Not the same because he doesnt have the experience like you said but I think he can have an Antonio Pierce impact on recruiting.

by the way fuck you Pierce you traitor piece of shit

I'd argue even bigger. Only 4 years removed from a rushing title. Kids know his playing days which couldn't be said the same for 18 year olds and Pierce. He stopped playing in 09. (Although the pipeline to Poly is another story)

Agree on all fronts, except Pierce was on MSPN as well which probably helps him

I know he was a great NFL running back but we don't know if he can coach or recruit a lick. I think I'd rather have a known commodity with a proven track record.

I think this will be huge. While he doesnt have the coaching experience of Antonio Benedict Arnold Pierce I think he can have a similar impact in recruiting for U of A.

To me this can only help. Who really cares what a no name running backs coach does anyway; getting some name recognition for the program and putting a potential recruiter there a good move.

Well Pierce had pretty good connections to Southern CA before taking the ASU job. I'm not sure Murray has those same types of connections at the moment. He should get an opportunity based on name recognition but we will see how it plays out. I'm hoping for good results.

This is hire that we will regret I think. APierce is very well connected look at the SoCal kids he has brought to Tempe. Merlin Robertson, Jayden Daniels, and every lbpoly kid. I think that between Sumlin and Murray we can do better in Texas. We need to hire somebody like Pierce for Cali because meat and Yates are not cutting it. What if we made a run at donte Williams again. Crazy I know

Just drives me nuts on how we seem to mess up hiring alums like Pierce and Joe Salavea. These are the type of things that makes you say to hell with AZ football.

RB’S to me are a dime a dozen. It’s not like we haven’t had guys who were 3 star go for over 1200 yards a year. We need corners and lineman in droves. They are the guys who are hard to get and make the most difference IMO

This. Since Mike Bell in like 2002 we've seemingly always had a rb that can go for 1000 yards and 10 TDS in a season every year, no matter how good or bad our team or roster is.

Its way to early to say if this hire was a mistake but I certainly would have preferred someone that has some history of coaching and recruiting successfully. I keep hearing Big Joe's name brought up and why didn't we hire him. We did hire him. I think it was Stoops that hired him. A year later Stoops got fired along with all of his coaches. Now Big Joe has a great gig up north and is probably firmly entrenched as an assistant head coach and he's not coming here. I wish people would stop whining about things they cannot change.

Oh you could change it. He could and should have been retained instead of allowing RR to hire his old buddy who wouldn’t recruit. Every staff typically has one holdover coach and we choose to let big Joe walk.

As for Pierce, RR chose a guy with experience instead of trying to tap into a LA school that produces a number of college ready guys. These are just head scratching decisions and we just continually pay the price with poor recruiting and mediocre teams

My issue with this is that people or some people seem to think its the school's doing. Every incoming new coach to any school is given latitude in hiring assistants. RR chose not to retain Joe. Yea I would have liked Joe to stay as well but RR didn't know Joe. My guess is you're not gonna get Joe back unless the head coach he works under gets fired and his assistants are let go. Certain people keep whining and whining.

Why don't they slide Glenn Parker into this position?
The last report that I heard was that he was living in Tucson with a position at U of A as a Staff Analyst. Not sure if he is still working here?

or
Ask John Fina if he is interested?

We better grab another Lineman or 2 because our depth suddenly sucks. Losing 2 highly rated guys in Lukusa and Eletise is not what I want to hear after a decent OLine recruiting haul in December. Seems we start to address the depth issues in the trenches and then the departures start. Arizona Fooseball at its finest.
