In all due respect its been a circus within the state and certainly in the Tucson sports media. I have a lot of UofA fan friends that don't come to any boards but they do pay attention and the ones I talk to are all throwing up their hands and going, WTF is going on. I even have....yes blast me for this, I know....ASU fan friends that are looking at me and making comments like "Wow, you're making fun of us for Herm" It is indeed a circus.

Pssh. There was never any anger and outrage on social media over the potential hire of Ken Niumatalolo. It was only just "a few internet personalities and radio callers." There's a mutilated strawman laying around here somewhere that will clear all that up for you.

How about Jeff Dunham? He can bring on Walter and Peanut as coordinators.
I'm assuming Klieman brings in his championship staff that put Wentz into the NFL. Candle has been a QB/WR coach and OC and could keep Yates or bring his own staff on defense.

You may have thought I was finding fault with your post and that wasn't my intention. It was supposed to be a comment on all the names that have been dropped so far with no credibility to any of it. I have no problem with Klieman. I just want this search circus over.

And the Wildcat navy and white face. I liked that thing a lot. GB wanted to solely focus on the A. Always thought that was dumb. Tons of schools have multiple logos

Very scary ones. Scary enough that a guy who used to coach future military officers no longer wants the job apparently. Probably made him poop himself with their mean words.

Monday
Heaad coach Ken Niumatalolo returned to the Navy football offices on Saturday following an unexpected two-day absence and apparently shed no light on whether he plans to pursue the vacancy at the University of Arizona.

Niumatalolo returned to the office on the third floor of Ricketts Hall on Saturday morning and quickly convened a coaches-only meeting, sources said. Navy is hosting a large number of recruits this weekend and Niumatalolo was “fully engaged” in all the various activities, athletic director Chet Gladchuk said.

One source said assistants emerged from the morning meeting unclear about Niumatalolo’s intentions. Niumatalolo reportedly acknowledged he was considering the Arizona offer, but “had some things to work through.”

Gladchuk met privately with Niumatalolo toward the end of the day and indicated the 10th-year head coach had not made a decision one way or the other.

Gladchuk responded to a text message asking how his meeting with Niumatalolo went by stating the coach was “thinking it through on all fronts. We will have a clearer picture over the next 24 hours.”

Niumatalolo responded on Saturday afternoon to a text from The Capital seeking comment, but said nothing of substance.

It now appears a final decision may not be made until Monday. Niumatalolo is a devout Mormon and does not work on Sundays. The 52-year-old is also unlikely to want attention drawn away from Sunday’s Army-Navy basketball doubleheader.

Niumatalolo did not show up to work at Ricketts Hall on Thursday and Friday as originally scheduled and did not inform staff members of his whereabouts. According to multiple published reports, Niumatalolo was in Tucson on meeting with University of Arizona officials about the Pacific-12 Conference school’s coaching opening.

Arizona hired the search firm DHR International to assist with the process of identifying a new head coach. Niumatalolo is believed to have been recommended to DHR by former Arizona head coach Dick Tomey, who led the program to a 12-1 record and No. 4 national ranking in 1998. Tomey’s teams, which featured the famed “Desert Swarm” defense, produced 20 All-Americans.

I like this Navy coach and hope he considers his options carefully and accepts the Arizona job.

He's taking his time making a large decision and being as transparent as possible about it with his current employer. As far as I can tell, this is being handled exceptionally well by all parties.

If he doesn't take the job, well, no hard feelings - best of luck to him in future endeavors; and onto the next best candidate.

I don't get the drama being stirred up by so many?

I agree with you. From what I've read so far the guy seems very intelligent and has integrity. He appears to be almost the opposite of RR. I would think if he got the job he would bring in a quality staff. He is Mormon so I'm sure that will affect recruiting. No practices on Sunday. I hear he won't run the triple option so won't know what to expect on offense. Still... I think he has a high ceiling. It would be interesting to watch from the sideline how this plays out over time.

I usually stick to just reading message boards, and I read pretty much everything out there concerning UofA sports. Since my two biggest gripes currently are represented here in one nice, tidy quote, I guess I will jump in.

Gilbert, perhaps you have not done much reading, but I have seen in multiple places (Lev, particularly, whom I have no reason whatsoever not to trust) that there is a willingness on the part of KN to be flexible and adapt. Further, one would have to assume given his history and success that he has the requisite experience, intelligence, and common sense to NOT waltz in here and start cramming the triple option down everyone's throats. So, Heeke "is an idiot"? I submit that you have no credible evidence for this statement other than your petulant, knee-jerk reactions, which we have seen waaayyy too much of in this thread alone. I think it is likely that you have no idea whatsoever concerning what has transpired over the last month outside of your purview.

Will you and the rest of the naysayers please wake up and stop with the dogma about the triple option?

As for Eeyore A or B (not sure which), yet another in a ridiculously long line of asinine, utterly vacuous statements. Not really even worthy of further credit nor comment.

Yeah sorry no. Triple option is for weak teams that can't recruit if you think anything else then you need to look at your phones date. It's 2018

This is a complete disaster. If you think any otherwise, your in the minority. This Ad messed up big time. You think the experience of recruiting kids to navy is compatible with AZ recruiting? You want to set your max at 9 wins but most years nada? You want to see next year be a laughing stock?

Greg kept it quiet t, knew what he had to do. This hack is letting everything leak and doing it wrong. Greg might have been a disaster that led to this but in what universe did anyone think Tempe would come out looking good. Tired of hearing how the triple option is so similar to what tate runs. Similar if you ignore it doesn't require a qb

Gilbert is right in respect to triple option. It wont get you embarrassed but it wont get you to the rose bowl either. Not sure if KN could or would employ a different scheme. However, it's Baldwin and he will. Plus hold recruits and get more. Im thinking tmrw the announcement will go down!

Can't you read? Nowhere has anyone said that Ken N will be bringing the triple option in. Everything indicates that he is flexible enough to do something else. All reports are that he doesn't intend to make AZ a triple option team. Do you get that? Do you not believe it or what? Or are you just going to respond again how bad the triple option is?

There ain't any evidence Heeke messed anything up. The time line on firing RR was reasonable. It's clear to me there is/was a plan. Fire RR and get a search firm in place. That's what happened. Anybody who thinks Ken N would run the triple option here is fooling themselves. All the talent that is lost? Really? My best recollection is two guys. Arizona, along with most programs, lose guys between seasons. The only idiots here are the one spouting hyperbolic bullshit.

Omg he is flexible whoot. Lol where is this love coming from. I haven't met anyone that likes this idea. Being a constant bowl team would be nice. But it gets old if that's all you are. Pretty irrelevant IMHO.

It's basically like settling for a 10 or 12 seed in the tournament. Occasionally you might win one or two but will never win it all. How as fans can we be expected to show up if all you are is plain. I get it. He is an upstanding guy.

The closest thing I have heard is that KN will adjust his system to the talent we have here.

I don't know if it's a huge stretch from triple option to read option.

You better be right about Baldwin or you are going to look quite foolish.

Probably for good reason. But the talented will always have talent, while the less talented can only appropriate other's work a few times before getting cut off. So Chief should ignore that and take heart in knowing his talent is in his ability to keep producing.

The rumors of booster hold up are true, but more related to recruiting budgets, timeline for indoor, stadium upgrades etc. Staff is a part of it but not the main part.
