The only thing I've heard is Demetrice Martin has been interviewed and Tim DeRuyter has been offered.

I imagine any hot prospects are involved in bowl games and don't have time to interview and such, besides not wanting to get the word out until after their season ends.

So curious that Tim DeRuyter was offered when is while Cal is still playing, along with Cal having a better program in a pretty cool area to live.

Based on the situation at Arizona, I wouldn’t be surprised by Demetrius Martin being the new coordinator.

Why would Tim DeRuyter leave Cal for this team? This just doesn’t make sense to me.

Position coaches, head coaches, and Coordinators leave their teams before the bowl game all the time. Seems like an excuse to drag the process out to so they can use Arizona to get a raise.

Need to rename this thread “DC Tepid Board”.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Dave Heeke has sabotaged any chance at Arizona hiring a DC worth half a shit. Once that story came out public the only move Heeke could've made was to move on from Sumlin. Now he's trying to show support and stick with the guy. Bumbling fucking idiot.

No decent DC is coming here with Sumlin likely to be fired after next year.

Hit him up for a very large donation as soon as he got drafted and then didn’t make him feel like a valued alumni around the program.

For what it's worth, Burns and Gambo think DB coach Tony White has an equal or better chance to land the DC job. Has long history with Gonzalez. Did mention Pierce's recruiting might give him edge.
Also, said if White is chosen, ASU might risk losing Pierce.

Frustrating. First, we’ve never been a recruiting powerhouse in football that’s a given. You have a guy that bled red & blue until whatever unforeseen events pissed him off, but when defensive coaching positions have been available Antonio doesn’t get a sniff?

I can maybe understand if he’s coaching some shitty school that never produces D1 talent, but Long Beach fucking Poly? I guess swallowing some pride and making things right is too much to ask because a football powerhouse such as Arizona doesn’t need to bend over backwards in order to hire a good HS coach from such a crappy program like LBPoly......

Unbelievable.

I’m guessing someone that carries a bit of weight read my post and we announce at tomorrow’s PC that Antonio is coming home. A complimentary full body scrub and tug at Helga’s heavenly massage will be administered to remove the scum.

Interesting. This seems like a way to get Pierce a raise to keep him happy because he brings in recruits but Herm didn't want to rely on him to be a coordinator.

Yeah, now that I look at it, his resume isn’t actually all that solid. And it doesn’t look like he’s ever really had to recruit above our current level.

Eh, fuck it. Hopefully we’ll have an entirely new coaching staff in the next few years anyway.

Way to go. You took the defensive back coach at UCLA which was the only team in the PAC12 to give up more yards than Arizona and a member of a terrible defensive staff and made him OUR DC. What the F?

Looking at stats only is an incredibly dumb way of judging this hire.

He was of course the head coach at Iowa State from 2009-2015, not Defensive Coordinator. His record as the DC at Pittsburgh was exceptional.

He has experience in major conferences as a DC and HC. Very solid on the fundamentals. His players love him. Great speeches. Good recruiter who knows Southern California.

I thought he was on the retirement train. Our staff is mostly bad recruiters, though I think Rhoads didnt get enough credit for what he did. Our DB's werent very good and Im also not convinced it's not totally scheme as we played 10 yards off on 3rd and 3 a lot. He doesnt really have much recruiting ties in the west, but he's going to be a DC, not major recruiter either. He was in the back scenes more than the forefront at UCLA. He should have been DC over our current one, but he didnt come in as a friend of Chip's either

Scheer seemed to say good things about him.
More commits from state of Arizona than the in state schools got. Per scheer.

Sounds like they kept it very secret until he walked into the presser.

I'm cool with this hire. Rhoads is a solid guy and a player's coach. Getting back to basics is what this team needs and having a former Big 12 HC on the coaching staff can't hurt for credibility with recruiting.

This is better than what I thought we'd get, IMHO. He's still hungry and wants to do well to maybe get another head coaching gig, He's only 52.

He won 3 games or less those final 3 years and you can obviously pinpoint why.

Either way his head coaching experience provides an obvious interim head coach option for when Sumlin inevitably gets shitcanned.

Well, we certainly brought in quantity in the defensive backfield. I like the kids he brought in
