Williams is a 6-2, 313, Freshman defensive lineman from Central HS, Fresno, CA. A 3 time all-conference and 2 time all-city performer Williams is already enrolled at Arizona and had a chance to do spring ball and work out with the team.
He is the rare high school player who sees himself as a true nose guard. Unfortunately, he missed playing his senior year in high school and then delayed enrollment to Arizona while recovering from the injury. He is fully recovered and played in our spring game and at least one article (which I can no longer find) listed him as the incoming Freshman set to make the biggest impact. Any time Williams can give us at nose tackle this year will be huge.
“Sharif is a tremendous football player, with a good work ethic and high level of competitiveness. He is willing to work for what he is going after and hold his teammates accountable to a high standard. He will be a positive addition to any group he belongs to as he will take the lead to work towards a common goal.” – Central HS Coach Myles Bacon
“Sharif is another big guy, great size and needs to develop more strength, quickness and endurance. But he’s only a freshman. He has time to grow and every day that he is out there will be one day better that he gets. We are anxious to start working with him.” – UA Coach Bill Kirelawich
90 is also the total number of receiving yards Nick Wilson had last year on 12 catches. He was a little used weapon out of the backfield and we should see him catching more balls this year.

So excited to have him in the fold, plugging holes and attracting double teams for years to come.

Any news on his playing status? Sounds like he'll either red shirt or be deep in the rotation.

I think he'll red-shirt, but that's not uncommon for DT at all and in no ways means he won't contribute at some point. Most DL take years to develop.

needs to develop more strength, quickness and endurance.
Just reading between the lines reads like a redshirt year is in order.

He's got size and he held his own in the spring game, even obliterating the line at times with his 300lb frame. I can see him taking snaps against the Wazzu's and NAU's of the schedule.

agreed, he played well in Spring Game but he could probably use more time to get his body and mind right for the the conditioning and style of 3-3-5...He will be needed against the Power run teams
