Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

That is a big pick up, this kid is a play maker. Averaging over 100 yds per game over the last two years and 19.6 yards per catch this year and still has two years to play. A lot of fun offensive weapons on this team, I would expect us to be able to land another big name QB in the 2023 class.

Opening Day 2021 WR depth chart
Casteel/Johnson
Cunningham/Curry
Berryhill/Reed

Singer/Jones
Cowing/Greene/Luke
TMac/Wright/Simpson
Huge huge upgrades, and Berryhill was great.

Very impressive!
I was wondering what happened to Cunningham. Didn't realize he was better than I thought he was.

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
Based on 247's 2022 commit page we also added LB Anthony Solomon from Michigan. Or did I miss this earlier? He was rated a 91 out of HS.
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
Thought he was a hot commodity after the bowl game. Wasn’t really that familiar with him
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
Hope Solomon doesn't think we still employ Don Brown. Maybe that was how Fisch reeled him in? From what I have read on Solomon it seems like he just got buried behind other talent at Michigan.
Hopefully we finish out our transfer allotment with a QB and a couple of OLineman.

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
He was a four-star prospect in the class of 2019 and committed to Michigan over other schools like Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan State, Ohio State and much more.CopaCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 6:54 pm Hope Solomon doesn't think we still employ Don Brown. Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
He was basically relegated to Special Teams at Michigan. Never got much chance to prove anything so I hope maybe Michigan screwed up. Or more than likely he was a classic case of overrated out of HS. We did need a few LB's though so I would consider today a success. Now a quality QB and 2 OL and maybe we can compete next year.Sid wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 7:18 pmHe was a four-star prospect in the class of 2019 and committed to Michigan over other schools like Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan State, Ohio State and much more.CopaCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 6:54 pm Hope Solomon doesn't think we still employ Don Brown. Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
I am not sold on guys who couldn't find roles at big programs automatically coming in and starting for us here, but I guess at least they have that base talent that hopefully our coaches find a way to bring out. We really need OL help and we only have 3 spots for transfers left based on the 7 number Fisch threw out there. Additonally, I think if we want any chance of a big turnaround next year we need a upperclassman QB to come in. McCloud and Plummer are not going to get it done and I am not sold on Fifita coming in and being power 5 ready from day one.
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
No clue if he has any position flexibility but we were so decimated at LB and our safety play was horrid.
We do need a few lineman but good ones are in such demand. Not sure we are in on anyone of great value at this time.
I also would think we would prefer those transfers be here for the spring so that may also narrow our choices. Still, this roster is much more talented right now with the influx of new recruits

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
I think the sample size we all saw with McCloud was quite small. I was at the Ucla game and liked what McCloud was doing up until that horrific leg injury. I believe we win that game had he stayed healthy! I have no idea if he will be ready to complete at this level coming off a leg injury of that magnitude? Plummer, well I think we can all agree he improved over the course of the year. The “X” factor on Plummer to me is the fact that the kid is a warrior. That Cal Covid-19 team beat the shit out of him, but he played through the hits & pain unlike Grant that took himself out of the game with a shoulder bruise. The new weapons mixed in with what we already have, which I like…..will make whomever is slinging the rock a better QB. I agree we need to add OL help and I’m optimistic that Jedd gets that done.gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 9:46 am I am not sold on guys who couldn't find roles at big programs automatically coming in and starting for us here, but I guess at least they have that base talent that hopefully our coaches find a way to bring out. I am not sold on our QB position either. I like Fifita, but really don't want to throw him out there as a True Frosh with our current line situation. It would scream Anu 2.0.Sid wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 10:10 amI think the sample size we all saw with McCloud was quite small. We do have some younger guys coming in on the line, but none of them were high end recruits, so I am not sure what to expect from them talentwise? Our Red Zone woes from last year are largly due to atrocious line play along with bad QB play. Major upgrades will be needed in both spots in order to gain any semblance of respectability in year 2 of Fisch. All the skill guys in the world won't work without good Lineman.
Plummer is a 3rd stringer at best and McCloud could work as a 2nd stringer(same with Cruz). We really don't have a true number 1 QB at this time for the 2022 season.
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
AZ has been pursuing OL's but has had no success thus far. Looking at talent in the transfer portal the vast majority of the high quality lineman have committed to name schools. We just recently lost out on a JC lineman to Illinois.azcat49 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 10:07 am No clue if he has any position flexibility but we were so decimated at LB and our safety play was horrid.

Looking here it shows 12 Cats have entered the portal but only one has found a new home.

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
Can someone provide an update on the number of scholarships that Arizona still has available? I keep hearing that we would only sign seven players from the transfer portal. Is that the max allowed by the NCAA from the portal or is our roster almost set?

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
You have to include the seniors who were granted an extra year of eligibility but will not count against the scholarship limit.

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
My understanding is we have 23 scholarships for recruits, we have signed 21, plus 7 for transfers, we have announced 4. We have one more recruit announcing this weekend so that leaves us 1 more scholarship for recruits and 3 for transfers. I believe if we do not use the 1 scholarship on recruits it can be used for a transfer as well, but I am not sure on that.CatFan1399 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 9:51 pm Can someone provide an update on the number of scholarships that Arizona still has available? Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
The UCLA safety transfer will count against our 23 allotment(Fisch said that on signing day). Luke should fill out that class.
We have three transfers so far and we should add a few more if they can help us

Singer is getting a schollie. Does it count towards this year or the year he started?
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
I think they have to a lot it to the current class or the next class. They can’t go back in time even if they had room.
I am unsure if they can use one of the NCAA allotted 7 scholarships this year. They always seem to find a way to get it done though

Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
Not sure if it's changed or not, but during the RichRod era, if you give a walk on a scholie, if they are an underclassmen it goes against the count of his entering class. If the walk on is a junior or senior, it goes against the current year.
Which really pissed RichRod off since he could not reward underclassmen.

This guy is a 4 star running back who has run a 10.5 second 100m
We haven't had that kind of speed in the backfield in a very, very, long time.
Re: 2022 Recruit/Commitment Thread
The icing on the cake with Speedy committing tomorrow on national TV. This class is as good as we have ever had on paper. Luke will play a lot next year as he is very dynamic

Echols? I am not to impressed with him if that is the case and I would be surprised if there were a lot of suiters for him but I guess Nansen is familiar with him. Hopefully the other is that Safety from Northwestern.

And Luke just caught a TD pass and looked “speedy” doing it. They said no one has ever run the 100 faster than him in California out of High School
