Re: 2014 Bowl Projections
There are already 9 bowl eligible Pac 12 teams with 7 bowl slots. 2 teams like osu or uw will be shipped to random non Pac 12 bowls
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

OSU is not bowl eligible unless they beat Oregon today. Cal can get there by beating BYU.
Re: 2014 Bowl Projections
Weird the site I looked at showed osu being 6-5.

Re: 2014 Bowl Projections
Update to PAC-12 standings assuming Oregon holds its 30 point lead on OSU:
Current overall standings:
Oregon 8-1 (11-1) Rose/Sugar (or CFP Bowl with loss to Arizona)
Arizona 7-2 (10-2) CFP Bowl (chance at Rose/Sugar with win over Oregon)
UCLA 6-3 (9-3) Alamo (or Holiday, Foster Farms, Sun, Las Vegas, Cactus)
ASU 6-3 (9-3) Holiday ( or Alamo, Foster Farms, Sun, Las Vegas, Cactus)
USC 6-3 (8-4) Foster Farms (or Alamo, Holiday, Sun, Las Vegas, Cactus)
Utah 5-4 (8-4) Sun (or Alamo, Holiday, Foster Farms, Las Vegas, Cactus)
Stanford 5-4 (7-5) Las Vegas (or Alamo, Holiday, Foster Farms, Sun, Cactus)
UW 3-5 (7-5) Cactus (if they get to 4-5 vs. Wazzu tonight Las Vegas could pick them)
This assumes the bowls are still choosing under the old rules (can pick any team within one game in the conference standings.)
5 teams bunched at 6-3/5-4.
ASU went to the Holiday Bowl last year, so maybe they take U$C instead, dropping ASSU to Foster Farms? Vegas is a short drive for Utah fans, although most don't drink or gamble, might be better than Sun.

Re: 2014 Bowl Projections
How does selection for the semi location go? Is it preselected which game gets 1/4 and 2/3, or do they figure out the pairings and then choose where to send the teams? It would make sense to keep a Pac12 team in the Rose, just curious how that works.

I thought I read somewhere that the Rose is getting #2 vs. #3 this year.prh wrote:How does selection for the semi location go? Would kind of suck if we ended up #4, although the Sugar Bowl would be a nice consolation prize.

If that's the case with the Rose, I'd hope they slot us #3 just for the sake of getting us to the Rose. Can you imagine the draw we'd be? First time ever going?UAEebs86 wrote:I thought I read somewhere that the Rose is getting #2 vs. #3 this year.prh wrote:How does selection for the semi location go? Forget travelling well, we'd take that bowl and city over.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:
Re: 2014 Bowl Projections
Well then we just need Alabama to lose so we can slide to #3 w/ a win

I should have googled a little harder. Directly from the CFP:UAEebs86 wrote:I thought I read somewhere that the Rose is getting #2 vs. #3 this year.

B. When assigning teams to sites, the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.

Yeah I saw you caught it. Sponsors change so fast but at least the San Frans bowl reward wont be serving food to homeless like the kraft fight hunger made them do. 'Cats vs. TOSU in the Cotton Bowl.
Fiesta would be huge for fans, but playing Boise State is a lose-lose situation.
Win and it is a W against a program that's been down recently (and even further from ESPN's spotlight than UA) and snuck in due to contractual obligations.
Lose, and well....

Would love to have revenge for that 1991 beat down in Columbus which was my first visit to the Horseshoe.

Re: 2014 Bowl Projections
Just wanted to mention that whether the 'Cats lose, or win and sneak in/get left out of the 4 team playoff, we are SO much better off with this team/season under the new system.
Under the old BCS system, which was a mix of the AP & Coaches Polls, and computer polls, I bet we wouldn't have even sniffed a BCS bowl.
We have been consistently ranked lower by the voters than the CFP committee, and I took a peak at Sagarin, and his computer
poll has us at #23. (A composite of 3 computer rankings: #15 ,#27, #29). Our close wins kill us in most computer polls.
ASU went 10-2 in the PAC-12 last year and didn't make a BCS bowl (by one spot in the rankings meaning they weren't eligible).
The committee seems to be saying just win baby! The addition of two extra CFP bowls helps too.
It's a great time to be a Wildcat!

Yes, as the lowest ranked 2-loss team (except Boise St) behind Kansas State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Missouri, Georgia Tech, and Mississippi State.
Because he hates RichRod.
Dude just needs to let it go already and do his fucking job. No one cares that his feelings were hurt or whatever.

Who has better wins than Arizona?
Let's compare the losses of the 2 loss teams.
Aren't you just letting your personal bias get in the way of your football analysis?
Look at the job Rich Rodriguez has done at Arizona. Why shouldn't he be coach of the year?

Re: 2014 Bowl Projections
Here are my projections:
Oregon 8-1 (11-1) CFP
Arizona 7-2 (10-2) CFP Bowl/National Title
UCLA 6-3 (9-3) Alamo (the bowl seems to like them)
USC 6-3 (8-4) Holiday Bowl (Havent been?)
ASU 6-3 (9-3) Sun Bowl (Havent been in a while)
Utah 5-4 (8-4) Foster Farms Bowl (Havent been?)
Stanford 5-4 (7-5) Las Vegas (Havent been?)
UW Ticket City Cactus Bowl (Havent been and didnt visit during regular season plus a big draw in the valley)
I feel that bowls will want some new blood and switch around to prevent teams that have been there within the last few years. It would be a real shame if an AZ loss sends them to the Alamo bowl. I project a national title but if AZ ends up in the Fiesta against Boise, well then that would be a blast. Hopefully, location plays a roll in landing the Fiesta over the Cotton because I am lazy and only want to drive a little bit.

This dude seems to think a blowout would send us to the Bay bowl. I cant see that since the fans are going Friday and man, that would be a slap in the face. Would wonder the motivation level of the team in that case.

Well if we drop out of the Top 10 Fiesta can't take us.
The question is would 3 losses, one to a Top 2 team we already beat once, knock us that low?
SF picks before Sun now BTW.

Of the non-playoff CFP bowls, Fiesta would absolutely be the best. Planting our UofA tailgate gear on the UoP great lawn would be outstanding (assuming they allow tailgating for the Fiesta Bowl...). Cotton Bowl is meh but I would go. Worst scenario of that group would be the Peach Bowl.Gilbertcat wrote:I would also travel for the Cotton bowl but I hate early drinking. Fiesta feels just right. At the point the FF SF Bowl picks, Oregon and Arizona are gone to the playoffs, CFP Bowls, or Alamo/Holiday and they have dropped down to the 6-3 teams so FF can take Stanford at 5-4.Gilbertcat wrote:If Arizona loses and is not picked for a Playoff Group Bowl, everything would be up in the air, and the South Division champion Wildcats could conceivably fall to us. Wrong - Still a great option, but we didn't help ourselves last night. We needed upsets to go with a win last night, but NOW we need No upsets to get us into the Fiesta Bowl. The Fiesta hasn't done well in ticket sales the past few years and would take Arizona over most others just to fill the stadium alone. We need to be in the top 10-12 for this to happen.ASUHATER! wrote:Absolutely. Fiesta bowl is no longer an option. Probably got dropped to the Alamo or even the holiday.
