Akina will be Arizona's Defensive Coordinator this year his second year back with the Wildcats. Entering his 45th year of coaching Akina is still a force of nature who not only knows how to scheme and develop players, but how to motivate a team to get the most out of their ability. I personally give him a lot of credit not only for the improvement of the DBs last year, but the improvement and passion on the entire defense. If the new pieces of the defensive line work out, this season's defense should be at least as good as last years.
Arizona had 398 rushing attempts last year for a 4.6 ypc and 139.7 yards per game. SJSU ran the ball 429 times last season for 5.6 ypc and 184.1 yards per game.
