Re: Why can't we consistently fill AZ Stadium?
Define "consistent packed house" and "anymore". Looks to me like we should be able to get back up to 50K attendances somehow, because we've done that the majority of the last decade. Can we be a sellout team? Maybe not, certainly not like basketball, but perhaps we can make ourselves into a constant 50K or more team?scumdevils86 wrote:my point is then why keep complaining about attendance? it'll never happen. we'll never get consistent packed houses anymore. so why worry about it? if you wanna go, go. that's a good fan. if you don't want to go and want to only watch at home? fine. you're also a good fan. doesn't matter.UALoco wrote:thanks for making my point for me..we don't have that history and never will. Evcat had a great post and you really don't get it. Feel free to continue to kill yourself smoking but again, the overwhelming majority of people don't want it anywhere near them. Smokers don't have any rights and don't deserve any special treatment. I'd be fine with making smoking illegal within 500 feet of any public placejimson wrote:That's cool. It's amazing that you expect special facilities and treatment just because you have a deadly habit that you can't not do for more than an hour or two at a time. It's the height of selfishness to expect extra special treatment for a voluntary addiction you imposed on yourself that is dying out and already illegal to do in most public places. Just because you can't hold off on smoking for 3-4 hours doesn't mean you should the coddled and catered to.jimson wrote:That's cool. So now in demonizing smoking, we are demonizing people?
Lord almighty, even smokers deserve dignity as human beings. We all do. We are all broken or for the secular, imperfect. And what this world, certainly the American society needs, is a bit more patience and understanding with one another.
Rant off.

In Greg Hanson's Sunday Notebook, a fan shot him this e-mail. http://tucson.com/sports/greghansen/han ... a7f52.html" target="_blank
I received this email from a ticket buyer at the Washington State game: “Since I thought this might be the only game I attended, I opted for seats available on the 50-yard line in Section 105. Buying the tickets wasn’t hard, but it was deceiving: $80 was pretty pricey but since it was on the 50-yard line and not a regular expenditure, I thought what the heck. Only after selecting a pair did I find there was another $22.40 fee each for miscellaneous things plus an additional fee of $6.95 for the privilege of printing my own tickets. It was bait-and-switch; it should be priced honestly.”
I effing hate getting nickled and dimed to death. When this crap happens to me on-line whether it's added resort fees to hotel reservations, or rediculous shipping fees on on-line purchases because I live in the state of Alaska.......I just say fluck it and not do the purchases. Is asking for transparency in pricing too much to ask?

The rub is I still reserve the right to judge folks. Maybe that makes me an asshole. I've been called much worse. Right or wrong, I feel I am a better fan than folks one might call a "fair weather fan" because I contribute more time and resources. Time and resources that are appreciated by the program and one might say "contributes" to the program's success. I would prefer that there were more hard core fans because that would make the experience that much more enjoyable , win or lose...that's just me and totally selfish. It doesn't mean I can't still enjoy the games. And folks who choose to watch from home can choose to ignore folks like me that think that way. No biggie.

FWIW, I don't think the difficulty of watching the Cats on P12 helps drive fan interest at all. It's really hard to follow Arizona football.

Re: Why can't we consistently fill AZ Stadium?
I wouldn't. Fans who have to watch Arizona football form the core of our attendance. The difference between 43 and 53k are the more casual fans. Casual fans are the ones more likely drawn in by easy TV access.PHXCATS wrote:I could argue that should HELP home attendanceSpaceman Spiff wrote:FWIW, I don't think the difficulty of watching the Cats on P12 helps drive fan interest at all. It isn't good for the fan base worldwide but not having g as many options to watch in Tucson should help get butts in the seats

Not that ever filled it it up, but in all fairness that was beginning of the game. Official attendance ended up 44,553, which was about 9,000 less than their prior home beat down by USC.
Official attendance at the WSU/UA game was 42,822. USC had 93,607 for the UA game at the Coliseum.

And just so it is clear, I agree fan interest as a whole is hurt by Larry Scott and the awful choices made by the PAC-12 when it comes to PAC-12 networks. I just dont think that means less butts in the seats at home games. Sure maybe some people would go if they were a bit more exposed to it, but the buzz around town to watch the game shouldnt change since so many places still do have the PAC-12 to some extent and the news and other outlets etc. Reducing the ability to watch on tv should help get people to the games.

Agree 100 percent.
We hear all the time that with HDTV it is better to just stay and watch at home. Limited tv should be an incentive for people to go to the game. Limiter tv isn't good for anything but that.

Re: Why can't we consistently fill AZ Stadium?
With limited interest, and limited tv, more folks will be apt to just stop following. Limted tv is just going to cause the fair weather, occasional fans (that are needed to fill the stadium) to tune out more and stop caring altogether. You're certainly not going to get them through the turnstiles by having more limited home viewing options. We need to build the fanbade, not create more barriers.

Re: Why can't we consistently fill AZ Stadium?
Exactly. I'm a die hard fan of the team for 15 years and have been to 40+ games, including at least 6 on the road in that time frame. But I am also married and have other friends and family that don't care about football. I will gladly watch as many games as I can but my friends and family and wife come first. That's what imbeciles like machina don't understand. Not every Arizona fan (who is just as good of a fan as he is) has the exact same set of priorities. It's incredibly douchey and selfish to have the attitude he does. I'm much more likely to catch a game on TV lately than drag myself to the stadium every other Saturday for 3 months for 6 hours at a time when most of the people in my life don't give a shit about football. Therefore we need as much exposure and access to TV as possible so people like me (and arguably the vast majority of Arizona fans worldwide) can actually stay connected.UAdevil wrote:With limited interest, and limited tv, more folks will be apt to just stop following. Such as folks assisting a sick family member.
Or someone who has a full-time job and are improving themselves through education and uses Saturday evenings to study or work on group projects.
Or maybe someone who volunteers at Habitat-for-Humanity, building homes for those who are homeless on Saturdays.
Or folks on government assistance and choose to use the few remaining dollars to buy their children well-fitting shoes so they can go to school.
Or folks who don't live anywhere near Tucson and the travel presents too much of a hardship.
And finally, folks that contribute to or support the program in other ways, besides attending games.
For all those folks, the next comment is not for you.
Support your team or stop bitching. There are many ways to support the team. Just watching on TV and bitching on a message board is not one of them
People who support the team can bitch all they want.
That simple.

I bought a shirt and hat from the bookstore online. Does that count?

I read it and it was stupid. Blaming not going to games on your friends and wife. Unbelievable lame. Who the F8ck wants to hang out with their wife anyways. Going to U of A games is my chance to get away from her and also get the side benefit of seeing Coeds on campus which we all know doesn't suck. You can still buy tickets and donate them or give to the Wildcat club to show your true passion.scumdevils86 wrote:You didn't read my post.Rick Kane wrote:You spend hours on this website every week talking about Arizona football, you live in Tucson, yet you can not go to games? Do you at least donate to the Wildcat Club?
Do the athletic department a favor and go to the game this weekend. If not, buy a ticket and donate it. Just do something other then complain online

I figured how to post a picture!
Wish this website could make some sort of restriction where you have to either be a season ticket holder or Wildcat Club member to post? Probably sad how many people that would restrict.

Miserable??? Saturday at about 5pm I will be on the U of A mall tailgating and then attending the game with a bunch of my close friends. My wife will probably be with her girlfriends and who knows maybe they watch that stripper movie with Channing Tatum that she loves. I call that marital bliss and she would too. I always invite her but she rarely comes to games which is fine by me.scumdevils86 wrote:I'm sorry I'm not pathetic and don't hate my wife and friends and family I guess? you're not worth the posts anymore troll. I see you as the pathetic one because you clearly have a passion for Arizona football or else why would you waste your time writing so much online but your friends and family do not support your passion. That sucks and seems like a miserable life to me.

I couldn't be prouder.
Rick..I agree with you. Hanging at the tailgates and games with buds is great and then I go home and ravish my wife. It has worked for 18 years and created 3 beautiful kids.
Re: Why can't we consistently fill AZ Stadium?
Good Lord you're a douchebag. It's not humanly feasible to expect every fan in Tucson to go to every home game or else be labeled a bad fan by a terrible fan like you. You're just an embarrassment to our fanbase with posts like yours.UALoco wrote:scumdevils86 wrote:This is literally the worst post I have seen on this board. Re: Why can't we consistently fill AZ Stadium?
So it is cool to call folks names? That's constructive. I didn't say every fan had to go to every game. My point was "support the program."ASUHATER! wrote: Good Lord you're a douchebag. Re: Why can't we consistently fill AZ Stadium?
I typically only go to a game a year, not going to any this year unfortunately. Last donated to Wildcat Club almost a decade ago. I guess I am a bad fan. Maybe it's not appropriate for a bad fan to admin this site?

Re: Why can't we consistently fill AZ Stadium?
If anyone deserved it, it's definitely you right now. Nothing you have said is remotely constructive. Just is abject basement level trolling to just be a troll. And there are many ways to support the program besides going to every game. Just give up now...you're truly embarrassing yourself.UALoco wrote:So it is cool to call folks names? That's constructive. What part of "There are many ways to support the team" don't you understand? How is "support the team" not constructive? You have resorted to calling names vs. debating logically....that is the definition of asshole in my book.ASUHATER! wrote:If anyone deserved it, it's definitely you right now.
