I thought sumlin was a super recruiter. Honestly, Arizona football is about as irrelevant to me as what the CEO of a trillion dollar company ate for breakfast today. No one cares and it hurts to think about.

Very good example along with RichRod why you don't hire fired coaches. They get a nice buyout from their former schools and they realize that it's a lot easier to not work that hard and still get paid.

What evidence do you have that Sumlin is not trying to win besides how you think he looks on the sidelines and bullshit rumors about maybe having a drinking problem?

Besides our horrific recruiting and the equally shitty play on the field, you make a great point Machina.

Also the drinking rumors have persisted as long as he's been a coach.

RichRod was a lush too, that's why he hired his drinking buddy Canales

Sumlin's drinking goes way before Arizona.

You can convict in a court of law on just circumstantial evidence.

There is no evidence at all that he is not trying to win. None. Not getting results is not the same as not trying. I dont think people realize how hard it is to recruit for football at Arizona

"Not trying to win" and "Not giving a fuck one way or the other" look an awful lot alike in the results column.

Funny how everyone complains about Rich Rod and Stoops being too fired up on the sideline and now er are complaining and making bullshit up about Sumlin not being fired up enough

You are the one who brought sideline demeanor into this conversation. We were talking about recruiting, but please don’t let that stop you.

Hey I’m m sure Sumlin wants to win. I’m not so sure he wants to work hard In his off hours though.... which seem very high compared to other head coaches

Ha was 11-2 in 2019 and finished 20th, all because he wanted to run the 'tripple' option. And Tate still goes undrafted.

If Sumlin is trying his absolute best to recruit and win, then he should be fired for total incompetence.

There is are so many disadvantages Arizona has when it comes to recruiting, don't think we all realize that with how Arizona Basketball has recruited. But I agree his performance has not been good and he should be fired if he does not perform at a high level this year.

The big challenge with large gatherings is bringing together people who have a different understanding of what is safe behavior and what is risky behavior. Also a different understanding of the rules. I mean, people can't figure out how to wear a mask and stay 6 ft away. Mix alchohol into that and you are gonna get disagreements and that may even come to blows. I wouldn't put myself and much less my kids in that kind of environment. We are barely getting together with super close friends who we know have been in quarentine since the beginning. I MIGHT make it to a restaurant that is super clean and super respectful of this situation some time this month. There is no way i am going to hang with 30k people who have been drinking all day and are screaming or high fiving.

Just my two cents....

I would not expect tailgating at this time but that could change.

There is also no chance UA will get 30k this year. Would have barely got that with our pathetic fanbase this year before COVID19. But 18k maybe.

You realize having get together with close friends and going to a grocery store is not much different than going to a game under the rules I mentioned right?

You honestly think there will be fights because someone wont high five or is seated too close? If so just freaking move. Every group will have more than enough room

The only two coaches that are below Sumlin in the Pac-12 are new Washington coach Jimmy Lake, who comes in at 56, and new Colorado coach Karl Dorrell, who comes in at 64. Utah's Kyle Whittingham is ranked as the best coach in the conference at 11.

2nd worse facilities in the PAC

That honestly doesn't make sense since our facilities are some of the newer ones in the league. From what I've seen of them they're pretty top of the line.

The article that Zealots references is a pretty shitty article. It has a short description of each school's facilities, and is basically a recap of how much was spent on recent renovations.

It may be accurate, but there is literally no evidence provided in the source article to support any kind of rankings.

Eh. Our football operations stuff is relatively standard for P5. The IPF is much needed, but again, fairly standard for P5.

Balanced against that, they include the stadium and Arizona Stadium is obviously one of the less renovated Pac stadiums. Oregon State, Stanford and UW have had essentially ground up builds in the last 20 years. ASU completely redid SDS, SC had a major renovation for the Coliseum, Oregon always pours $ into Autzen and even Colorado did some really nice renovations.

Even football operations, WSU, Utah, Stanford, OSU, UCLA, Colorado, ASU, UW, SC and Oregon all have football operations buildings more recently done than ours or done at the same time for more $. We're not in the stone age like we were, but 11th isn't unfair, particularly given how much the stadium still needs.

I just rewatched the 2010 game against Iowa. When we got those four sacks in a row on the Hawkeyes last drive the camera was shaking it was so loud.

I really hope we get back to having crowds and enthusiasm like that again . . . and no, it’s not lost on me that the second half of that season was the beginning of the slide we currently find ourselves trying to recover from.

There was a bunch of Iowa fans there, too.

I made the trip down from Wyo for that game. It was a classic.
