Yeah, the RB situation is sounding pretty bad. I hope someone can step up in the fall.

Played HS at North Little Rock Oroville, CA.

Butte CC won California Community College Athletic Association title last year. Williams looks like he took advantage of an injury to Butte's starting tailback last year (couple games Robert Frazier). Didn't start the 2013 season as the starter but still had plenty of carries. Has some receptions as well.

This is a good pick up and it addresses the need. KW has 4.4 speed with good size and decent hands.

Think the coaches will still pursue a high school running back? Also, anyone have any inclination about whether the staff will offer some of the other local recruits, like Taylor Powell?

I really don't follow HS sports, but this is a very important recent chance in CA HS sports:

The most important is that the transfer cannot be "athletically motivated."

all i want is to find one of the 3 backs that can just start and give us a good 15 carries for 60 yards in a game, plus any other carries given to neal/other rbs/qb.

It might be easier to prove this, but there is a local kid, who is a Stanford type prospect, who sat out his junior year despite his family moving to a nicer neighborhood.

Problem is that his new high school is pretty good in their own right (though not a DLS level school) and most of the talk is that DLS wouldn't let him take visits during the school year, so he can pick a school to play football at, which would be classified as a athletically motivated. Of course, his dad is pretty powerful in the sports world, so that might help.

Bug...this is such a non story. It's a De La Salle coaching problem story which is no big deal. His recruitment won't change and has nothing to do with him personally as a recruit.

I don't think it's a big deal either. I think the most he'd look at is sitting out four games. This isn't a Broadus type move.

Where did you see it would be a big deal?

QBs

Scroggins
Randall
Brewer
Solomon
Dawkins
McGee (if you still want to call him a QB, since he's really a WR now)

RBs

Jared Baker
Terris Jones-Grigsby
Pierre Cormier
Zach Green
Jonathan Haden
Nick Wilson

Adonis Smith could be added to scholarship, but at the moment I don't believe he is.

Switching gears for a moment. Chief - are you estimating Makenzie is 60/40 lean us? Based on no inside information and rudimentary Twitter research, I would almost be willing to bet the farm he is a 'Vol.

I'm still not too concerned about the RB situation. RichRod has a much higher standard for the skill positions than we're used to seeing here. Think back five years ago - the staff would have been plenty happy with what we've got right now. Whoever gets the starting nod in the backfield has some gigantic shoes to fill.

Time to revive this thread. QB is still a need, looks like we're close with Tezino, and we now know why we've been picking up so many JC recruits. Anyone have any thought as to who will be next to verbal to the cats? Is there another realistic QB on the board we're high on who is also high on us?

Haven't learned if its possible to embed tweets here from my cell phone but per twitter dechuan holiday is down to UCLA and USC. That really blows I thought we had shot at him with Devin holiday being a cat. That fantastic 4 recruiting class from San Diego really looking like a bust with the transfer of babiash, the retirement of cormier, and not getting devin's cousin. I got high hopes for alsadek though and hopefully Devin turns into a good one himself.

I think Babiash is really the only one we can call a bust. A medical retirement is disappointing, but we couldn't have known. Alsadek seems to be coming along nicely and might work his way into the rotation amongst a really experienced group. With Devin, it's still too early to tell.

Here's the blurb on Mariscal from the Bakersfield Californian when he was selected to the all-area team:

Anthony Mariscal * Liberty

RB/DB * 6-0, 185 * junior

One of the area's top junior recruits, Mariscal ran for 1,089 yards (7.4 average) and 11 touchdowns against a difficult schedule. When a shoulder injury sequestered him to defense only in the Patriots' D-I quarterfinal against Clovis, the Liberty's offense struggled while he returned an interception for a touchdown on defense.

RR stockspiles all sorts of offensive talent - look at the WR's. Having lots of numbers in the offensive skill positions must be one of RR's happy places.
