Can't, the review of applications won't start until 1/16/16 although without a doubt RR knows who it is.

I know it's frustrating with all the recruits on campus this weekend with no defensive staff to push there schemes and ideas for each kid.

Let's face it, athletics works under a different set of rules than anyone else at the U.

Personal reasons that once are solved, means he could play.

I know it's a bit of a derail, but Miller has been adamant that he can't address the Pitts matter aside from that it's personal, so perhaps something covered under HIPAA. I have to appreciate that Miller is protecting his privacy like this with no leaks getting out at all.

Exactly. I've heard it's a legal matter from the school side that is not allowed to divulge any info on it.

I'm OK with this. I imagine BSU recruits the same type of players UA does, unlike the Alabama candidate.

I like that Yates is an existing DC. I also like that he has had a couple of Secondary players get drafted in the NFL. Was Co-DC at Texas A&M that went 11-2 in the SEC that year, so he has big conference experiences.

I like the progression, smaller conference DC that has 3 Big games a year to Power conference that has 9 Big games a year

I agree, no bigger conference retreads that have been fired. Get the up and comers.

You could drop in Arizona's current talent very nicely into a 4-2-5. Williams, Griffin and Bruno would probably thrive in that scheme.

Agreed, I know Shariff gets alot of fluff for his shape but that guy gets a nice push off the snap

We would most likely need to move a few LB's to DL, anyone with any insight on which LB's have the tools to play DE well? First two that came to my mind were Ippolito and Ware.

He comes out powerful but too high. Big upside for him once he fine tunes. This scheme is going to be good for Williams and Griffin.

Turituri would be a hell of a pass rusher in that scheme. Also, if you're running a 4-2-5, I love love love the idea of Tellas Jones on a blitz on third down.

One of the young kids in my office was recruited to BSU by Yates as a DB circa 2008. I showed him this tweet and he nodded knowingly and said he really hopes it doesn't happen, but good for you and Arizona if it does. Said he's a good guy and a great coach/recruiter.

I like this quote from his Boise state bio the best:
"Yates helped instill into the defense a tenacity that led to the Broncos pacing the Mountain West with the lowest opponents' third-down conversion rate (34.8 percent), a mark that ranked 18th nationally. The Broncos also ranked second in the conference in red-zone defense and opponents' fourth-down conversion rate (42.9 percent)."

Sure seems like there are a ton of defensive recruits on campus right now. One would have to think they aren't taking visits without knowing that rich rod at least has a plan on who it will be.

I love that people are praising the 4-2-5 when we already ran the 4-2-5 out of the 3-3-5 base fairly regularly. Base schemes do not matter. It's the variations you use and when you use them that are important.

Chief was posting on Twitter that with the 4-2-5 the DL can actually now go after the QB and RBs, instead of creating holes for the LBs and DBs, so that will help recruiting.

Well it all goes back to the same sort of thing I have said a few times... we can't be beholden to a single scheme, we need to run variations. Sending DB's and LBs in a blitz is a great tool, but ultimately you need to be running 4 man fronts during parts of games for multiple reasons, but most importantly you need to be able to beat up on the line and get pressure with 4 guys. It's the only way to slow down the pass-happy spread offenses. I don't care what we call the base so long as we start getting guys on the DL who can pressure on their own.
