Matthews is a 6-3, 221, Junior linebacker from Tucson. A former walk-on who earned a scholarship by playing in 19 games over the past 2 years and starting 6 games. Matthews had 29 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 sack last year. He is the leading candidate to start as the weak side linebacker this year. Before walking on to the Wildcats Matthews was a Kansas City Royals draft pick as a shortstop.
47 is the Arizona and NCAA Freshman record for the most pass completions in a game set by Anu Solomon against Cal last year.
47 is also the Arizona record for receptions by a tight end in a season. In 2008, Rob Gronkowski caught 47 passes for 672 yards and 10 TDs.
— The last Arizona leading quarterback to complete less than 50 percent of his passes in a season was Richard Kovalcheck (47.1 percent) in 2004.
— The Wildcats amassed 457 yards in only 47 plays in a 44-20 win at Colorado two years ago. That’s 9.7 yards per play, or an average of almost a first down per play.
I watch the Hill Mary and get chills every time. I get sad thinking about what could've been with Gronk his junior year..

Said it at the time that it was the most transformative play in AZ football history and I still believe that. We dont win the south with that and maybe not have the belief we could win from behind (ala UDub).
I like CATINFL watch that play repeatedly along with the ASSU game
