I don't think they release the names anymore, but I assumed the breakdown must be somewhere for Gimino to post that.

Massey's College Football Ranking Composite has Arizona at #20.

I asked him about it.

Hopefully the playoff committee (the one that actually matters) can see this. Also I keep hearing about Oregon not being at full strength when Arizona beat them, what about Nick being out against USC? No excuses being made there.
Jones-Grigsby was also out. We went back to a balanced attack vs. WSU (38 passes; 36 rushes) and we win comfortably... I believe that if we had Wilson or Jones-Grigsby we would have won the game vs. USC. When Arizona passes twice as many times as it runs... we will have a tougher time getting the O going.

I think our D played better than some people believe in that WSU game... many of those points were in the 4th when backups were getting some playing time.

ASSU fans complaining about falling behind us in the polls... what about us falling behind Oregon? If we trounce UCLA the way they did I bet they still stay ranked head of us.

Yeah if we beat ucla and Oregon beats Stanford, they'll probably still be 5 spots ahead of us

Just keep winning. We win out and we are in the playoffs. Won't mean much if we get ranked high this week and blow the game at UCLA or anyone of them after that.

I am no longer hoping we win but instead believing we will win

This still applies. Both teams with nothing special OOC. But we beat Oregon, ASU and Utah. All ranked. Two on the road. What's MSU's best win? Nebraska?

Should be #7 and 4 with a win. It would be a darn shame if they go pass #11 should it not be a dream season of Friday. But if you want a chance to win it all, then I guess you have to risk the 3rd loss.

I still think the committee's sick fetish with Michigan State will reign supreme and Arizona will be 8th. I don't get it, but I have given up trying to figure it out.

I think Arizona COULD end up being as high as 6 over Michigan State and Baylor.

Committee needs to start to plant the seed to avoid having to take two Big 12 teams and Baylor's bad win vs TTech is the perfect seed.

I can see anywhere from 6-8....but to be honest, I think 6 is a really, really long shot. In fact, I don't think it's gonna happen.

#7 would indicate we're still alive in the final four talk....but #8 and still behind MSU would basically just tell us it doesn't matter if we beat Oregon again, we're not in the Final 4 unless everyone ahead of us loses.

Baloney.

#8 beats #2 in a neutral site it is a virtual guarantee that said team jumps an idle #7. Other than taking care of business, all we need is a tOSU loss.

He said if we are ranked 8 behind MSU that the only way we make the CFP is if every team ranked ahead of us loses. I don't agree... Whether we are ranked 7 or 8 tomorrow does not matter.

Yes, well, obviously a team that is idle can't lose, now can they. I was referring (what I thought was self-evidently) to the teams that aren't idle, who are playing games, and thus able to lose games. Also obviously, I was slightly over exaggerating as well, as I don't think all 1-6 need to lose, but most of them would.

I think that if in tomorrow's rankings, if we are at #8 and still sitting behind MSU, then there's virtually no chance of making the top 4. The committee will basically be stating, rather explicitly, how they feel our wins stack up against the rest of the field (not just the good wins, but the close wins) and how our losses affect us.

Here's what I'm thinking.
Bama is a lock, they're in, even with a loss.
Oregon would need to lose to us obviously, and then they're out.
FSU is probably out with a loss, otherwise they're in. But for the sake of argument, let's say they lose and they're out.

so that leaves 3 other spots available.
Baylor wins, they're in
Ohio St. wins, they're in
TCU wins, they are.......well there's the big question isn't it. but if they're ranked in the top 4 in tomorrows rankings, which is a distinct possibility, then if they win they're in.

So that would leave a top 4 of bama, baylor, ohio st., and tcu.

We'd probably jump to 5 and be out.

This is all assuming the committee will not reward an idle MSU and bump them up with the other teams losing.

...

So let's change the scenario now. Bama still in.
FSU wins, they're in.

only 2 spots left.
Baylor, Ohio St. and TCU all have the inside track on those 2 spots. We're on the outside looking in.
TCU isn't losing to iowa freaking state. So they're in.

so now there is baylor, ohio st., and us all vying for one final spot.

If the committe has ranked us at #8 and still behind MSU, then....we need both baylor and ohio st. to lose so that our hypothetical oregon victory could bump us into the last position.

So...yeah, like I said originally, if in tomorrow rankings we're slotted at #8 behind MSU...I think we're a long shot to get in and need a ton of help, and it's not going to happen.

::::

but again, I think tomorrow's rankings tell us a ton, and show us what the real chances are. if TCU is #4 or not is an interesting thing to me, but not as interesting as where they slot the Cats.

Or, as evident by the latest poll, not.

I'm glad they didn't put us out of everything due to that one game. Good job committee.

Good call.

As long as we can get the O to show up, it should indeed be quite fun :)
