You want to kill any chance of increased ticket sales hire this Ken alphabet guy.

Never even heard of him before yesterday.

1) Is this possibly a Hail Mary leak to get more money for Sumlin or have Sumlin reduce his ask. Even if Sumlin is out go get Baldwin
2) If this is real can we pull a Tennessee?

I actually had the a similar though, AD leaks these less than desirable candidates since Heeke can't afford Sumlin or Miles, so Baldwin doesn't seem so bad after all.

Hey at least with Niumatalolo our games will end quicker! with all the 8 pm kicks we're going to be getting on the Pac12 network they should be over by 11 instead of midnight!

This jabroni has tried to sell every single candidate that has been mentioned like they're God's gift to Earth. Even ones that haven't been mentioned. It's time for him to hang it up. Navy isn't so much about recruiting as it is a desire to be in the Armed Forces.

Source tells FootballScoop Arizona (and search firm DHR) are negotiating a potential deal with Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo to become new head coach at Arizona.

Source tells FootballScoop former Arizona head coach Dick Tomey initially suggested Kenny; and DHR listened; but also had a number of other candidates they wanted Arizona to vet as well.

This morning, one source told FootballScoop “Unless they mess this up, Kenny is going to Arizona.” However, before you assume the ink should be dry soon; remember that Niumatalolo and BYU went for a long walk down this path two years ago only to see Niumatalolo ultimately decide that move wasn’t in the best interest of his family and career. Further, this wouldn’t be the first time a DHR search (this year & others) has changed course after being deep in negotiations with a candidate.

In 10 seasons as head coach at Navy Niumatalolo is 84-48, twice winning conference coach of the year.

Should Kenny wind up getting the position; most in the profession believe offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper would be a very strong candidate to take his place as head coach at Navy.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest in coaching job information.

I hope they're wrong. Also, how do we go about sending complaints to the AD?

Exactly, for the most part the academies recruit themselves.

Old timers like me will remember Roger Staubach, great Navy QB who actually served out his military commitment, including a tour in Viet Nam, before embarking on a very successful NFL career.

I’m just waiting to see how this goes. I think Ken is a really good Head Coach. I don’t mind trying that route for once. Overall, to be a successful hire (like all others) I need to know the recruiting coordinator, the OC, and the DC.

For one, I really doubt Jasper comes to Arizona as OC with his kid waiting on a heart.

Good point. The only other one that might scare Sumlin into taking less, would be Les.

Do we have the players to incorporate Niumatalolo's offense in the next 3 years? What is he going to do with the dozen or so 5'8" receivers on the roster?

Was disappointed to have missed attending an Arizona football game this past season for the first time since 2006.

Now I don't even care about missing next year.

So much for an "attendance hire."

if we start somehow winning 9 games a year with a triple option then so be it. but i laugh heartily at that idea. and to think with my increase in income later this year I would've consider buying more tickets. not now. need a couple years of proof.

You may just be an Army (Navy?) of One my friend. Oh wait, I forgot about Hansen who really wants us to go back to being in the Border Conference.

Personally, I see this as an abject failure. Unless we are transferring to the Mountain West.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

First thread instead of welcome coach X should be FireHeeke and never speak of this coach and his option again. So instead of recruiting up, we now only need mountain west guys. Fantastic news. Will never be disappointed in rankings again. I assume it wont even been in national news headlines.

This is ridiculous, why pay a coach $6M to not coach just to pay his less accomplished doppleganger to run a similar gimmicky offense. I never thought I would be jealous of the Herm Edwards hire, but now I am. I am sure my wife will be happy that my Saturdays in the fall no longer revolve around Arizona football.
