Makes sense since they are playing WAZZU.
Yeah that definitely needs to tighten up on our side, but it's been much better then in the recent past. What was that number the last couple of years, 99.98% or thereabouts? They just need to keep playing hard as they have been and dial up a few more of those 3rd down stops . . . Passing defense is still a big concern, but run defense has been relatively solid - this being Leach and Wazzou, the secondary has to step up big.scumdevils86 wrote:Here's some important stats for the homers:

We also have to squeeze the zones better, which means forcing disruption of route and giving ourselves a yard or two to tackle. Easier said than done.azcat49 wrote:Youth of our LB'S. need to drop into coverage quicker, better recognition

Here are some other "important" stats for the two turds who think they are so smart and so much better than everyone else.
Rush Yards per attempt
AZ 3rd 6.5
Wazzu 127th 2.9
Pass Yards per attempt
AZ 41st 7.7
Wazzu 72nd 7.0
However if you look at solely the last three games when Tate has played U of A is at 11.1 yards per attempt which would be 2nd in the nation.
Is there a stat on 3rd and long defense? Seems UA would be 129/129.scumdevils86 wrote:Actually it isn't any better...

2012-90th
we're just as bad as we ever have been on 3rd down defense.
yeah that would be interesting to see what our D has done the last 6 years against 3rd and 8+ yards. hell the worst would be 3rd and 12+. i bet we give that up 80% of the time.Merkin wrote:Is there a stat on 3rd and long defense? So don't address the stats I gave, doesn't fit your narrative that you are so much better and smarter than the rest of us.scumdevils86 wrote:thanks for making my point for me.PHXCATS wrote:scumdevils86 wrote:Here's some important stats for the homers:

by your stats they will crush us on 3rd down. congrats. you "cracked" yourself.PHXCATS wrote:So don't address the stats I gave, doesn't fit your narrative that you are so much better and smarter than the rest of us.scumdevils86 wrote:thanks for making my point for me.PHXCATS wrote:scumdevils86 wrote:Here's some important stats for the homers:

3rd down defense conversation percentage is a worrisome stat for sure, but that doesn't tell the entire story of the defense. The stats I gave point out a better story of the entire offense going into this game.
What about offensive 3rd down conversation percentage? More less or same importance as the defense stat?
U of A 18th 46.25%
Wazzu 54th 40.00%
yup. i feel a lot better about 3rd and about 4 then 3rd and 12.HaCats wrote:I don't even get excited when we have a team in 3rd & 12 anymore, I know a 19 yard reception for the opposing team is about to happen.

I'm not a football guy, but maybe, just maybe the corners shouldn't sag 10-15 yards off the WRs on 3rd and long.HaCats wrote:I don't even get excited when we have a team in 3rd & 12 anymore, I know a 19 yard reception for the opposing team is about to happen.
yep. and it cost him at least probably 10 wins in his career here.Merkin wrote:I'm not a football guy, but maybe, just maybe the corners shouldn't sag 10-15 yards off the WRs on 3rd and long.HaCats wrote:I don't even get excited when we have a team in 3rd & 12 anymore, I know a 19 yard reception for the opposing team is about to happen.
Like Lou Holtz used to say, the only thing the prevent defense prevents is victories.
Mike Stoops was the worst. Remember he would go into the prevent defense start of the 4th quarter?

Unless he is taking a coordinator job he is not getting an offer from a better school this off seasonchiefzona wrote:dc4azcats wrote:The only stats that matter are 5-2 and RR isn't going anywhere.
Oh really? You don't think he takes another job?

After the issues with the South Carolina move and going 3-9'last year he ain't moving somewhere else next year unless he is canned.azcat49 wrote:Well if he left that would confirm he is a tool but like I said its win win. We have to win for him to get a look and we win in the long run probably.

Do we really even know if RR was actually offered the S Carolina job?chiefzona wrote:azcat49 wrote:Well Rita likes the climate here with her Rheumatoid Arthritis so she might nix a Tennessee or Florida move should it come. Its all win win no matter what. 2 more years of Tate as well
She doesn’t get to nix the next one. RR have her a free one for South Carolina. Next one is his choice and he will be courted.

Lol I'm not doubting he was offered, but you acting as if you would have knowledge either way is beyond laughable ya blowhard.chiefzona wrote:jimson wrote:Do we really even know if RR was actually offered the S Carolina job?chiefzona wrote:azcat49 wrote:Well Rita likes the climate here with her Rheumatoid Arthritis so she might nix a Tennessee or Florida move should it come. From everything that I have heard it all points to that he was.
I'm guessing you were over for dinner when RR and Mrs RR had this conversation?chiefzona wrote:azcat49 wrote:Well Rita likes the climate here with her Rheumatoid Arthritis so she might nix a Tennessee or Florida move should it come. Its all win win no matter what. 2 more years of Tate as well

Can't remember the source, but read that South Carolina would match his salary, but not give him a raise.chiefzona wrote: From everything that I have heard it all points to that he was.
He's going to leave with Tate having two more years? Sure he is. How often does a Pat White or Khalil Tate come around? He's also getting the indoor facility. He's got a big pay day coming and will probably get another extension TY. I think the South Carolina experience taught him that it's not always about the money. Who you work for is a big deal.chiefzona wrote:dc4azcats wrote:The only stats that matter are 5-2 and RR isn't going anywhere.

Hopefully last years game is all the motivation this team needs for tonight. Easily their most embarrassing showing.azgreg wrote:Just saw that ESPN College Gameday crew picked us three of the four. We've got no chance now.
President Robbins is really cool. I met him on campus, he shook my hand and said, "call me Bobby." Ann Hart would never give anyone the time of day, maybe a smile and a head nod.azgreg wrote:Cool to see the president this much into it.
