The Badgers getting a lot of good press after victory over Marquette
Team of the Week: Wisconsin Badgers

There are a half-dozen really good options for this award. Northwestern took down top-ranked Purdue (the Wildcats will get their love shortly), Kansas handed UConn its first nonconference loss since 2022 and Arkansas and Georgia Tech (more on them in a bit too) both knocked off Duke. But Wisconsin led wire to wire against in-state rival Marquette on Saturday, ultimately coming away with a 75-64 win.

Max Klesmit was sensational in the first half, scoring all 21 of his points -- including five 3-pointers -- before halftime, with the Badgers jumping out to a 16-point lead just before the break. Marquette cut it to one with 11:26 left in the game, but Wisconsin responded with a 6-0 run, and the Golden Eagles never got closer than five the rest of the way. Steven Crowl finished with 16 points and eight boards.

Combined with Monday's blowout win over Western Illinois, Wisconsin has now won five in a row since opening the season with two losses in its first three outings.

Or else the whole season -- all of it -- is wasted. Yes, it's only December, but a single loss to a non-conference opponent on our floor...just no coming back from that.

Also, PHXCATS is one of the board's better posters. Always inspiring, always informative.

You said "We have to beat the Badgers at McKale. Period." So what happens if the Cats don't win?

Maybe don't make absolute statements if you don't want to be challenged about it or can't think of an honest response to it?

I didn't find your post "challenging," and I always make a point of responding dishonestly, without exception.

Think there's a disconnect somewhere.

Bear down, PHXCATS! We have to beat the Badgers on Saturday! Sorry you disagree!

Or else we don't go undefeated at home.

Or else we don't go undefeated for the season.

Or else we probably drop below Kansas in the still way too early to pay attention to ranking polls.

Or else we don't extract revenge for previous undeserved losses.

Or else we'll be doomed to crying in our beer.

I love the team. I hope they win every game but if they don't it isn't a big deal? Do you seriously freak out over the first loss of the year every year?

I am betting big on UA if the line is 8 or less. But losses happen. They aren't a big deal. No one has been undefeated since 1976.

So saying something isn't a big deal is an issue for you but someone saying some should have been aborted is totally fine? And comments about family is cool as well to you?

And yes I do know that. It was the "period" that was added after that got me to ask the question

What is going to bother me is seeing empty seats in a sold out game. People buy season tickets and then choose what games they want to attend. And many don't care about giving the tickets away or selling them. This isn't just a UA thing btw, it happens at schools all over the country.

Unfortunately missing this game as I bought 3 tree permits and we're heading to the mountains with axes. Sold my pair for triple face value and had 6 others interested. Ticket prices are insane for this game and I will be glued to the Jeffries play by play. How many years has he done AZ BBall? 30+?

We could beat Wisconsin by 30 and it won’t erase those elite 8 losses. I do understand BC’s sentiment of it being a must win because losing to those jackanapes at home with the #1 team in the nation would just add fuel to the misery.

Not many teams Arizona is 2-5 against in the country and very few where we have lost 3 straight. It will be a tough game and a great learning experience. We need to understand what March is going to be filled with and this is just one of the many times in the OOC season we will get tested.

This is a game that we need to put them down early and often, and then keep the throttle down. I hope these kids are as ramped up for this game as we all are, it's been almost a decade since those elite 8 games. I'm sure the crowd will be rearing to go.

Was Jack Murphy around for those games?

There is the thing, and then there is the way the thing makes me feel. I have a touch more distance on the thing this time around, and I hope to be a better judge of our thing. It's especially tough with Wisconsin but it serves as an excellent indicator and confirmation of objective reality. In the end it's better that Wiscy is scary good right now. Our thing should respect that and know how important it is.
