Bear Down Wildcats

Jackson is a 6-0, 222, redshirt Senior LB from Seattle, WA. Talk about a non-traditional career. Jackson, a former walk-on, started 12 of 13 games his redshirt Freshman year and had 58 tackles, 5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks along with 3 pass break-ups. As a Sophomore he played in every game, but never started and only had 9 tackles on the year. Last year he played in just one game, at Washington State, when we traveled to his home state.

In Coach Rod's first year, we were painfully undermanned at linebacker. Sir T was a redshirt, walk-on, linebacker who surprised everyone by earning the starting role. We went to a bowl game and had 8 wins that year in large part due to Sir T's ability to fill that position of need. So, now that he is a Senior reserve linebacker and special teams player, please don't forgot that Sir T was one of the key players who helped get the Coach Rod era going.

53 is also the number of rushing yards our #2 QB, Jesse Scroggins, had last year. I predict Jerrard Randall will have more yards than that by the time we finish the out of conference schedule.

Didn't he have major injury issues last year? I think he was dropped from the roster at one point due to it.

You are right Merk, Brad Allis, WSR, reported this during camp:

Sir Thomas Jackson, Marquis Ware and Clive Georges are also nursing pretty serious injuries and appear to have been taken off he 105-man roster.

I am not sure when Jackson was put back on the roster, but I did not see him on at least the September injury reports form last year. I couldn't confirm what the injury was or how serious, but he did play in just the Wash St game.

I don't usually go back and add in walk-on players, but after I read that Hanlon was a surprise at center I decided to do a little research. He quickly jumped into my All-Walk-on team.



Chase Hanlon is a 6-1, 270, redshirt Junior center from Long Beach CC and Mt Ranier HS, Des Moines, WA. After high school, Hanlon enlisted in the US Navy where he served 3 years assigned to Naval Special Warfare as a special warfare combatant-craft crewmen (SWCC). SWCC operate the vessels that transport the Navy SEALs. Here is a description from Wikipedia:

SWCC go through separate specialized training programs that emphasize special operations in the maritime environment. SWCC are trained extensively in craft and weapons tactics, techniques, and procedures. Focusing on clandestine infiltration and exfiltration of SEALs and other special operations forces, SWCC provide dedicated, rapid mobility in shallow water areas where large ships cannot operate. SWCC must be physically fit, highly motivated, combat-focused, and responsive in high-stress situations.

I pulled Hanlon's weight from the Long Beach CC site and I suspect it is actually 288 instead of the 188 listed on the Arizona official bio. I was unable to pull anything about his playing time at Long Beach CC.

New players are off limits to the media for the first couple weeks of practice. Hopefully, someone in the media will be clever enough to decipher what NSW SWCC means on Hanlon's bio and give us more information on his service.
