So we think we have reeled in McKenzie? Thought he wanted to take visits though?

mckenzie would be fantastic...a top 5 d tackle in the nation recruit? top 100 recruit overall? that would be amazing for us down the road in like 2016-2018 on the line.

I believe he would be the top recruit we've ever had. He should be a 5 star. He is Rasheem Green status.

azcat49, can you tell us a little about the S&C comment from the other board.

Is the thing that you're hearing potentially rise to the level of being a crime or is it something bad but in a different direction?

I like this new board a lot but as U of A recruiting fanatics, we already have such a small online presence and I really hate that now it's fractured even further :( If there's one good thing I could ever think about assu it's that they all post on one site. Now we have to check 247, scout, rivals, and here...ugh

I know the consensus is that McKenzie is headed to UT, but this has that Tabor feel to it.

I was going to say the same thing. HOWEVER, if I remember correctly, wasn't Tabor's announcement pretty much a surprise to his mom? So I can see her putting huge pressure on him from the day he announced to signing day.

This feels a bit different because, well for one he's making his decision very public. Every time he cuts it down, he announces it on Twitter. With Tabor, he felt more like a ninja, throwing up smoke screens.

I don't know how it could've been much of a surprise to his mother when days before he announced he publicly narrowed it down to Arizona & Alabama and they only bought an Arizona hat for the day he announced it on live television.

Re: 2015 recruits/commitment thread

Post by Folesfor10K »

Now that I have a better grasp of what the in state recruiting class looks like I put together a completely subjective opinion of the top recruits from Arizona from the last two years. I think this year's class is about normal(maybe a little less star power)as far as depth goes but this comparison shows how truly amazing last year's Arizona class really was. I put more emphasis on OL/DL/LB/S/DB over RB/WR/TE/QB

State ranking given by me/Name/Star ranking given by me

2015
1) Keenan Walker 4/5
2) Cassius Peat 4/5
3) Christian Kirk 4/5
4) Brian Lewerke 4
5) Paul Lucas 4
6) Dedrick Young 3/4
7) Cade Cote 3/4
8) Caleb Peart 3
9) Steven Miller 3
10) Bryce Perkins 3

2014
1) Casey Tucker 5
2) Qualen Cunningham 4/5
3) Kyle Allen 4/5
4) Jalen Brown 4/5
5) Cameron Denson 4/5
6) Mark Andrews 4/5
7) Trevor Wood 4/5
8) Tee Whiley 4/5
9) Natrell Curtis 4
10) Ismael Murphy Richardson 4
11) Layth Freikh 3/4
12) Andrew Mike 3/4
13) Austin Hall 3
14) Quinn Bailey 3
15) Luke Rubenzer 3

Basically last year had a little less than double the 3.5 star or better talent. Glad we did well with AZ last year and stopped the bleeding and hoping we can continue to build off the momentum of Keenan Walker. Kirk and Peat aren't giving us a look and not really sure about Lucas, but would love to snag Young, Cote and Peart. Hopefully at least get in the picture with Lucas.

Very true!
Good point.....
But as mentioned, Florida was not even on the table.
I blieve it was the insecurity of the coaching situtation at Florida that steered him away fro, there initially. It he had choosen Alabama this would not have happened! Arizona was not good enough for mama, and perhaps too far away?

Sheriron jones to Florida. Another QB off the board.

That's a question that can't be answered at the moment. We could go balls to the wall and try to get Waller on campus, but that's a long shot. I really really like Waller as most of you know. Dalton Sneed is a kid that may get a look

Why is RR having such a hard time getting a top QB recruit? Well, maybe Anu turns everything on and everything will be good but I don't like not having a future backup plan. If we can keep Shea Patterson that would probably all change, but 2016 class is really far away.

I didn't want to believe Chief when he warned about the RB situation but can't avoid it now. It helps to hear him talk about all the ways we'll use Davonte though (in the other thread).
