Not sure who's even out there to hire. Not a ton of break out young Conference USA/Mountain West level coaches for hire this year.

Let’s see if Sumlin can pull a rabbit out of his ass against ASU.

Here are a few. In general, it looks like you may be right.

Eliah Drinkwitz, Appalachian St., 36 years old, first season 9-1
Josh Heupel, UCF, 40 years old, 19-4
Bryan Harsin, Boise State, 42 years old, 68-21 ($2 mill)
Billy Napier, Louisiana , 39 years old, 15-9
Seth Littrell, north Texas, 40 years old, 27-23
Nick Rolovich, Hawaii, 39 years old, 25-26

Sonny Dykes but he wanted out of here. Tate is gone so go with Tomey recommendation, the Navy coach. Take a flyer and hire big Joe from Oregon. Just do it though

I was happy with the Sumlin hire at the time, but I think it is pretty clear at this point that he is not the man for the job. Excited to see who we can fire next...

When they fire that fool I will repurchase my 3 season tickets and I told Heeke that myself. Until they do they will keep getting 21k scans to their games. That dude is gone and he will be gone mostly by the lack of fan support. THAT IS WHY YOU DON’t GIVE THEM BLIND LOYALTY. The fans have held them accountable

So who would you elevate to the interim if it were to happen where you might get a bump of urgency? No one else on that staff past the RB coach played in the league and he isn’t ready to be a head coach. Mazzone ? Just wondering who you would pick

I honestly don't know. Not saying that chuck wouldn't be okay, just that it wouldn't make much of a difference either way.

I would think that Mazzone would be gone soon or at the same time as KS so I wouldn't give him a chance so Chuck would be my choice.

We have no chance with him at the helm. Fire him Thursday after practice and then the guys will put in a great effort. Otherwise they will roll over to get this fool out

Las Vegas does not agree with you, +13.5.

Heck, I would take Ricky Hunley over Sumlin, just for the one game only. Anything to fire up the players and fans.

Too bad Larry Smith and Dick Tomey have passed on. Love to see them coach one more game.

That literally makes no sense, so I am assuming you are being satirical. We almost certainly would be bigger dogs if we went with someone else.

I personally say we should just let the players coach if we are going to go another direction. We already turned the program over to them as soon as we fired Rich Rod with the whole Marcel Yates joke. We could really be a players program.

Go the scc model theory with chuck or Rickey as figureheads and spend the dough on OC and DC who have a network and are hungry to make the jump with incentive laden contracts for all.

Fuck the multi million dollar buyout model. Fuck that.

What are you talking about? Do you have the lines if UA fires Sumlin and hires Hunley or Chuck for this game? Are they lower than 13.5?

I was thinking Joe Pa at PSU too, did he ever do anything except meet and greets the last couple years? Heck, he used to run to the bathroom mid play.

Although those years really put a dirty taste in my mouth thinking about what was happening there.

You do not fire a coach after 2 years and pay out 10 million to hire a coach from Hawaii who has literally proven nothing except he can coach a mid-major to a .500 record. Better have some better options on the board or it really is the death spiral.

I agree, I was thinking Ricky Hunley for one game, but the majority of fans probably don't remember him or have heard of him to begin with. Nothing like a Super Bowl star lot of following to stir up some interest.

Ced Dempsey had the Ohio St coach locked and loaded for Tucson until his assistants told him he was crazy so let’s go big and give Urban a blank check and tell him he could cement his legacy by taking a bottom feeder to the top :)

Well he did take Hawaii bowling for the first time in 10 years and A winning record 3 out of 4 years. On top of that he is cheap at 600k. That is better than paying 2 mill for 3 or 4 wins per season. Not saying we should, He has Hawaii in the 100s in recruiting, but Arizona could do worse.

How does his record compare to Sumlin’s at Houston . . . Or for god’s sake in the SEC at Texas A&M? We could do worse, but what’s the point? He’s a little younger, so therefore he’s better? Sure it may work out, but we could have and did say the same thing with Sumlin. Give me a proven, big-time winner at a lower division or a proven (non-psychotic) coordinator from the highest levels. Or suffer for another year or two and then pull the trigger.

Seth Littrell is intriguing to me. As someone that lived in Collin County from age 10 until UofA (parents still there), I know first hand that North Texas job is a HARD job.
Rolovich for reasons already listed, mainly he's cheap.
Ken N. I'm sorry.
Salavea. We keep asking is he ready, but we won't get him any other way. Don't think he'd make the lateral (money) move to DC.
I know it's more of a dream and somewhat of a joke, but Joey Freshwater.

I need to look into Scalley. Obviously know how dominant the Utah D is, but just don't know enough about him.

DC options.
What ever happened to Tosh Lupoi? I see he's with the Browns now, but the guy is a monster recruiter. If I remember correctly something happened with Saban at Bama.

I'm not sure I'm sold on Scalley, Utah's a defensive powerhouse cause of Whit, not the DCs (which they have rotated through the last few years). Just my thoughts from being familiar with Utah's program.

I agree. UA must be careful. We all thought that Stoops was a great D-coordinator, and would certainly be a good head coach. If i remember correctly, he was co defensive coordinator at both Kansas State and later for his brother at Oklahoma. That should have raised red flags. Even his brother didn't trust him running the defense. There are lots of offensive and defensive coordinators out there running the show. And many who are just figureheads.

I really don't know about the coordinator route. I want a proven, young, winning head coach. If that means they only use us as their next step up for 3 or 4 years that's fine by me.
