I obviously wish it were ANY other PAC12 team sitting at #6, but I'm very happy to see the new system is giving the PAC a fair shake, regardless of the brand or hype. Also SOS seems to matter, which I had been very skeptical of. The Cats are ranked above a Georgia team with an identical record, above ND, and above a one-loss division-leading Nebraska. That would be unthinkable in the old system.

This. This weeks ranking is really, really well done. I don't think there is much, if anything, I disagree with.

Does Oregon move to #1? Or does Alabama leap up all the way from #5 to #1?

May depend on what FSU does.

So Northwestern beating Notre Dame should hurt asu, not an impressive win at all.

If fsu beats Miami then I think it's 1.fsu 2.Oregon 3.Alabama 4. Tcu

I think it will be:

1) Alabama
2) Oregon
3) FSU
4/5) either MSU or Ohio State

I think TCU drops with that poor performance at KU.

Any chance we jump over ASU?

We still have the best win @Oregon. Both lost to UCLA (they got destroyed), their other loss (OSU) is worse than ours (U$C).

There is no way they are ranked ahead of us. The committee loves our win @ Oregon and ASU now has a very, very bad loss on their resume. ASU will drop big time.

We dropped a spot! Wtf! Apparently a ND win and getting rolled by ucla and Oregon state is better then beating Oregon on the road and losing to UCLA and usc

I think it means that the committee watches games and by doing so had every right to knock us down as we did not play well at all on Saturday. We still won but style points obviously matter.

the committee is also downplaying our Oregon win due to Oregon being "injured" when playing us.

So our win, really doesn't count for as much as it otherwise would.

Yes, but top-25 or not, ND is God's team and ASSU is Satan's, so that makes that win all the more impressive.

I think the guy makes some good points. We need one more win against a good team to be considered a legit top 10 or 15 team. A win, of any kind, this Saturday will do it.

I agree, but playing the "what if" game gets silly fast. VTech lost those close games and Arizona won. Trying to guess what if the opposite were true is an exercise in futility.

I also agree that if we want to finish strong and be 'legit' in the eyes of the nation we'll have to preferably beat both Tah and the Scum, or at minimum beat one of them and lose close to the other. But that writer is an idiot. I've been following VT pretty damn closely for over a decade now and they fucking suck.

That article is absurd!

Comparing a 5-5 Virginia Tech team in the ACC to Arizona?

VTech would lose by 40 at Oregon.

The article pissed me off too. I think I took a look at the two teams' real time rpis with Arizona at 16 and VTech at like 48. That's basically the same, right?

The best part was the guy said "besides the Oregon win". Last I checked that should probably carry a little weight.

Not that it matters but who would you rank higher?

The team that lost at home and gave up 62 or the team that went on the road and lost by 10

The team who won a hail Mary or the team that lost on a chip shot missed FG

The team that went on the toad and beat #2 and #20 or the team that beat #20 in OT at home

VT hahaha, they suck so bad. Anybody who has watched them for 5 min other than in the Ohio State game could tell you that. So fuck Ohio State too.

Arizona easily had the best win yesterday, going on the road to a ranked Utah and destroying them. UCLA was impressive too but they were at home and there's only so much they can move up being right behind all the one-loss teams. AZ better fucking be ahead of ASU and a couple others after this win. We should really be right behind UCLA honestly. Our resume is better than GA's and Michigan State IMO.

As Pokinmik said, we had the best win yesterday. On the road, in the cold and at altitude, losing our starting QB for a half, we still won in all three phases of the game within the toughest division in college football. If the committee ranks they way they have been, they should jump the Cats over some of those teams that were ahead of us last week.

Alright, it'll be interesting to see what they do, I can see your logic but I'd still be surprised if we end up that high. After all, we're no SEC team
(hell we're currently ranked behind a 3 loss auburn team for fcks sake)

I've been watching the Cats since the 2006 season after transferring from a college in upstate NY (irrevelant to my question). Anyway, does anyone know the last time they were ranked for as many consecutive weeks as they have been this season? I can't remember there being a time since I've been following them.

when do the rankings come out (what time of day I mean)?

Also, why isn't Bryne doing some politicking about how we had injury issues during losses, etc? Or is he waiting to see what happens this weekend first?
