Yes he did and I know he is pissed RR messed that up. I do think this team knows the importance of this lower level bowl

I am not being a curmudgeon here but the ASU game was RR’s potential swan song vs ASU. Brohm is a good coach but he doesn’t have too much to work with at Purdue yet. So, Arizona should win this game but it really means nothing in recruiting or anything else. I think we’ll all get a better grasp of things after the bowl game.

In that I agree with. It means zip in recruiting. But a lot for off season ticket sales.

The fans don't like RR and he brought it all on himself. He would he gone if not for Tate. Should he win 9 games AND beat ASSU next year I am not as confident as you that he is blown out.

I like a few of his kids in this class and if he get Plante to ink in February I think he has added 4 PAC level recruits (which is good for RR).

I am more than fine with a change although I hate to see us waste that retention bonus. Pay him the buyout and shift that money and use it on the practice field if need be.

Can you provide proof he'd be fired? That's the point. It's speculation. No one except Heeke/Robbins have a definitive bar that they have set for him to stay or go. Historically, chances are that a record like that, the school would keep a coach (except Pelini or Les). Only thing I could see is Heeke encouraging him to take another job, not an outright firing. That would save money and face.

Predictions?

Arizona 38-27

I was pro-RR. ASU loss and the end of the first half put me in the middle. A win here keeps me there while a loss puts me in the critics. Here's to hoping I stay in the middle.

It'll come down to which team wants to be there more and feels like they have the most to prove. I'm sure Arizona is not too pumped to be there especially with the terrible coaching and leadership displayed by the staff in the trainwreck of the end of the season.

Or that USC and Oregon with Herbert are really good.

I'm not concerned with how much our team will want to win, of course they do, they haven't given up on RR even if numerous fans have. Tate either blows up and we win by over 20 or it's a one possession game.

This game is going to be like old vs new with RR's new style vs the Dick Tomey style that Purdue plays.

Not sure how you measure how much a team wants to be there. Can you provide your metric?

Yeap. Although I don't think it'll be that much worse than this year with the better schedule at least the idea I'd Tate to throw out there...but another 2-2 type start and attendance will be the worst we've had in decades.

I think the team wants to be there, I just think they're getting outcoached per usual. Boy let's hope for an RR extension after this game so he can recruit though am I right?

Who the hell wants a coach who serves you up on a platter in a bowl game every season like this?

Whether the players want to be there or not is beside the point. A young head coach of a 6-6 team with limited personnel is outcoaching and outworking ours. This is starting to look like Tony Mason's Fiesta Bowl loss. Regardless of the final score, it's time to cut your losses before the game passes your program--let alone the HC--by.

It’s more nuanced than they do or don’t want to be there. But there’s varying levels of interest and excitement. That’s well known and can’t be denied. And it looks pretty clear that either one team is vastly superior or they are much more invested. And while their lines are destroying ours, I have a hard time believing they are that much better.

Never said that. Said the take of knowing what a team is thinking without being around one. No team goes into a game saying “eh. I don’t give a shit”

Just got back to my hotel from that Frozen Hell of a Bowl Game;

Thoughts:

The better team won.

Purdues DL kicked our ass all night. We could not run the ball to save our lives. Debeer was seriously abused. Tate spent half the
night running for his life being chased by Debeers man

Jace Whittaker was abused by Purdue all night........ditto Burns. Both of our CB's are MWC talents.

Our undersized DL got pushed around just enough to keep Purdue on the field at critical moments.

Our Special Teams still suck..........another shanked punt tonight (I'd settle for an admitted rapist at this point  )
The roughing the punter call when we should have been playing for the return was another killer.

RRod was not seriously out-coached tonight........but his lack of recruiting over the past 5 years reared its ugly head all night.

RR should have told them to knock the shit out of everyone on the kneel downs at the end of the game. Take some flags and make em do it 5 times. Send a message and have the players’ backs. I could see officials saying that if Purdue told them (in which case screw Purdue). Otherwise officials should never do that. Especially since Brohm’s team WKU did it in their bowl last year (he didn’t coach bowl however).

Also especially since the ensuing field goal was ultimately the difference.

That impressive outing against a shitty Purdue squad that was 6-6 in the regular season, with a unit that loses its entire offensive line, juts absolutely SCREAMS 9-win regular season to me as well.

Losing 3 of our last 4 against unrNked opponents should put fan expecatations into the stratosphere.

Congratulations to RR... never has anyone been less deserving of a $3.5M bonus. That is quite an accomplishment!
