Believe this is the 2nd QB offer from Arizona for 2016 class (Patterson)

Coming off the heals of Patterson's LSU offer. Is coach getting worried about him flipping? Or is he actually looking at bringing two high level QBs?

FWIW, I'm pretty pessimistic about Patterson staying committed. Would be great! But I have heard that he's helping us recruit the state of Louisiana, which is why we've been getting so many lately.

Just saw a tweet that said GA Sean Patterson hired at LSU "Offensive Quality Control". Likely explains why the QB offer this am.
LSU: Per source, Arizona offensive grad assistant Sean Patterson has accepted an offensive quality control at LSU. Patterson joined Rich Rod's staff at Arizona during the spring after a playing career at Duquesne University and in Europe. Patterson, per source, has a younger brother who is a highly-touted high school prospect.

Does the NCAA always look the other way regarding the SEC?

Right out of the rulebook:

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/usc ... manual.pdf

13.2.1.1 Specific Prohibitions. Specifically prohibited financial aid, benefits and arrangements include, but
are not limited to, the following:
(a) An employment arrangement for a prospective student-athlete’s relatives;

Shea:

"A lot of things can happen in the college football world so it wouldn't be smart for me to exclude anyone," Patterson said. "I mean, coaches change, programs struggle or rise anything can happen really. I'm honoring my commitment now, but you never know what tomorrow holds so I have to be prepared for anything."

I would like to think that the 2015 LA recruits are way more about Magee and virtually nothing to do w/ Patterson - at least, that's the way I've read it. But perhaps that's just me comforting myself.

The 2015 guys didn't commit to us to play with Shea Patterson. We're literally their best offer for the most part.

I hope your're right about Magee , but it's LSU and if they're willing to hire away Pattersons brother and give him a 'quality control' position (talk about BS) they probably are willing to do anything to maintain 'control' of their instate talent.

Well if they don't like that we're landing Louisiana players then maybe they should offer those players themselves.

$$$$$$$$EC strikes again, with impunity. Didn't the Big 12 Commissioner say something yesterday about how the NCAA doesn't seem to be doing anything about enforcing their own rules, and that many successful programs seem to get away with tons of stuff? Wonder who he could be talking about ..... let's see .... hmmmmmm ....

LSU will go after the best , not necessarily the diamond in the ruff type athlete. There are 4 LA recruits (not named Patterson) currently verballed to UA. 2 are 3* and on LSU's watch list (Bradford and Jackson). The others are a 2* undersized D.E. and a 2* undersized DB.
All I'm saying is that it's difficult enough recruiting against teams of LSU's stature without them having to stoop to the level they have in this case and trump the shrewd move we had made by hiring Shea's brother in the first place.

This came up when Pastner hired that assistant with the four can't miss kids. ESPN was saying it is not a violation if the relative is an "on field coach".

So is Offensive QC specialist an "on field position"?

Oddly enough GA is much more of an "on field position" than Off QC.. So we can't really argue that other than GA is not a full time position and they are still going to school.

QC is more of an admin position than anything else. The fact that he was already employed (even as a GA) by another university pretty much puts LSU in the clear on this one.

Trevor Speights having heck of a season so far. Not sure if Arizona can ultimately land him. One factor is Speights tied to former 2016 QB commit Shea Patterson. They were/are friends. Patterson played in that TX area before he transferred to Shreveport LA. When Speights committed to Arizona he cited Academics, Patterson and good chance to play as a freshman (depth chart)

Kid looks great. Any news how that trip went? RR doesn't like them to take trips after they committ and has been known to pull the offer.
