caymans etc

Might have to go to a 2K Classic, NIT Tipoff, or Hall of Fame where there's only 4 total teams and played in MSG or Brooklyn like when Arizona beat Duke a couple years back.

Maybe Las Vegas Invitational? Pickings are slim next year. Fully prepared for another weak tournament

Good call... though really, fine by me to play in a weaker tournament next season with the lack of roster continuity and the lack of lotto pick recruits we're projected to have on board next season. No shame in easing a new group into the season and taking W's over decent teams. If we gel and get into the tournament next year as a seventh seed or better - we're still playing for the same title as everyone else.

And there you have it. Texas Tech should be very good. Cincy is respectable. Saint Johns is a team.

Not a premier three day tourney but it's a tougher field than we'll have this week.

I was going to say "hey well at least we'll probably play an ACC team in Wake Forest in the final then potentially" but Wake was picked dead last in the ACC and already has a loss to Charlotte.

So in this tournament we may play Pepperdine, UCF and a mediocre to bad Wake Forest.
