That was pretty cool...they like him alot. We need Wilson and Taylor to be effective today to free up Tate a little. We all know they'll try to make him pass his way down the field, so we'll see what happens

I think Tate's passing isn't being talked about nearly enough.

If he plays well tonight and we somehow win this game, he will officially become a serious heisman contender
Go get em Tate!

So who are the other PAC 12 QB that had ran for 1,000 yards in a season. Regardless of the 5 games stretch.

It pays to read what you quote.

Wow, nice to have a team leader to who winning and losing mean this much (and all respect to Clay Helton and his players too):

Damn straight...he's a warrior and even when things looked bleak he continued to compete and led us back from 22 down to get us even. I'm sure that pick on first down when we were only 7 down in the 4th is eating away at him but that should only motivate him to get even better than he already is.
Proud to have him as our QB and excited about watching him lead this team to more W's in the future.
Keep your head up Khalil.

My only criticism to this point is the young man needs to control his turnovers. 6 in the past 2 games. That INT in the 4th was a killer. Overall what a stud and he’ll be fun to watch going forward

He started 4 games. Chicat's point was that Tate is the first QB to rush for a thousand yards and he hasn't played a full season.

I'm not sure both those picks were on Tate although they are assigned to him. The second one most certainly wasn't, it was stripped from Brown.
Don't know if the long int was on Tate or the receiver. There was no one near the ball but the USC DB. Either the receiver ran the wrong route or Tate made the wrong pass, but no Cat was close.

Same. He's such a special talent that it's a shame he's on a team where he has to carry the load of the defense on his shoulders. Imagine if we actually had recruited some power conference level players in defense so that Tate and the offense didn't have to do everything to win. But we can't criticize RR and his recruiting on this board anymore.

Khalil is such a special talent, the coaches are learning how special as we go along. I can’t wait to see th offense RR, Smith and McGee build around him during the off season. We won’t ever burn a half like we did last night.

The thing that Tate is missing is the big game win. If Arizona pulled off the comeback on the road it would have been the heisman game. Not sure if any other game really fits that type of game. Like Love beating Washington.

Momentum is everything right now. Finish strong (how he's been playing) and he'll be a strong candidate for the upcoming season. What he'll also need a lot of is the University throwing his name out there in the ring with all the bright lights they can shine on him, because we know for damn sure the PAC networks won't help. A lot more than they did with Ka'deem. Just have to be careful not to put so much pressure on him. Just my opinion.

Did anyone else laugh out loud at the TV last night when Dawkins came in in the 4th quarter and the announcer asked the color guy what Dawkins needed to do to earn the starting job back?

#1 96.5 QBR, 998 Passing Yards, 8 TDs, 6 INTs
#7 with 1,293 Rushing Yards, 11 TDs
11.6 Yards Per Rush, only player in the top 160 with 10+
NCAA Quarterback Rating Formula
(National Collegiate Athletic League)
a = (Comp/Att) * 100
b = (TDs/Att) * 100
c = (Int/Att) * 100
d = Yards/Att
QB Rating = a+(3.3*b)-(2*c)+(8.4*d)
Mayfield is going to be discounted by far too many NFL scouts and is going to be a winner in the NFL. Those numbers, particularly the QBR over time, are insane.

QBR and passer rating are two different things. The formula you included is for passer rating and only includes passing numbers. The QBR is something ESPN came up with a few years ago that includes rushing, penalties, turnovers, pretty much everything a quarterback can do to impact the game. It's intended to represent a quarterback's overall value to his team's success on a scale from 0-100.

Khalil Tate hasn't thrown enough passes to qualify to be listed on any statistical charts for passer rating, so I manually calculated his passer rating for comparison purposes.
Baker Mayfield comes in at #1 in the nation with a passer rating of 202.1.
Khalil would come in at 155.5 which would be good enough for #13 in the nation and #1 in the PAC.
I have to admit I'm pretty shocked it was that high. I thought it would be pretty good, but not that good.

I don't expect Tate to win the Heisman this year. However, if he has two more solid games, and especially if Arizona wins out, he should definitely be invited to the ceremony. A sophomore who came in during week five, has put up numbers that are unmatched, and who took a 2-2 team and led them within sight distance of a NY6 bowl... that may not win the award but that definitely deserves the invite. If he goes to NYC this year I'll be happy. So will the marketing department.

Tate is currently sitting at #3 right now. A huge game against NikeU will get him to NYC.

Love it. An invite is all we can ask for and the exposure would be huge for marketing and next years game times on national networks.
