Would reiterate what I have posted before that, if that ends up being true, I don’t believe DRF ever had the money to can Brennan.

I can see her quietly trying to raise it, but if she is going to spend that capital — even quietly — in the Arizona world, she has to act on it (and I wouldn’t have committed to a dime unless she shook my hand and told me once she had the money she would fire Brennan shortly thereafter).
I don’t understand the “quietly” and behind the scenes stuff. If CBB sucks (he does) it falls on DRF. Just be public about it and let the fans know we don’t have the money to move on. CBB is gonna sink the whole damn ship himself.

Brennan should feel ashamed and be shamed for playing the “gee shucks” nice guy role while stealing millions.

Is CBB on that list? He’s a proven loser. Which means you must not like him if you don’t like the other people on that list.

I certainly have questions about the state of UofA football but I'd have to say firing Brennan after one year won't do us any good. I still have questions. Does anyone know if the idea of hiring legacy coaches such Dino Babers was his idea or was he nudged into it. If Brent wants to save his job I would think Dino has to go. Duane Akina might have to go as well but I'll leave that up for discussion. By the way I'm not a big fan of Bobby Waters coaching ability either. Brennan certainly needs a more dynamic message for recruiting. I know Brennan wants to be here but now he has to show the fans he deserves to be here.

The better team won........period.

Coaching had NOTHING to do with this loss. The other team had better talent, especially on both lines.

Brennan inherited a team gutted by the departure of Fisch. If you want to blame someone, blame Jedd.

I doubt Brennan is going anywhere. The #1 thing the program needs is a large infusion of $NIL$.
I guess you didn't notice the usual 3 or 4 out 1 in offensive passing strategy that Brennan and his OC's apparently just love using. I saw so many plays where Fifita had time to throw but the only play was a 15 yard 4 to 5 second out route that he barely has the arm strength to throw. Then underneath you always had a RB, but that was it. Everyone else is 8 to 10 yards minimum depth down field. WTF kind of coaching strategy is that for an offense? The D knows exactly what and where they need to defend. Our offensive strategy is a night and day difference from last year, but yet this is a talent issue in your opinion?

Let's not start on D and the complete lack of effort yesterday. I think there was a point where the D just gave up and said screw getting off this block. I say that because there were so many plays where we had proper positioning on the runs but it looked like the effort wasn't there to make the play. Couple that with several Defensive breakdowns and again I don't know how you can say this is a pure talent issue. You are completely out of your goddamn mind if I may say so.

I caught some of the Iowa State game last night. Their QB called some nice audibles to cross up defensive shifts, which the audio picked up. I recall Fifita, even as a freshman under Fisch, doing some of that last year. This year, it looks more like, "Okay, high school quarterback, go in there and just run the (bad) play we called." And you know the Tomey-esque philosophy would never favor trust, especially after already overruling a called play as too risky. Just another example of a devolved coaching approach. I never saw Weber coach, but I've seen every one since that, and I don't recall more inept Xs and Os and technique by anybody, including Mackovic and Sumlin. But at least Brennan's mild-mannered while chewing his gum. I don't appreciate his white-flag waving shrugging acceptance of a 4-win season with what he inherited from a 10-win team as some inevitable "start from scratch" in a build-from-nothing process. It is a damning condemnation that the majority of intelligent observers think he needs to cashier a significant portion of the coaches that he just hired: both coordinators, special teams, and S&C. That's the whole program. But, he's about "family", relationships, loyalty, etc., so he'll minimize that to maybe one or two sacrificial lambs to save his own ass. The already-gone Babers and somebody else, who just "chose to pursue other opportunities." You need to cut your losses and cut off a problem as early as possible. But, if we're on poverty row, so be it, and we'll see half-empty "Your Sponsor's Name Here" Stadium watching him build his mid-major caliber team to accrue a series of bloody noses. Until we start from scratch again.

To add on to this, Scheer just implied that DRF wont make any kind of statement.

Next year is going to be so fucking painful to watch.

So let’s assume CBB is retained. What coaches are gone. I would only retain Adkins (as TE coach only) and Carter on offense. Not sure on Oglesby.

On Defense I can live with another year of Akina but we need some really good recruiters on that side of the ball. Old Joe has to go and Gonzales was a bust as LB coach. Viney could be a guy you retain if he is recruiting well.

We also need a QB coach. No matter what this staff needs to be gutted. That doesn’t sound like a thing CBB can do.

1. New OC and Babers gone....yesterday
2. QB coach
3. DL coach gone
4. ST coach
5. New S&C coach.

No coaches should be hired or retained unless they are ready to recruit, recruit, recruit.

All this at a minimum.

Never been there, but Poland looks pretty interesting (if a little cold in the winter.) Centrally located to a lot of other European locales. Sounds like an exciting adventure.

Transfer portal is Monday, Dec. 9, 2024 through Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024.

Won't get any impact players, but Brennan should shoot for bench players on loaded teams who were 4 star players out of high school. Would the 3rd string left guard who only gets special teams minutes for Alabama prefer to start at Arizona? I dunno.

I’m not a fan of plugging holes and doing patchwork to save a doomed experiment. The problem in part lies with Brennan, but the real blame starts with Dave Heeke for not looking out for the best interests of the program. The fact that we could have lost Noah and crew is immaterial. If it comes to it, you blow up the team and wait patiently to hire the right coach. With a smart hire, the program would have been on solid footing in two years. Cardinal sin number one: you never get married staring down the barrel of a shotgun. What Heeke did was a revenge ploy, a final death blow to a program and administration that he felt deserted him.

When you look at Brennan, it’s always important to remember Occam’s Razor. Consider the fact that RichRod went to three bowls (two with West Virginia, one with us) coached Michigan and is doing a great job at Jacksonville St., and still can’t get a job at a Power 4. This is from a coach who has a proven track record of success. Who went 7-5 when we fired him. He’s leaps and bounds past what Brennan can bring to the table.

Some fans point to the fact that you send the wrong message to new coaches who might come in. They might feel that their job security might be in jeopardy. LSU had no problem doing this. Bryan Harsin (former Boise St. coach), was fired after about a year and a half at LSU, and his record was better than Brennan’s. They had no problem attracting candidates after he was let go. Incompetence and mismanagement are easy to explain to new candidates when you’re trying to right the ship. Eafon and others know Babers and Brennan personally, and so they have some personal equity into seeing them succeed. In fact, Eafon recommended Babers as head coach when Fisch left. So you have to take what they have to say with a grain of salt.

DRF has to acknowledge that what happened was a blip, an anomaly. And the fact that Brennan took the job for selfish reasons is a big factor into why things didn’t work out for him. Anybody with two brain cells could see that Brennan was what old school boxing trainers called a ‘tomato can.’ It was the only job offer he was ever going to get. I challenge anybody, anywhere to prove me wrong. His rudderless leadership and emotionless detachment is a big reason why he has lost the locker room and will continue lose future locker rooms. The only thing he has going for him is that he is very skilled at running game, to use an urban expression. It’s why he was able to kick the can at SJSU for so long. But talented, smart players will not put with it, neither will smart fans. If DRF allows Brennan to fester, and that is an entirely appropriate word for him, it will be one of the greatest regrets of her tenure here.

Purdue just fired their coach after going 1-11 in his second year. I can certainly see CBB coaching us to a similar record next year. So our next coach will take over a program in about the same condition as Fisch did

This is my attitude about waaaay more than Arizona sports in today's world. In many respects the drawbridge is going up and it's all gonna be about what the fuck I and mine want. In time I'll inure to the callowness of it. I know I have the requisite pettiness if only I make a mission of it. Fuuuuuck

I stopped following football when pimp cane sumlin was hired and I finally got excited again toward the end of 2022 season.

See you guys again in 5 years. we might have a competent coach if we even have a football program

The Arizona Football program will then proceed to be as cold as the bleacher seats that will remain affixed to Raytheon Stadium at Eegees Field as we battle for leftover slop 10 years down the road in the Pacific Big Sloppy 2nds Championship Series.

You Can't Touch This will be the name of Brent Brennan's 2025 hot seat.

Scheer did a podcast about what went down. To sum it up:

Boosters started talking about canning Brennan around the Houston game. Checks were written.

For whatever reason it didn't pan out. Scheer suspects money was there to can Brennan, but not hire a new coach as well. Money will go towards new assistants.

After that Scheer goes off on the shitty way DRF handled this. (Worth the listen if you don't like DRF, she comes off very badly.) Says DRF should be done at Arizona if Brennan has an absolutely awful season next year, but the president may not give enough of a fuck. Also thinks Brennan has one year to turn this around or he's done.

Scheer's wife tells a story of how Adia personally called boosters that gave just $500, and how DRF and Brennan never call any boosters to thank them for the much larger money they give for football.

Scheer says about a dozen players will be run off, and there's a legit chance we could bring in 40 new players overall next year.

Take all that how you will. Next year should be quite interesting.

Scheer says about a dozen players will be run off, and there's a legit chance we could bring in 40 new players overall next year.

Take all that how you will. Next year should be quite interesting.

Sounds like Brent will continue to be an A+ recruiter with that kind of hard work and reciprocity. You can see how he emulates the Fisch philosophy to the T.

My guess is Brent also doubles as DRF makeup artist(a role he cross trained on to keep his job), which would be why his excellent recruiting skills aren't quite shining through as of yet. When Brent can show up to a recruits house and do a full on Mommy Makeover is when we will be bagging more recruits than Ala fucking Bama.

Two of teh three are the coordinators. Babers was on a one year contract and teh rumor is Akina is retiring.

My guess is the 3rd might be Danny Gonzales just because he is the other big name who probably wants off the ship anyway(unless he slides into DC?). Then it will come down to who Brennan really needs to can.

Who should be fired and was never qualified for the job:
Dino, QB Coach, Wade, OL Coach, DL Coach, Danny G., and I know I am alone in this Akina is better suited to be a DB coach.

Who will likely be fired:
Dino, Akina, Danny G.

Babers didn't coach a position. As far as I can tell we didn't have a dedicated QB coach which is a problem.

Because we don't have money because people don't show up to the games

That and we don't have a Phil Knight or a $Rich$ alumni base willing to cough up $$$ to the athletic dept.
