I got to listen to Greg Byrne speak at a conference a couple days ago... He is awesome

I trust in Byrne almost more than Rich or Sean. He is the reason all of this has happened and why we have top 10 basketball and football teams, a baseball team who won a championship 2 years ago, and why our soccer and volleyball teams came back into the national spotlight.
Best AD in the country, bar none. he deserves a raise too.

Dumptruck of money for GB too.
We're gonna lose him within 5 years me thinks.

I can't remember, and apparently can't find it via search, was GB included in that oil stock incentive deal?

Yes, GB gets the best deal of the three. He gets a 1/3 just like RR and SM, but his salary is much lower. He will get CST's proverbial "dump truck of money" when its all said and done.
He ain't leaving. No program can match what he has if he stays here and cashes out.

Will he be an SEC commissioner candidate?

Looking at the salaries, GB could double his pay (not including the stocks) by becoming the SEC commissioner. But I would have to think that possibility is slim and plus the other schools might not like his ties to Miss St. But he is great at what he does. I also think that article makes the President look great. She realizes the athletic department is doing great and she leaves it alone to make the university great.

I'm not sure. The value of the retention plan private stock started at about $6 Mil each and could grow do $20 Mil. Which would be above and beyond his salary. That's hitting the lotto type money - I don't see him leaving before he cashes out, but who knows??

If we win tonight I never in a million billion years would have expected us to have the only program with top 5 bball and fball programs competing for national championships

So before the territorial cup he went on PHX radio and was asked about his undergrad at ASU and how that makes him feel. He explained that at ASU he worked at a hotel and never went to any ASU events, nor ever wore the colors. He stated that is the reason why no photos have ever turned up of him wearing the ASU colors. He said that at the time his dad was AD at Oregon, so he was much more of a ducks fan than a devils fan, and that when he wanted to watch a game, he simply went to Tucson.

His split isn't equal to RR & Miller.
Byrne gets a little more than a fifth of the total shares with the coaches splitting the remainder evenly.
I wonder if he gets any performance based bonuses for New Year's bowls and Elite Eights.

Hansen, STFU.....
"hmmm, if I couch my own personal speculation with the phrase "inevitable speculation", it'll look like I'm reporting rather than spitballing."
I don't hate Hansen as much as some here do, but this pot-stirring that he seems to feel the need to indulge in every so often gets old.

Been saying this for 13 years. And yet everyone in Tucson falls for it again and again and again and again

Mullens would have to have a screw loose to leave Oregon for WVU.....his home or not. No school in America has the resources that Oregon has.

My why Mullens go to a shithole like Morgantown and actually have to work to hustle money? Family only goes so far.

She has seemed extremely on board since she began her tenure. Really cool.

Alabama's No. 2 athletics official reportedly taking AD job at West Virginia
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama ― The No. 2 official in Alabama's athletic department is heading home, according to multiple reports.
Shane Lyons, the deputy director of athletics and chief operating officer, is expected to take the AD job at West Virginia, according to The Charleston Gazette and other local news outlets. Lyons, a graduate of West Virginia, replaced Dave Hart in 2011 when he left for the Tennessee athletics director position.
Lyons was the associate commissioner of the ACC for 10 years before coming to Alabama.

You're right.
I've only met Byrne once but I took the opportunity to let him know I was a big fan of what he was doing. His response was to praise all the people underneath him. And it wasn't some cheesy line. He knows that his people are his greatest resource.

Greg Byrne just said on a radio interview that with the generosity of donors they have some big projects up their sleeve that they aren't ready to come public with. Interest piqued.
