That kind of confused reporting is not helping. But it would be remarkable that zero cases of myocarditis had been found (assuming they were actually looking) when studies have shown high percentages of instances in Covid positive patients.
Re: 2020 Season Thread
I can't keep up with the changes.
Re: 2020 Season Thread
Let's start up now that all of our best players have transferred out.
What a clusterfuck.

Re: 2020 Season Thread
What has Gavin Newsom said about it? I imagine he will be OK with January. PAC shouldn't even talk until they contact him first, and the Oregon governor too.
Newsom is letting the NFL teams here practice, but they have better finances than schools do, and don't need to hang around other people like college athletes do.

Not finding any other sources on that. Is that a parody site?
If it's true, the UA should call Kyle Whittingham immediately!

That's crazy. A ploy to put pressure on the PAC to play sooner than later?

Re: 2020 Season Thread
The entire athletic department at UofA should be furloughed, too. What’s good for the professors is good for the coaches and administrators.
Re: 2020 Season Thread
They are probably giving up a fraction of their pay while still working and taking some time off.
I hear the AZ Cancer Center is furloughing one month a year. So they take a 8.33% pay cut and take a month off during the year.

Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Pretty good analysis that was done pre Schooler transfer.

That's what I've been reading. What does the PAC do when the BIG votes to play?azcat49 wrote:Isn’t the Big 10 meeting tomorrow snd will announce if they will play this fall?

I actually think it’d be a pretty amazing stand for the PAC to stand alone and say, ‘No, we believe in these peoples lives more than this one season of football.’

I think 9 B1G schools have to change their original vote and they’ll all be asked “what changed to such a degree that football is ok now while it wasn’t a month ago?”
I don’t see that happening.

Last I read Larry Scott said they haven't even started discussions with the OR and CA governors which is required to get a waiver like the CA NFL teams did.I guess the others can go as a PAC 8, but going to miss some marquee teams like USC and Oregon.azgreg wrote:That's what I've been reading. Re: 2020 Season Thread
What happens if the NFL doesn't have positive cases coming from week 1? Their training camps and travel have been remarkably clean. Similarly for college, we're seeing programs have positives inside of their own camps, but controlling it. What happens if we don't see a rash of cases from games this last weekend?
It seems like the biggest issue we're seeing is not play/practice on the outdoor field, but from everything away from it. Even in college, some programs are doing a great job off the field.

Re: 2020 Season Thread
Breaking News: college football coaches don’t give a fuck about the long term health of their players.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron said on Tuesday that most of his team has contracted COVID-19.
"Not all of our players but most of our players have caught it," Orgeron told reporters. "I think that hopefully they won't catch it again and hopefully they're not out for games."
Asked later for further clarification, Orgeron said he didn't know the exact percentage of players who have had the coronavirus.
"Hopefully that once you catch you don't get it again," he said."I'm not a doctor. I think they have that 90-day window, so most of the players that have caught we do feel like they'll be eligible games."
Per SEC protocols, players who have contracted COVID-19 don't have to be tested again for 90 days.
LSU, like many programs in the SEC and nationally, has not provided regular reports on the number of players who have contracted the novel coronavirus.
Two weeks ago, Orgeron said all but 2-3 offensive lineman missed practice because of testing.
"You have to make adjustments," he said.
Orgeron's comments come on the heels of Texas Tech self-reporting five more cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the team's total number of positive cases to 75 since players returned to campus in June.

“You have to make adjustments. When your starting QBs heart goes out, it’s next man up. But can the back up not throw as well? Might need to call more run plays. But what if your starting RB has died too?”

Re: 2020 Season Thread
So unless they plan on only doing a like 7 game season I'm guessing the big 10 isn't planning on participating in bowl games or in the playoffs.

8 conference games plus a bonus game for everyone playing the opposite division team in the same spot in the standings. So conference title and also last place game on the same day.ASUHATER! wrote:So unless they plan on only doing a like 7 game season I'm guessing the big 10 isn't planning on participating in bowl games or in the playoffs.
Re: 2020 Season Thread
That would mean then if bowl games happen as normal then there would be no time off between regular season and bowl games

Reading between the lines:
King Larry calls Gov Newsome, hoping to hide behind his confirmation. Gov Newsome, with much bigger issues on hand (wildfires, covid hitting college campus hard), tells King Larry to F Off. Larry now thinks he's best buds with Newsome. So to make his point Newsome goes to the media and tells King Larry to F Off again by saying "nothing in state rules [is] preventing teams from playing."
